Wasserman Schultz Welcomes Ted Cruz To Florida With A Big "Extremist" Hug

Florida Democrat Congresswoman and head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is once again showing America how much fun it is for Democrats to sound divisive, as she has once again pulled out her “extremist” card in describing conservative elected officials, specifically Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who was in Florida for a few events.

In an interview with the Sun-Sentinel, Wasserman Schultz took issue with the Republican Party of Sarasota naming Cruz their “Statesman of the Year.” “We’re talking about a guy who just in his brief time in Washington – he hasn’t even been there but a year and a half – and he orchestrated the government shutdown that cost our economy $24 billion.
He opposed common-sense immigration reform, and that’s obviously important to many voters in Florida, and across the country.
He supported the House Republicans’ goal of refusing to even take a vote on the legislation. Last week he voted not to pay our nation’s bills and forced a filibuster, more gridlock more obstructionism in the Senate and potentially brought us to the brink of default. He even voted against the Violence Against Women Act.-Rep. Wasserman Schultz (D) Wasserman Schultz
Here is the Sun Sentinel Q & A with Wasserman Schultz:
Q: There are plenty of conservative Republicans in our area, but it seems as if he might be out of touch with Republicans in southeast Florida?
Wasserman Schultz: Apparently not out of touch with Marco Rubio, our senator, our tea party senator. If you remember he told Politico last year that he thinks Cruz is going to be a superstar.
Marco Rubio himself has a tough time figuring out exactly where he is. He’s been pretty much a weather vane when he runs into controversy in his own party, on immigration reform especially. The Republican Party continues clearly to be engaged in a civil war.
They can’t future out who they are, where they are, how they want to define themselves. There’s a ton of finger pointing. I think that they’ve lost a bunch of races as a result, and I think that going into the 2014 election, that’s going to cause them more problems, particularly as they highlight a guy like Ted Cruz and allow Ted Cruz to be their leader who already forced a government shutdown and was willing to default and refused to pay our nation’s bills again just last week. I mean this is the person that they are lifting up as the statesman of the year.
Q: Do you think he’s the kind of Republican that voters in southeast Florida could cotton up to, warm up to?
Wasserman Schultz: The most extreme tea-partiers certainly could. And that seems to be who is dominating and leading the Republican Party of today…. Florida is a purple state … and they’ve repeatedly rejected extremism.
The Republicans keep lifting up leaders like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio who embrace that extremism, so I think as voters take a look at the choices they have leading into the 2014 election, it’s going to bode well for our Democratic candidates.

Wasserman Schultz: Obama ‘Should Use His Executive Authority’ -- 'We've Got to Make Progress'

Debbie Wasserman Schultz(CNSNews.com) – Despite criticism of President Barack Obama’s pledge that he will use his executive authority and executive orders to advance his agenda regardless of Congress, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said the president “should use his executive authority.”
At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday following the president’s State of the Union speech, CNSNews.com asked Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz,  “What do you think of the criticism about using executive order(s) to get things done on climate change or [the] minimum wage?”
“Well, the ball’s in their court,” she said, in reference to Republicans in the House of Representatives. “I mean, they have an opportunity to work with him.”
“The president made that very clear,” said Wasserman Schultz, who also is chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. “We want to make sure that we’re working together and deepen our impact by passing legislation, but there are urgent challenges that we [are] facing and the president is going to have to use his executive authority.”
“And I agree that he should use his executive authority because if the Republicans continue to try to be obstructionists, then we’ve got to make progress,” Wasserman Schultz said.

A Year of Inspiring Democratic Quotes

Joe Biden - King of Gaffes

BY:
As in any other year, 2013 provided countless Democratic pearls of inanity and incoherence as President Obama’s administration and colleagues found themselves engulfed by multiple scandals, the horrific rollout of Obamacare and a near-disaster abroad with the Syrian crisis.
It was a 2013 that saw one top White House adviser call the law “irrelevant” in the wake of the IRS targeting fiasco, many Democrats and the president himself spin the “Lie of the Year” about Obamacare as being totally true, and one congresswomanseek to give unemployment insurance to “working men and women.”
It was a year that saw Jen Psaki tell a wide-eyed Matt Lee that the State Departmenthad “determined that we do not need to make a determination” about the coup in Egypt, Secretary of State John Kerry call for an “unbelievably small” strike in Syria, and Rep. Maxine Waters fear the loss of 170 million jobs to sequestration.
It saw Vice President Joe Biden display a stunning imitation of a shotgun, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in response to a question about helping a child with cancer, wonder incredulously “Why would we want to do that?”
And it saw former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ask with exasperation about who perpetrated the Benghazi terrorist attack, “What difference at this point does it make?”

Wasserman Schultz: Millennials Will Gradually Embrace Obamacare And It Will Be "Incredible"

ANDREA MITCHELL: Congresswoman, what about this poll? It shows that, first of all, among the millennials, many of them think that it will be more expensive. Only 13% say they will definitely enroll, 16% will probably, 41% are split. They're also concerned about costs. We see in this poll that 40% think the care will be worse, 37% think care will be the same, 18% think it will be better. Don't we have to -- doesn't the White House have to get more support from these young people in order to make the risk pool work effectively?

REP. DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ (D-FL), DNC CHAIR: Well, over the next weeks and months, the White House as well as Democratic members of Congress and folks across the administration are going to be continuing to get the word out about the opportunity to sign up for coverage, the benefits of signing up for coverage.

You know, for millennials, young adults in particular, because they have an opportunity to stay on their parents' insurance until they're 26 years old, many of them need to be aware they can do that. That's going to give them comprehensive coverage that so many of them don't have now.

And the focus needs to be on making sure that we can get young people who are often healthier into the pool so that it lowers the overall cost of health insurance. Whether it's making sure they get access to preventive care like mammograms without a co-pay or deductible or making sure -- or a well-woman visit without a co-pay or deductible, or birth control for free so they can plan their families in the way they want to. That's why I think gradually you'll have millennials fully embrace the Affordable Care Act, and it's going to be really an incredible opportunity.

Wasserman Schultz: "Democratic Candidates Will Be Able To Run On Obamacare As An Advantage"

THREE WORDS: "DELUSIONAL, DELUSIONAL DELUSIONAL"

CANDY CROWLEY: If you look at 2014, if you look at this through the prism of 2014, you don't think that Obamacare will weigh heavily on Democratic elections?

DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: I think Obamacare, because Americans have been feeling the benefits since 2010, where young adults can stay on their parents' insurance until they're 26, where on January 1st if you have a pre-existing condition, like I do as you know, as a breast cancer survivor. The peace of mind that those Americans are going to have knowing that they can never be dropped or denied coverage for that pre-existing condition, the preventative care that is available without a co-pay or a deductible. Those are benefits that Americans have been feeling and will increasingly feel as Obamacare is fully implemented. So, I think, actually Candy, that Democratic candidates will be able to run on Obamacare as an advantage leading into the 2014 election.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: ‘Nothing’ Obama or I Said About Obamacare ‘Was Not True’

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep.Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) joined MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing on Tuesday where she insisted that “nothing” she or President Barack Obama said about the Affordable Care Act prior to its passage or implementation “was not true.”
“It has infuriated a lot of the 3 percent or so of Americans who actually can’t do that and, frankly, has upset a lot of the other people who felt misled,” Jansing said of Obama’s “keep your plan pledge.”
“Did the president, congresswoman, knowingly oversimplify this and provide an opening, frankly, for opponents of the ACA?” she asked.
Wasserman Schultz responded by taking a shot at insurance companies who “chose to change the plan that they were making available to people that they already insured in the individual market.”
“At the end of the day, most of those people who are having their plans transitioned will have better benefits for lower costs,” she continued. “All they have to do is go on the exchange and shop around, which arguably needs to be easier than it is now.”
“So, no,” Wasserman Schultz concluded. “There was nothing about what President Obama or that I or any other Democrat supporting the Affordable Care Act said that was not true.

[VIDEO] Rob Reiner aka Meathead: 'Obama Is Right Around Where Reagan Was' Politically

It really is hysterical listening to liberal Hollywoodans talk
about politics.
Take for example actor/director Rob Reiner - made famous by his role as Meathead in the legendary sitcom All in the Family - claiming on HBO's Real Time Friday ("Overtime" web segment) that Barack Obama politically "is right around where Reagan was" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BILL MAHER, HOST: I’m just saying the Democrats have moved to the middle.
CONGRESSWOMAN DEBBIE WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ (D-FLORIDA): We have.
MAHER: Unfortunately, the other people have moved way over there. So now the middle isn’t the middle anymore.
ROB REINER: Obama right now, where Obama is is right around where Reagan was, right around where Nixon was. There, he’s no more left than those, those, those Republicans.
MAHER: Hardly a socialist. He’s barely, barely a liberal.
REINER: No, as Bob Dole said, he could not get…
MAHER: Right.
REINER: …anywhere in this Republican Party. And so Obama’s right around where Bob Dole is. They’re very similar, you know? There’s not much of a difference there.
MAHER: Whenever they say, “Oh, he’s the most radical president ever,”
REINER: No, no, no, no.
MAHER: …right, because they’re such experts on history. What they mean is, “He’s black.” That’s what’s the most radical thing about him.

Maher Battles Wasserman-Schultz Over Obamacare: Obama Clearly Lied, His ‘No New Taxes’ Moment

Bill Maher has no qualms about saying that President Obama clearly lied about people being able to keep their health care plans if they liked them, and clashed with DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz over exactly how significant that lie was to the health care debate and whether Obamacare would have been passed in the first place without it.
Maher wondered if Obamacare had been passed in the first place if he was more honest about insurance plans. Wasserman-Schultz insisted “it was not a lie,” but Maher shot back, “Because of Obamacare, they are not able to keep [insurance plans]. To me, that is a lie.”
Rob Reiner jumped in to blame Republicans who are “refusing to make this better,” and Wasserman-Schultz reminded Maher that they hate Obamacare so much, they shut down the government.
Maher said this was Obama’s “no new taxes” moment, “a campaign pledge that didn’t hold up to the complexities of governing.” When Wasserman-Schultz stood firm, Maher told her that “the ship has sailed” on Obama’s credibility and taken a blow to his “sterling reputation for honesty.”

Jon Stewart interrogates Debbie Wasserman Schultz about the “troubling” effects of Obamacare on ‘The Daily Show’

Debbie Wasserman-SchultzAfter receiving no acceptable answers about the failed Obamacare implementation from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, comedian Jon Stewart was forced to consult Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) — and the host essentially interrogated the Chair of the Democratic National Committee about the President’s healthcare law, as she tried her best to dodge his questions.
Wasserman Schultz sat down with Jon Stewart on Tuesday’s episode of The Daily Show, where the duo had a lengthy discussion about the current state of Obamacare. Their interview comes just three weeks after Stewart shredded Sebelius on his show.
The host primarily wanted to know two things: why President Barack Obama didn’t know about the problems with HealthCare.gov prior to its dismal launch and why Obama promised that people wouldn’t lose their current health insurance — and now they are.
“Both of those things strike me as really troubling at a foundational level,” the host said. “Is that understandable as a concern?”
“Well, there’s no question that it was problematic that the website was not working properly right from day one,” the Congresswoman dodged.
“But that he [Obama] was not aware of it,” Stewart pressed. “Apparently after a day, they said he found out.”
“I think we have to look past and not focus — ” Wasserman Schultz responded.
The host began laughing, but then let her continue.

Obamacare's Ticking Clock

Last week, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski tried to call the Healthcare.gov helpline and got an operator. That’s right: an operator! The call went through! MSNBC, the unofficial AV department of the Democratic party, had a scoop. The network tweeted out the big news along with a link to the video: “Mika called the Obamacare hotline and got through with no problems — right on air. WATCH.”
It’s a sure sign that the bar has been lowered to curb height when spinners are touting the exciting news that phone calls actually go through. Someone picked up the phone! Quick, hang that “Mission Accomplished” banner. Never mind that you simply cannot buy insurance from the exchanges over the phone. But the fact you can get someone on the line to tell you that is, I suppose, progress of a kind.
A few hours later, the head of the DNC, Florida representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, went on MSNBC to insist that criticisms were overblown because she actually knew a young man in her state who signed up.
This, too, is progress given that the first — widely publicized — young man to enroll, Chad Henderson, actually never signed up. And many of the members of the studio audience for this week’s Rose Garden infomercial hadn’t been able to sign up yet, either. Still, there’s an old saying: “The plural of anecdote is data.” Now we’ve entered the era of “The singular of anecdote is data, too.”
This can only go on for so long until the Democrats cut and run from a program they’ve invested nearly their entire political identity in. Already you can see the thought bubble over some of their heads: “We lost control of Congress for this hot mess?”
Ah, but Obamacare is more than a website, don’t you know? The president himself said so in his Rose Garden infomercial. And that is absolutely true. But so is this disaster. In fact, for critics of Obamacare the square-wheeled “rollout” of Healthcare.gov was a gimme. Put another way, it’s been like watching a rival football team face-plant on the way out of the locker room.

DNC chief: Democrats can run and win on ObamaCare in 2014

Democrats will be able to run on ObamaCare and win in 2014, the party chairwoman's insisted Friday.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said the troubled rollout of ObamaCare's enrollment website, which has frustrated thousands trying to enter the site and bruised the administration, won't hurt Democrats in next year's midterm elections.

"Democrats will run on the Affordable Care Act and win," Wasserman Schultz said.
Speaking to reporters after an address to the DNC's Women Leadership Forum on Friday, Wasserman Schultz said the law will help the party with female voters because of the benefits women will receive under the healthcare law.

"No, on the contrary, we know that women are already benefiting significantly from the part of ObamaCare that's already been implemented," she said.

Wasserman Schultz cited the ability of women to receive free birth control and preventative care under the law as examples.

A number of Democrats have signaled worries about the law and the website.

Ten Democratic senators signed a letter on Friday urging Health and Human Service Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to extend the deadline for enrolling to make sure people unable to access ObamaCare's enrollment website will have time to do so.

Civility Deb

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, official portrait, 112th Congress.jpgDebbie Wasserman Schultz is out, today, with her first book.  In his Politico Playbook, Mike Allen calls it a "D.C. Must-Read."  Which, if true, is the most depressing news to come out of the Imperial City so far this week. But, then, it is only Tuesday.
Anyway … the book is called For the Next Generation: A Wake-Up Call to Solving Our Nation's Problems.
Just what the country needs, a wake-up call.  Why didn't someone think of that sooner?
Allen reports that Ms. Wasserman Schultz:
...started writing the book three years ago because she wanted to describe how being a young mom changed her outlook on what members of Congress should do to make good policy: “We tell our kids to work together and care about their community. We need to do the same.”
And quotes from a chapter called “DiscourseNot Discord”:
“Differences of opinion are natural and healthy aspects of a democracy governed by two parties, and we must be able to express these differences with civility. But as anyone who has observed Washington knows, we are not always able to hold ourselves to these standards of conduct. The modern political climate is nastier than any in recent memory, marked by party members who tend to hector one another when they should be engaged in constructive debate.”
Outside of Washington that sort of stuff is laughable.
"Civility," thanks to the Wasserman Schultz’s of the world, has become another word without meaning.  Only political utility.

[VIDEO] Wasserman Schultz: All-Women Team ‘Would Get This Done in a Few Hours’

(CNSNews.com) - Women would do a better job than men of solving the current government stalemate, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said on Monday -- because "a woman doesn't want to ruin the person on the other side of the aisle or the table."
"If we put all the women, Republican and Democrat, in the House together, the consensus from all of us is that we would get this done in a few hours," Wasserman Schultz -- the head of the Democratic National Committee -- told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
Why not put Sarah Palin in the room, joked Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), who was interviewed along with Wasserman Schultz.
"You know, I would argue that even if Sarah Palin were in the room, that we could find a way to get to yes, because that's usually women's goal," Wasserman Schultz replied.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Tries to Explain Obamacare Enrollment Failures

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was on MSNBC today in an attempt to answer questions about why the Obamacare implementation hasn't gone as planned. She stumbled her way through the interview and even brought up former vice president and presidential candidate Al Gore to solidify her argument about the country "moving on" after an election.
"So we're uh, clearly, uh, eight days in and, to be insisted on data being produced day by day for a six month enrollment problem is...a little unfair."
Got that? DWS is now arguing taxpayers and journalists asking for information about how many people have enrolled in Obamacare, a program they're paying for and a program already changing the economy in a negative way, is "unfair" to the bureaucrats running the system.
DWS also argues the administration was expecting 50,000 people day to visit the site and that the glitches are happening simply because so many people are trying to sign up for Obamacare. I call bull. Barack Obama and Democrats repeatedly sold and campaigned for Obamacare on the talking point of 45 million Americans being uninsured and that the Affordable Care Act would fix the problem. They were wrong, unprepared and now, its showing.
