Rep. Smith Challenges Government Over Giving $364 Million to Liberal Group

Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars have be paid to a liberal journalism group, and the agencies responsible don’t seem to want to talk about it. But some in Congress aren’t afraid of the issue. Rep Lamar Smith, R-Texas, addressed the issue on the floor of the House of Representatives on Jan. 13, asking his fellow members of Congress why taxpayers were “subsidizing a liberal news outlet.”
Internews is a liberal journalism nonprofit that has gotten more than $364 million from the U.S. government in the past 10 years, as well as $1.7 million from liberal billionaire George Soros.  It has also founded three liberal journalism outfits: Link TV, the Earth Journalism Network and Climate Commons.
(video after break)
“Mr. Speaker, since 2002, over $362 million dollars in government grants have gone to fund a liberal news organization by the name of Internews,” Rep. Smith said.
“The Business and Media Institute describes Internews as a liberal journalism nonprofit and states that not only does it push a liberal agenda but it also has helped create at least three other liberal organizations.
“Why are taxpayers’ dollars subsidizing a liberal news outlet? This is a misuse of the public’s money. People need unbiased information so that they can form their own opinions and make educated decisions.
“One of the greatest challenges a democratic America faces today is a biased media.  It is inexcusable and irresponsible for the federal government to give any of the American taxpayers’ dollars to a liberal media organization.”
Rep. Smith earlier told the Business and Media Institute that such funding was “inexcusable and irresponsible.”
The amount of government funding going to Internews is staggering. In 2011 alone, it received $52,350,784 in government grants, according to its 990 tax forms. This makes up 92.4 percent of the $56,644,153 in total reported revenue for that year. And 2011 wasn’t unusual. According to the Soros-funded Center for Public Integrity, “all but $1.6 million of the $26.7 million in revenue it [Internews] reported in 2004 came from the federal government.”

WHY I PREFER TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS

While the likes of Jon Stewart and others in the liberal intelligentsia might dismiss the idea there is a War on Christmas, the truth of the matter is that with every passing year people are more and more reluctant to wish one another a Merry Christmas. At times, people are expressly forbidden from saying Merry Christmas, as was the case this year at an elementary school deep in the heart of Texas. This is no accident and we are the poorer for it.

Although a recent poll indicates more Americans prefer to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, I believe most of us deep down would rather say Merry Christmas. In my own observations, most people settle for saying Happy Holidays. This term has been generally used as a catch-all phrase for Christmas and Chanukah, and in recent years has encompassed the celebration of Kwanzaa. But this year Chanukah began the night before Thanksgiving, thus giving birth to the term Thanksgivukkah. Although this convergence won’t happen for another 7,000 years it does seem particularly odd to say Happy Holidays when the last night of Chanukah took place on December 5.

Now I have nothing against anyone saying Happy Holidays if they mean it from the bottom of their hearts. No Salvation Army bell ringer ought not to have their bell rung if they choose to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

Nevertheless, I do find that when people do

[VIDEO] ‘WE HAVE A DUTY TO CONTINUE TO PUSH’: GUESS WHICH MAINSTREAM MEDIA JOURNALIST IS SAYING THAT

Take a moment to read the following quote in the Washington Post, and then try to guess who it comes from:
“I believe we have to be willing to ask tough questions but also not always be willing to accept a non-answer. When the answer is not responsive, I think we have a duty to continue to push. I don’t see it as going in there to be confrontational [but] as being pretty insistent about getting straight answers.”
That may sound like the life mission statement of a conservative journalist, vowing to be a watchdog of a liberal administration.
But it’s not — at least in the traditional sense.
Jonathan Karl profile in Washington Post reveals hes not afraid to ask tough questions
Jonathan Karl (Source: ABC News)
It’s from Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl at ABC, which has never had to defend itself as a stalwart of conservatism. But Karl’s many run-ins with Press Secretary Jay Carney — and his defense of such actions — has him sounding more like a red-leaning writer than the liberal Boogey Man that many conservatives fear dominate the White House press room.
Professionally, Karl has been unafraid to challenge Carney. Case in point: Nov. 4. That’s whenCarney got so upset with Karl’s probing on the failed Healthcare.gov rollout that he openly mocked him:
And then there was Dec. 18, where Karl mocked the recent “brosurance” ads featuring colloquial language and attempts at being hip.

ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL REQUIRES PARENTS TO SELF-IDENTIFY AS LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE

OAK FOREST - An assignment sent home from an Oak Forest, IL high school government class is raising eyebrows among parents who are shocked by the questionnaire they and their children are required to fill out. The questionnaire (below) has the parents identify their positions on a number of highly-charged issues, and then places them on a "political spectrum."
The survey is from the textbook "U.S. Government 2", published by the "The Center for Learning". It is part of Oak Forest High School's Common Core curriculum, which according to the school district's website is to ..."provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them."
EPSON005 copy
EPSON007 copy
In Stage 1 of this particular unit, students are to match political philosophies with political parties, debate a political/social/economic issue from their viewpoint on the political spectrum and identify the viewpoint of a social issue on that spectrum.
In Stage 2, the students are to conduct a "Political Spectrum Interview" (questionnaire above) "...with someone 40 years old or older." The specific curriculum instructions are as follows:

Screen Shot 2013-12-02 at 10.53.41 AM
Parents of some of the students told Illinois Review they fear possible retribution on their children if they refuse to complete the survey. However, each had determined not to do so.

My Obamacare Cancellation - "Seething at a President I helped elect."

President Barack Obama pauses as he speaks on the Affordable Care Act in the Brady Press Briefing Room. (Photo by MANDEL NGAN/AFP/Getty Images)We received the letter in the mail a couple months ago. The good people at Regence Bluecross Blueshield were pleased to inform us that due to Obamacare our current low-monthly premium, comically-high deductible medical policy would no longer exist come January 1, 2014. Pleased, because a new and better plan would be offered in its place. Old monthly premium: $578 for a family of four (non-smoking, helmet-wearing, and paternally snipped). New premium: $1,123. A 94% increase.
Once the sound of boiling blood dissipated, in my head I heard my Republican friends chuckling at the sight of a liberal Democrat hoisted ten stories high on his own petard. How’s the view up there, Obamacare Ollie
For the past 15 years my wife and I have made our living as freelance writers. (To young readers, I say: Do not do this. Your bliss is marvelous, but its following will need to be supported by a banker, plumber, union machinist or tenured faculty member.) As such, our health insurance is our own concern. Over the years we’ve held on to our coverage by letting our co-pay and deductible rise and our covered procedures fall. You may be aware that the three-tiered state exchange policies are labeled Gold, Silver, and Bronze, reflecting their price and level of coverage. If our policy still existed it would fall into the column of Wood.
But Wood we had—and Wood we liked.
No more. O.K., into the state exchange we go. I voted for it. Fair enough.

Meet Valerie Jarrett daughter Laura’s computer scandal tinged father-in-law

For the record:  Valerie’ Jarrett’s daughter Laura’s father-in-law Canadian Liberal politician Bas Balkissoon is not (thank God!) Canada’s Prime Minister.  Nor, as some news outlets are indicating,  is he a MP.  (Member of Parliament). Balkissoon—one of many Canadian Liberals with deep ties to the Obama administration—is a minor player MPP (Member of Provincial Parliament ) at Ontario’s Queen’s Park, irreverently known to the plebes as the ‘Pink Palace’.

Before landing at the Pink Palace as a ready-made Liberal MPP, Balkissoon was a City of Toronto councillor involved in a computer leasing scandal.
Wow, what a coincidence!

Just as key Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett’s fingerprints are all over the Obama administration, the Obama administration’s fingerprints are all over the Province of Ontario.  And last time we checked, Ontario was still a duly recognized province in Canada.

If Obama’s presence by proxy in Ontario doesn’t give Canadians who believe in sovereignty the creeps, nothing will.

“The Balkissoon-Jarrett marriage is one of several links between Premier Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals and Obama.  From 2000 until 2002, David Axelrod, another key adviser to the president, was a paid McGuinty strategist. (Toronto Star, June 20, 2012).

“As well, Toronto Liberal Jean-Michel Picher, who helped the premier in the run-up to last year’s provincial election, was an early Obama insider who worked on the then-Illinois senator’s historic presidential primary campaign in 2007 and 2008.”

And that’s just the Obama links in the Liberal Ontario government.

[VIDEO] MSNBC's Roberts: Republicans Want To Stop Women From Voting

WHERE DO THEY COME UP WITH THIS CRAP????  DO THEY MAKE IT UP AS THEY GO ALONG???

The liberal claim that Republicans are engaging in a perpetual “war on women” seems to have taken a new turn on MSNBC. No longer does the term “war on women” apply only to access to abortion but now encompasses voting rights as well.
Appearing on MSNBC on October 29, liberal MSNBC host Thomas Roberts claimed that Republicans are trying to restrict a woman’s access to the ballot box. This comes one week after fill-in host Michael Eric Dyson made a similar complaint on The Ed Show. [See video after jump.]
Speaking with Terry O’Neill, president of the liberal National Organization for Women, Roberts introduced a segment that initially centered around abortion before quickly focusing on new voting laws in Texas. O’Neill began her talking points by claiming that:
The Republican Party in Texas is not only waging war on women's access to reproductive health care, they're even waging war on women's access to the ballot box. They are now enforcing rules that are aimed to stop women from voting.
Roberts seemed happy to take Ms. O’Neill’s bait playing a clip of State Senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth), who is running for governor of Texas, complaining that:
I was required to sign an affidavit because the name on my voter registration card is slightly different than the name on my driver's license. My driver's license includes my maiden name. My voter registration card does not.

[VIDEO] GOP Congressman Duffy Strikes Again, Tells Mika Brzezinski 'You’re Part of the Problem'

Congressman Sean Duffy (R-Wisc.) became an internet sensation last week when he decimated MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell for her “pathetic news reporting.”
For the Congressman’s second act, he took on MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Wednesday telling the Morning Joe co-host, “You’re part of the problem” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CONGRESSMAN SEAN DUFFY (R-WISCONSIN): Mika, I got to tell you. Mika, my mom is a good liberal, and she loves you, and she’s happy I’m on the show. But I think you’re part of the problem. And you’re part of the problem because the Republican caucus sometimes can be unreasonable, but look how far we moved. We said we want to defund it, and now we’re going to delay it. And now we’re just going to ask for some very simple tweaks and reforms.
And if you actually called out your liberal guests and said, “Why won’t you join ObamaCare? If it’s good for Americans, it should be good for you?” Listen, if an American family can’t sign up on the website, why are you going to tax them? That’s not right.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI, CO-HOST: So you have a lot of good questions, but as “part of the problem,” as you so kindly put it, I will ask you very honestly…
DUFFY: I like asking you questions better, Mika, but, okay.
BRZEZINSKI: It’s fine. Do you not think that members of your party, especially in Congress and in the Ted Cruz group, are not imploding the Republican Party, big picture? Just big picture. Politics. Put all this aside for a second. Are you guys not imploding?
DUFFY: Big picture, I think this was a horrible strategy. I came on your show and I said that. If we had allowed ObamaCare to roll out and for two weeks America saw the dysfunction, and then as we roll into the debt limit and negotiate an increase, I think we would have got a one-year delay, because America would have said this is only the fair and right thing to do.
BRZEZINSKI: From a messaging standpoint, Congressman, I agree with you. And your mom is fabulous by the way.
Isn't it marvelous seeing Republicans standing up to the liberal media rather than just accepting the bias?
Bravo, Congressman! Bravo!

Ann Coulter Talks to Mediaite About Issuing a ‘Fatwa’ for Conservatives, and Why She Mostly Watches MSNBC

Ann Coulter is back with her latest book, Never Trust a Liberal Over Three — Especially a Republican , and this time she’s taking aim not just at the usual suspects on the left, but also the Republican Party and the forces within that have consistently lost many recent elections. Unlike previous Coulter works, the book concedes that Democrats do something better than their GOP counterpart: They know how to win elections, she writes. In a recent interview, Coulter talked to Mediaite about the book, her outlook for the GOP, and why she actually watches MSNBC more than any other cable news outlet. Read below, in two pages:
This book seems to take a more defeatist tone than your others. At one point, you write: “Even when we win, we can’t win.” Have you given up?
I speak for a lot of Americans when I say that. After Nov. 6, 2012, I was out. I was done with politics. I was actually considering starting to write columns on Gossip Girls,Revenge, the cultural stuff I enjoy. But then I got reinvigorated by the gun debate. And so I tried to lure people back into conservative politics by writing a fun book.
Your basic case seems to be that Republicans need to learn how to win elections…
I’m like the conservative ayatollah. Okay, I’m issuing a fatwa: We have to win elections! After Mitt Romney’s loss, it was a natural human tendency to lurch towards a silver-bullet solution. Some people blamed the tea party, others blamed the “establishment.” In some cases, sure, but the main thing is that with the right, it’s about self-expression. For example: In 2008, I supported Rep. Duncan Hunter during the GOP primaries. It was stupid of me to support him, even though he’s good on every single issue. Why? Because my next door neighbor is good on every issue. But we need someone who can win. We need to see how sneaky, manipulative, and single-minded Dems are about winning elections.
You write a lot about how the Democrats are “better” at winning elections…
When it comes to electoral politics, the Democrats operate on brains. They win elections by looking at electorate and modeling their races; Republicans win on national waves. The GOP does nothing and just happens to get elected when Americans are frustrated.
I’m proud of Republicans for being the party of ideas. But when it comes to elections, we lose that. For instance, right now conservatives are tearing down [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell. But what did he do?! By attempting to primary him, they’re just mirroring their concern about getting back “respectable” Republicans. I don’t even know who the establishment candidate that Mitch was pushing that pissed everyone off. Did he run any differently than Rand Paul? No. Mitch didn’t support the amnesty plan. Rand was supporting that for a month. It’s this image thing that “We are the purists, we’re against the establishment.” But that’s how liberals are.
And think about this: In the last GOP primary, Romney was the only candidate — other than Michele Bachmann — who absolutely opposed amnesty. So whose side were the ones calling him a RINO on then? Huh? The average American hates amnesty; and who sold them out? Not Romney, but Marco Rubio.
We have to get away from shibboleths and focus on races.

[VIDEO] Tavis Smiley: 'Black People Will Have Lost Ground in Every Single Economic Indicator' Under Obama

PBS's Tavis Smiley made a comment Thursday that every African-American as well as liberal media member should sit up and take notice.
Appearing on Fox News's Hannity, Smiley said, "The data is going to indicate sadly that when the Obama administration is over, black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator category" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
SEAN HANNITY, HOST: My last question to you. You often do these seminars with the state of black America. I've watched them on C-Span and different channels, right?
TAVIS SMILEY: Right.
HANNITY: Are black Americans better off five years into the Obama presidency?
SMILEY: Let me answer your question very forthrightly. No, they are not. The data is going to indicate sadly that when the Obama administration is over, black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator category. On that regard, the president ought to be held responsible.
But here's the other side. I respect the president. I will protect the president. And I will correct the president. He's right on this government shutdown. Republicans are thwarting the rule of law with the Constitution. If they let this debt go into default, they're trampling again on the Constitution.
Wow!
Now to be fair to Smiley, he has been hard on the president concerning how his policies are economically damaging the black community, but this is the first time I believe he's been this harsh on national television with such a large audience.
Sadly, he's right.
So why would this community re-elect someone doing so much damage to them economically?
Is it possible they're not aware of it because most liberal media members other than Smiley aren't reporting it?
Hmmm.

New Ann Coulter book rages at GOP with 'change or die' theme

Photo - Best-selling conservative author Ann Coulter, who has used her nine books to launch vicious attacks on Democrats, is turning her guns on Republicans in a new book out Monday, calling Florida Sen. Marco Rubio a hypocrite, urging donors freeze contributions to the GOP, and demanding that only governors or senators run for the party’s presidential nomination.
Her point in “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3 -- Especially a Republican” is to shake the party out of its doldrums in time for the 2014 and 2016 elections.
“Elections matter. We’re trying to make the country a better place. But if our candidates don’t win, we can’t do that,” she writes. “This isn’t a game. We aren’t picking basketball brackets. Bad things happen when Republicans lose elections and Democrats have veto-proof majorities,” she adds in the book provided in advance to Secrets.
While she is most noted for skewering liberals in her weekly columns and nine previous New York Times best sellers, “Never Trust” puts her on a path for a head-on collision with the establishment Republican Party and even a favored 2016 presidential candidate as she urges the GOP to purge itself of failed tactics, lazy consultants, and gripless potential candidates.
Take Rubio. He is one of the party’s leading 2016 candidates, but Coulter dresses him down for promising effective immigration reform while campaigning for the Senate but spitting out a more liberal alternative once elected.
She quotes him slamming amnesty for illegal immigrants as a Senate candidate in 2010. “And then he got to Washington and his big legislative initiative was a path to citizenship for illegal aliens! Yes, Rubio’s plan to solve the problem of illegal immigration from Mexico is to bring them all here,” she scolds.
The fashionable pundit pummels the party for wooing untested politicians for president. “Why are any congressmen or businessmen showing up in our presidential primaries? They are never going to get the nomination,” she says.
The solution is a governor, just like four of the last six presidents. “I don’t care if it makes you feel good, conservatives: Do not ever, ever considering running a presidential candidate who has not been a senator or preferably a governor. No, not even our beloved Ben Carson. What are we concentrating on? That’s right: winning.”

JERRY BROWN'S MIRACLE: HE MADE CALIFORNIA TAXES WORSE

Gov. Jerry Brown has been signing a slew of bills designed to make Democrats happy--not just in California but nationwide. From protecting illegal aliens from deportations for minor crimes, to allowing non-physicians to perform abortions, he has checked every box on the blue social agenda. (He did veto a bill that would have let non-citizens serve on juries, but many reluctant jurors might describe that as doing them a favor.)

At the same time, however, news about California's economy remains alarming. On Wednesday, the non-profit Tax Foundation ranked California 48th out of the 50 states (again) in its "business tax climate"--the worst west of the Mississippi River, and ahead of only New Jersey and New York. Like other low achievers, California has "complex, non-neutral taxes with comparatively high rates," according to the foundation report.
That is the real news being drowned out by liberal applause. Democrats tell themselves that Brown has done more than enough to turn the state around, having balanced the budget by raising taxes and shifting funds over from the state's underperforming carbon auctions. But the reality is that the state's economy continues to be hollowed out by the liberal gentry's utopianism, the public unions' greed and the underclass's needs.

Third Colorado state senator may face recall

Energized by historic recalls of two Colorado state senators last month, activists have begun collecting signatures to oust state Democratic Sen. Evie Hudak from office.
Hudak, who represents Westminster, a suburb northwest of Denver, is a favorite target of the GOP for her liberal voting record and a propensity to attract bad PR for herself.
Under Colorado election law, those wishing to prompt a recall election must collect 18,900 signatures from district residents – 25 percent of the total votes cast in the last election. Hudak was initially elected to the state Senate in 2008 after two terms on the state Board of Education.
In both senate elections, Hudak has won by narrow margins; in 2008 she topped Republican Libby Szabo with 51 percent of the vote. In 2012, she won with only 47 percent, narrowly edging out Republican Lang Sias by 0.7 percent. Sias’ defeat was blamed in Republican circles on the presence of Libertarian Lloyd A. Sweeny, who garnered nearly 7 percent of the vote. GOP analysts believe a majority of those Libertarian votes would have otherwise gone to Sias.
This is the second effort at recalling Hudak this year; the successful September recalls of Democrats John Morse and Angela Giron were the result of an original campaign that targeted them as well as Hudak and state Representative Mike McLachlan.
The recall petition cites strict new gun restrictions passed by the Colorado legislature as a reason for recalling Hudak. “She has infringed upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. She has voted to make all citizens less safe and to drive hundreds of jobs from Colorado,” the petition reads.
“A small group is seeking to undo the will of voters, who re-elected me to the Senate last November. Unable to defeat me then, they are now attempting a political power grab using a low-voter-turnout, no-mail-ballot recall election strategy,” Hudak told The Denver Post in a statement.
Voter turnout was indeed low in last month’s elections in Colorado Springs and Pueblo; in Morse’s Colorado Springs district only 21 percent of voters participated.

NYT: Obama’s Aura of Defeat

In an argument that was echoed and amplified around the liberal twittersphere yesterday, New York’s Jonathan Chait made the case that the Romney campaign has bluffed the press into covering the last two weeks of the campaign as though Obama’s losing. Like George W. Bush in 2000, who famously (and probably foolishly) campaigned in California to lend himself an air of inevitability in the closing days of the campaign, Team Romney’s current brash confidence is designed to persuade the media to overlook the underlying numbers that still point to an advantage for the incumbent. And it’s working, Chait argues: The “widespread perception that Romney is pulling ahead,” he writes, “is Romney’s campaign suckering the press corps with a confidence game.”
I agree with Chait that the numbers still show Obama with a slightly clearer path than Romney to an (excruciatingly narrow) electoral college victory. But if you’re looking for a reason (besides, of course, the national polling showing an ever-so-slight Romney edge) why the media narrative has tilted toward the Republicans over the last week or so, I think the Romney campaign’s guarantee of victory has mattered much less than the Obama campaign’s recent aura of defeat.
Losing campaigns have a certain feel to them: They go negative hard, try out new messaging very late in the game, hype issues that only their core supporters are focused on, and try to turn non-gaffes and minor slip-ups by their opponents into massive, election-turning scandals. Think of John McCain’s desperate hope that elevating Joe the Plumber would change the shape of the 2008 race, and you have the template for how tin-eared and desperate a losing presidential campaign often sounds — and ever since the first debate cost Obama his air of inevitability, he and his surrogates have sounded more like McCain did with Joe the Plumber than like a typical incumbent president on his way to re-election. A winning presidential campaign would not normally be hyping non-issues like Big Bird and “binders full of women” in its quest for a closing argument, or rolling out a new spin on its second-term agenda with just two weeks left in the race, or pushing so many advertising chips into dishonest attacks on its rival’s position on abortion. A winning presidential campaign would typically be talking about the issues that voters cite as most important — jobs, the economy, the deficit — rather than trying to bring up Planned Parenthood and PBS at every opportunity. A winning presidential campaign would not typically have coined the term “Romnesia,” let alone worked it into their candidate’s speeches.

'If four Americans get killed, it's not OPTIMAL': Obama's extraordinary response to Comedy Central question about shifting story after Benghazi attack

President Barack Obama, during an interview to be shown on Comedy Central, has responded to a question about his administration's confused communication after the Benghazi attack, by saying: 'If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal.'

Obama was speaking to Jon Stewart of The Daily Show for a programme to be broadcast tonight.

Stewart, a liberal whose young audience is full of potential voters prized by the Obama campaign, asked the president about his handling of the aftermath of the Benghazi attack.
Not optimal: President Barack Obama, pictured left, discussed the killing of four men in Benghazi while speaking to Jon Stewart, right, on The Daily Show
Not optimal: President Barack Obama, pictured left, discussed the killing of four men in Benghazi while speaking to Jon Stewart, right, on The Daily Show

Ambassador Chris Stevens, diplomat Sean Smith and security men and former U.S. Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were killed by terrorists on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 - an attack that the White House initially blamed on a spontaneous protest about an anti-Islam movie made in California.

Stewart asked: 'Is part of the investigation helping the communication between these divisions? 'Not just what happened in Benghazi, but what happened within.

'Because I would say, even you would admit, it was not the optimal response, at least to the American people, as far as all of us being on the same page.'

Former Aide On Obama: ‘It’s Stunning That He’s In Politics, Because He Really Doesn’t Like People’

Neera Tanden, a former aide to both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, had this to say about the relationship of the two presidents:
Clinton, being Clinton, had plenty of advice in mind and was desperate to impart it. But for the first two years of Obama’s term, the phone calls Clinton kept expecting rarely came. “People say the reason Obama wouldn’t call Clinton is because he doesn’t like him,” observes Tanden. “The truth is, Obama doesn’t call anyone, and he’s not close to almost anyone. It’s stunning that he’s in politics, because he really doesn’t like people. My analogy is that it’s like becoming Bill Gates without liking computers.”
It's a revealing statement from Tanden, who "served as senior advisor for health reform at the Department of Health and Human Services, advising Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and working on President Barack Obama’s health reform team in the White House to pass the bill," according to her bio at the Center for American Progress. She is currently president and CEO of the liberal organization.

Christian University Bans Conservative Student Club

Conservative students at Azusa Pacific University, an evangelical Christian university near Los Angeles, have been blocked from starting a chapter of Young Americans for Freedom because the school took issue with the group’s principles.
FOLLOW TODD ON FACEBOOK FOR CULTURE WAR STORIES. CLICK HERE TO JOIN!
The YAF is a program sponsored by the Young America’s Foundation — dedicated to introducing young people to the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise and traditional values. The foundation also owns and preserves the Reagan Ranch.
Patrick Coyle, vice president of the Young America’s Foundation, said they were approached by students who wanted to be recognized as a YAF chapter.
“They were told by the administrators that they could not change their name because they had looked at our website and didn’t like the language we used,” Coyle told Fox News.
Administrators specifically took issue with references to liberal professors and radical feminists who are trying to take over college campuses across the nation.
Ashley Blackwell was one of the students hoping to launch the YAF chapter. She is currently the president of the Young Conservatives club on campus.
“It is really disappointing that a school, which promotes diversity and uses the mantra ‘everyone matters,’ would ban an existing club from changing its name,” she told Breitbart.com — which first reported the incident.
So Coyle called Chuck Strawn, the director of the university’s “Office of Communiversity.”
“I asked if there were any written rules the students had violated and he said no,” Coyle said. “He said it was just their opinion.”
He said the specific language Azusa Pacific took issue with is:
“Are you tired of liberal ideas dominating your campus? Are you tired of liberal and Marxist professors indoctrinating your classmates? Do you want to advance conservatism?
“If you answered yes, then you should start a Young Americans for Freedom chapter. YAF chapters make a difference by boldly advancing freedom and conservatism.
“Radical feminists, big government bureaucrats, fringe environmentalists, race-baiters, Islamo-fascists, and run of the mill leftists are distraught that you would even think about promoting conservative ideas.”
