Contrary to Obama’s ‘Narrative,’ Al-Qaeda Threat Getting Worse, Say GOP Critics

yemen(CNSNews.com) – The al-Qaeda terrorist threat against America is “getting worse, not better,” it’s “deceptive” of President Obama to suggest otherwise, and a lack of U.S. leadership is contributing to the problem, two senior Republican lawmakers charged on Sunday.
Speaking on the day when the State Department reopened 18 out of 19 diplomatic missions that had been shuttered for a week over a specific terrorist threat, U.S. House Homeland Security Committee chairman Mike McCaul (R-Texas) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) both took issue with the administration’s practice of differentiating between “core al-Qaeda” and affiliates.
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, McCain accused the administration of “semantic gymnastics” while McCaul on NBC’s Meet the Press said it was making a “distinction without a difference. It’s all al-Qaeda.”
“And it’s spreading,” McCaul continued. “It’s getting worse, not better. And I think the American people need to know that. And I believe it’s very deceptive for this president to give a narrative that is pretty much over when, in fact, what I see is a spider web throughout northern Africa into Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan. This threat is getting worse, not better.”
Obama maintains that “core al-Qaeda” – the Pakistan-based group led by Ayman al-Zawahiri since the death of Osama bin Laden – has been severely weakened even as affiliates in Yemen, Iraq and elsewhere still pose a significant threat.

[VIDEO] EXCLUSIVE: JESSE JACKSON SPEAKS ABOUT FLORIDA BLACK-ON-WHITE BUS BEATING

Many are asking questions about the silence from civil right "leaders" such as Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton about the recent beating of a white student by three black classmates on a Florida school bus, given their role in turning the Trayvon Martin case into a national civil rights controversy. I caught up with Rev. Jackson at Chicago’s annual Bud Billiken Back-to-School Parade on Saturday.

Here was Jackson's full, unedited response:
Breitbart News: Rev. Jackson, can you comment on the recent beating that happened between three black kids that beat up the kid on a school bus? Does black leadership have a responsibility to say something about that kind of violence?
Jackson: People who care should speak to it. I was in Africa until yesterday, I heard about it. We are trying to make contact with the family of the kid because we should discourage people attacking people, whether it’s black, white, white, black, black, that people should stop attacking people. We must learn to live together respectfully in a civilized way. And it becomes white, black, black white, it just makes matters worse, it does not make matters better.
Breitbart News: The question is based on the Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman case. That case was brought into the national arena as a very racially divisive case, as a white on black crime.
Jackson: It’s hard to make a comparison, in one case a man was unarmed, killed by another man, last year a hundred and thirty five blacks were killed, black men, unarmed, killed by vigilantes, police, killed by security guards, so whether it’s the case of Oakland, California, or the case in New York, it’s just too much of it. Wherever it occurs, it must always be discouraged; there must be a deterrent from it occurring. We must urge people to live in civilized ways.

Agencies buying hotel rooms for surge of Mexican illegal immigrants, others released

EXCLUSIVE: A sudden influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico requesting asylum is overwhelming immigration agents in San Diego, forcing agencies to rent hotel rooms for some undocumented families and release others to cities around the U.S.

Documents obtained exclusively by Fox News show Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been paying for hotel rooms for dozens of recently arrived families to relieve overcrowding inside the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, Calif., processing centers. Some ICE employees are working overtime and others have been asked to volunteer to work weekend shifts. “Duties include intake, placements, transports and release of family groups and unaccompanied minors,” according to a memo obtained by Fox News.

The surge has raised suspicions about what is driving the influx, amid claims that illegal immigrants have learned they can attempt to get asylum by using a few key words -- namely, by claiming they have a "credible fear" of drug cartels.
“This clearly has to have been orchestrated by somebody,” said former U.S. Attorney for Southern California Peter Nunez. “It's beyond belief that dozens or hundreds or thousands of people would simultaneously decide that they should go to the U.S. and make this claim.”

Poll: Anthony Weiner breaks a record

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GO ANY LOWER??
Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner are shown. | AP PhotosMore than two-thirds of New Yorkers find Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer’s campaigns “embarrassing” and Weiner’s unfavorable rating has set a record, a new poll found on Monday.

According to the Siena College poll, 68 percent of New York voters, including 62 percent of those in New York City, say the national attention placed on Weiner and Spitzer’s campaigns is embarrassing.

Spitzer fares better than Weiner, boasting a 59 percent unfavorable rating, versus Weiner’s 80 percent unfavorable rating among New Yorkers.

“Weiner has set a new all-time Siena College Poll record with 80 percent of voters viewing him unfavorably — including three-quarters of Democrats and New York City voters — compared to only 11 percent who have a favorable view of America’s most infamous tweeter,” Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said in a statement.

The poll of 814 New York registered voters was conducted by telephone Aug. 4-7. It has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

Morning Bell: Defiance: Jim DeMint on “Hannity”: Time to Make Noise to Defund Obamacare

“We’re losing the country,” a Maryland man said at a town hall meeting. I want to see more defiance!
He wasn’t talking to local tea partiers; he was talking to his Republican Member of Congress.
demint_playbuttonIt is time to take a stand against Obamacare. Heritage President Jim DeMint and Heritage Action for America CEO Michael Needham are echoing this grassroots call for defiance.
In The Wall Street Journal, they laid out the case for defunding Obamacare:
…despite all the grand speeches, votes and chest-pounding by Republicans promising to try to stop this destructive new law, none of this has required much courage so far—nor has it been effective. Obamacare can be stopped only if Congress denies funding for it in the next spending bill, which must be passed in September. That would immediately halt the implementation of Obamacare and fulfill a defining GOP promise to the American people. Voting for a spending bill that excludes Obamacare will take courage and integrity.
DeMint and Needham believe in this so much that they are going around the country to spread the word.

SUDDEN FLOOD OF ASYLUM REQUESTS AT U.S./MEXICO BORDER

At the Otay crossing near the San Diego border last Monday, about 200 people coming from Mexico gained entry to the United States all using the same key phrase; they claimed they had a 'credible fear' of drug cartels. According to KSAZ FoxPheonix:

So many were doing this that they had to close down the processing center and move the overflow by vans to another station.
"They are being told if they come across the border, when they come up to the border and they say certain words, they  will be allowed into the country," said a person who did not want to be identified on camera.  "We are being overwhelmed."
This apparent new shift in tactics to enter the United States comes at a time when theAssociated Press is reporting a spike in the number of asylum requests in the past few years:
According draft testimony for USCIS Associate Director Joseph Langlois that was to be submitted for a congressional hearing on asylum requests last month, USCIS received more than 19,119 asylum requests through the end of May. The agency anticipates receiving more than 28,600 by the end of the fiscal year.
According to the testimony, during the 2009 budget year the agency received just 5,369 such requests.

However, this new phenomenon is out of all proportion, even with this spike. To put those numbers in perspective with the 200 people making asylum requests on one day at one border crossing, 200 people a day equals 73,000 people a year -- close to three times the total number received all year, at all border crossings.
KSAZ reports the new tactic could easily overwhelm the immigration system, quoting immigration attorney and former immigration official Pete Nunez:
"To make our system even more ridiculous than it has been in the  past," he adds. "There are no detention facilities for families, so the family would have to be split up. We don't want to split families up, so we end up releasing people out into the community on bond, on bail."
Nunez says, "It's a huge loophole."
"There has to be a policy change, something implemented, an emergency implementation that will stop this, or otherwise we will have thousands coming in."

First dog Bo is airlifted to Obama holiday home

When President Barack Obama goes on holiday to the seaside things can get complicated.

Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft.
Arriving in the idyllic coastal retreat of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mr Obama left behind him in Washington DC high profile debates over the budget, government surveillance and his health care reforms. Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.
In the air he swapped his suit and tie for khakis and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, while Mrs Obama wore a yellow-and-white summer dress.
Bo, the president's Portuguese Water Dog, arrived separately on one of two MV-22 Ospreys, a hybrid aircraft which takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane.
It was the first time the Ospreys have been taken on holiday by a US president.

Critics blast Jackson, Sharpton over silence on Florida school bus beating

Critics blast Jackson, Sharpton over silence on Florida school bus beating

Self-appointed civil rights leaders and celebrities remained mum on the vicious beating of a white sixth-grader at the hands of three older African-Americans in Florida, despite a growing chorus of critics who called their silence hypocrisy given their recent, racially-charged condemnation of the Sunshine State.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who both blasted Florida in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting and the acquittal of George Zimmerman in Martin's death, with Jackson calling it an "apartheid state" and "our Selma," have not spoken publicly of the brutal beating aboard a school bus caught on cellphone and surveillance video. Neither Jackson nor Sharpton responded to requests for comment from FoxNews.com.

“Three 15-yr-old black teens beat up a 13-yr-old white kid because he told school officials they tried to sell him drugs,” former congressman Allen West, an ex-Army Colonel who is African-American, wrote on his Facebook page. “Do you hear anything from Sharpton, Jackson, NAACP, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, liberal media, or Hollywood? Cat got your tongues or is it that pathetic hypocrisy revealing itself once again? Y'all just make me sick.”
