Democrats grasping at straws to energize base on 2013 results

Democrats lost big in the New Jersey governor's race and barely won the Virginia gubernatorial contest, but that hasn't stopped them from claiming the 2013 election was a major victory for them.
And they’re taking some very big leaps to do so.
In an e-mail sent to subscribers this weekend, Democratic National Committee Communications Director Mo Elleithee wrote that “we defied some pretty big trends in this past election.”
Elleithee then lists four “big” trends that were broken; let’s take a look at each one separately.
1. “For the first time in almost four decades, the winning candidate in Virginia's governor's race is from the same party as the president.”
And? How is that a victory for the Democratic party?
Under both Republican and Democratic presidents, the state has elected a governor of the opposite party. With the host of issues that Republican nominee Ken Cuccinelli was faced with (the government shutdown, current Gov. Bob McDonnell and weak fundraising), the fact that Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe won is not surprising.

[VIDEO] Protesters slam Jimmy Kimmel over 'kill everyone in China' joke

More than 1,000 people picketed ABC’s headquarters in Burbank on Saturday to protest a Jimmy Kimmel segment that joked that the United States should “kill everyone in China.”
Burbank police said they responded to the protest in the 2300 block of Riverside Drive after some demonstrators went into a restricted area. However, police said the protest was peaceful and no one was arrested.
The protest was part of a nationwide move backed by Chinese American organizations against the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” recurring segment called “Kids' Table.” Similar protests...

Philippine typhoon deaths climb into thousands

TACLOBAN, Philippines (AP) - As many as 10,000 people are believed dead in one Philippine city alone after one of the worst storms ever recorded unleashed ferocious winds and giant waves that washed away homes and schools. Corpses hung from tree branches and were scattered along sidewalks and among flattened buildings, while looters raided grocery stores and gas stations in search of food, fuel and water.
Officials projected the death toll could climb even higher when emergency crews reach areas cut off by flooding and landslides. Even in the disaster-prone Philippines, which regularly contends with earthquakes, volcanoes and tropical cyclones, Typhoon Haiyan appears to be the deadliest natural disaster on record.
Haiyan hit the eastern seaboard of the Philippine archipelago on Friday and quickly barreled across its central islands before exiting into the South China Sea, packing winds of 235 kilometers per hour (147 miles per hour) that gusted to 275 kph (170 mph), and a storm surge that caused sea waters to rise 6 meters (20 feet).
It wasn't until Sunday that the scale of the devastation became clear, with local officials on hardest-hit Leyte Island saying that there may be 10,000 dead in the provincial capital of Tacloban alone. Reports also trickled in from elsewhere on the island, and from neighboring islands, indicating hundreds, if not thousands more deaths, though it will be days before the full extent of the storm's impact can be assessed.

[VIDEO] Actor Steven Seagal Criticizes Obama Regime And Its Control Of Press, Defends Right To Bear Arms

Interesting RT interview with Steven Seagal; he praises Putin to some degree which no doubt RT appreciates since it is a media arm of the government.
Criticism of Obama starts around 6:00. He says basically the media are propaganda masters for Obama, we’re not getting the truth.
He also defends gun rights, the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms to protect against evil governments. He also suggests that some of the mass shootings are engineered. “Armed guards are in stores” Seagal said, “Why can we not protect our children?”. He went on to say the issue is really mental health and parenting. He notes that japan has some of the most violent movies, yet don’t have the issue of violence.

[VIDEO] Iran general: No doubt Israel and America will be attacked

Iran general: No doubt Israel and America will be attacked
Even before the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 world powers ended in Geneva early Sunday with no deal, an Iranian general lashed out at America Saturday and warned both the U.S. and Israel that they will be attacked.
According to Fars News Agency, the regime’s outlet run by the Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Massoud Jazayeri, deputy chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, said “America’s interests and all of Israel are within the range of the Islamic Republic and there is not the slightest doubt among Iran’s armed forces to confront the American government and the Zionists (Israel).”
Jazayeri said Israel is pulling the strings of Washington and “the American government is one of the most hated and evil governments in the world.”
The general mocked President Obama’s position that the military option remains on the table over Iran’s nuclear development. “If America had the ability and the will for war, it would allow no doubt in attacking Syria. America will soon find out that Iran’s power cannot be ignored.”
The Geneva negotiations ended early Sunday with no deal after three days of high-level talks when France questioned the initial draft and if it went far enough in curbing Iran’s illicit nuclear program. Iran and the 5+1 world powers are to meet again on November 20.
As reported by The Daily Caller on Friday, Iran remained insistent on major relief from sanctions, especially in the banking and oil sectors, as well as an acceptance by world powers of its right to enrich uranium. Iran continued to refuse to give in on a temporary freeze on the construction of its plutonium reactor in Arak, which is due to go live next year and could provide Iran a second path to nuclear weapons. Another sticking point for Iran is the demand to give up its stock of 20 percent enriched uranium, a key step to nuclear weaponization.
Meanwhile, Mohsen Rafiqdoost, a former minister of the Guards and a long-time regime official engaged in buying arms on the black market, also talked of Israel’s destruction in an interview with Basij News. He praised Hassan Tehrani Moghadam, the brain behind Iran’s ballistic program who was assassinated in 2011, for designing missiles through reverse engineering and predicted that achievement will enable Iran to obliterate Israel.

Obama Warns GOP: “A Price to Pay” for Defying “the American People”

President Obama warned Republicans Friday that there will be “a price to pay” for defying the will of the American people, which apparently, He Himself embodies.
Obama’s l’état, c’est moi moment occurred during a Miami fundraiser for House Democrats, whom he is desperate to install as the majority in the House so he can revive his agenda, which has inconveniently been beached on the shoals of Republican opposition.
So he’s pushing the line that in defying The Leader, it must be that Republicans are defying America itself.
Obama centered on the cornerstone of his failed agenda, the immigration bill.
The only way we can continue to place pressure to get that bill done is by making sure that the other side — or at least that small faction on the other side — understands there’s a price to pay when you don’t act on the basis of the interests of the American people. And so that’s something that I hope we can still get done by the end of this year.
This is typical Obama. Conservatives – forget for a moment he’s supposed to be their president too – are just a faction of heartless bastards who hate the “American values” Obama thinks he represents.
What’s more, they have no principles, and are mainly trying to stick it to Obama:
And right now, it’s being held up. It’s being held up not because it’s not a good idea. The majority of the American people support it. It’s being held up because there’s a small faction in the other party that has decided we don’t want to do anything and our main goal is obstruction.
Obama then proclaims himself as above politics even as he practices its lowest arts:
And, by the way, if the Republicans decided to pass it — and nobody would be happier than me — even though it would be to their political advantage to do it, because ultimately I’ve run my last election.
Well, he hasn’t run his last election. He’s campaigning for House Democrats. He suggests he’s ready to put politics aside even as he hurls calumnies, shedding his responsibility as president to be at least a step out of the mud.

A 2,000-pound satellite may crash in your backyard Sunday night

Who do you sue if you’re hit by a satellite?
A defunct satellite from the European Space Agency the size of a Chevy Suburban is set to plunge to Earth somewhere between Sunday night and Monday afternoon -- and experts say there's no way to precisely determine where it will crash.
GOCE, or Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer, ran out of gas last month and has been steadily sinking towards the Earth. As the planet rotates, the satellite whizzes over nearly every point on Earth. Experts expect it to plunge harmlessly into the oceans that cover 70 percent of the surface of the planet. But what if it doesn’t? What if it takes out your old Accord?
“Basically, governments are responsible for their own spacecraft,” explained Marcia S. Smith, president of the Space and Technology Policy Group in Arlington, Va. “[If] you could prove a piece of GOCE hit your Honda, you could go to your government to make a claim,” she told FoxNews.com.
But don’t put the ESA’s lawyer on speed dial just yet. Most of the fragments of the satellite are likely to burn up on re-entry, said Heiner Klinkrad, Head of ESA’s Space Debris Office according to an ESA blog.

Obama’s Own Cousin Calls Him A Liar On National TV

Even Obama’s own family is at odds with the “unaffordable” Healthcare Act. On a special Obamacare edition on Fox News’ “Hannity,” Dr. Milton Wolf, who is running for the U.S. Senate against Senator Roberts (R-KS), divulged the fact that he and President Obama are cousins. I am quick to remind people though, you cannot choose  your family, what you can do is choose to rise up  and stop your family from destroying America- Dr. Milton Wolf Hannity asked Wolf  if his cousin was honest when he told American’s they could keep their healthcare plans if they wanted to, prompting Wolf to respond ,”The truth is, that was a lie.” -

Wolf reminded Americans that Kathleen Sebelius own report stated that 14 million Americans would lose their health insurance coverage from Obamacare, but hid that from the congress “to ensure that  Obamacare would pass.” Wolf also pointed out that his opponent, Senator Roberts, was one of two Republican Senator to vote to confirm Sebelius.

Houston voters skip nostalgia, reject measure to save Astrodome

Election results Tuesday might have doomed Houston's iconic Astrodome.

HOUSTON -- The Astrodome, once lauded as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," may soon be a landmark of the past.
About 53% of voters Tuesday rejected a ballot measure that would have paid to renovate the country’s first air-conditioned domed stadium.
The nostalgic value of the now rusty Dome, shuttered in 2009, may have been lost on new voters in Houston and surrounding Harris County, which adds about 10,000 residents a month and is now home to about 4.4 million, officials said. Many local sports fans are drawn to the nearby gleaming Reliant Stadium, which opened in 2002 and hosts the Houston Texans football team.

Los Angeles: Proud Bird, aerospace watering hole, about to run dry

With a martini in hand, John Cashen was deep in a discussion of military electronics, when a 747 jetliner seemed to float past in slow motion onto LAX's south runway complex.
Cashen, who pioneered the radar-evading design of the B-2 Stealth bomber, stopped to watch the plane — just a few hundred yards away — thunder past his table at the Proud Bird, the aerospace industry's favorite watering hole for more than a half-century.
"There's no place else like this in the world," said Cashen, 76, who retired from Northrop Grummanin 1993 but still consults for the firm.
The biggest names in aerospace have sat at the bar here to watch the planes land, people such as Jimmy Doolittle, Charles Lindbergh and Neil Armstrong.
But the Proud Bird's days may be numbered.
John Tallichet, the current owner and son of the late founder, said it will close Nov. 21, after an unsuccessful two-year effort to negotiate a new lease from the property owners, Los Angeles World Airports.
The Los Angeles World Airports Commission says it can't help the historic gathering place, saying that federal law, which controls some aspects of airport operations, requires current market value for rents.
Although Boeing Co., Northrop Grumman Corp., the Aerospace Corp. and Raytheon Co. all have major facilities nearby, the industry is much smaller than in its heyday and less able to support the red-meat-and-fish dining room.
Nonetheless, supporters of the restaurant are outraged by the upcoming closure, saying that it would mean the loss of an important piece of Los Angeles' history.
Tallichet blames a tangle of federal and city laws that have raised his costs.

[WATCH] Duck Dynasty cast surprises in hilarious “Blurred Lines” parody at the CMA Awards

The Robertsons, Carrie and BradMove over, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke. The Robertson family of “Duck Dynasty” fame have replaced twerking and those “Blurred Lines” with long beards and “Duck Blinds,” taking the stage with country artists Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley on Wednesday night’s Country Music Association Awards.
Jase Robertson, his wife Missy, Willie Robertson and his wife Korie of the A&E hit show joined CMA co-hosts Paisley and Underwood for their own rendition of Thicke’s hit song. The cast boogied their way on stage as Underwood and Paisley sang, and then presented the first award of the night.
“What a crazy time to be alive today. There’s two major phenomena going on in pop culture today. ‘Blurred Lines’ with Miley Cyrus tweaking right beside him,” Paisley told the audience.
“And a TV family that hasn’t shaved since the Reagan administration and makes duck calls,” Underwood continued.
The pair then launched into their more family-friendly version of the song, with the help of some surprise guests.
“I drive a truck,” Paisley sang as Underwood quack, quack, quacked in the background. “What rhymes with truck? I’ll tell you what rhymes with truck. … Duck.”
“You’re a country girl … I feel fantastic. They’s about to get blasted. These ducks are plastic. Duck blinds,” the pair crooned.
As the Robertson family danced their way to the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers. Country music’s Tim McGraw and Faith Hill boogied along with the music, showing their love for the group.

[VIDEO] 2010 OBAMA ADMITS MILLIONS 'MIGHT HAVE TO CHANGE THEIR COVERAGE'

Last night on Fox News' "Special Report" and CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper
," video aired of President Obama admitting that due to ObamaCare, "eight to nine million people … might have to change their coverage." The key words there are "have to."
The setting is the February of 2010 health care summit with Republicans. Minority Whip Eric Cantor is addressing the president directly on the issue of people losing their insurance due to the Affordable Care Act:
--

 --
CANTOR: …Because I don't think you can answer the question in the positive to say that people will be able to maintain their coverage, people will be able to see the doctors they want, in the kind of bill that you are proposing:
OBAMA:  Since you asked me a question, let me respond. The 8 to 9 million people you refer to that might have to change their coverage -- keep in mind out of the 300 million Americans that we are talking about -- would be folks who the CBO, the Congressional Budget Office,  estimates would find the deal in the exchange better -- would be a better deal. So, yes, they would change coverage because they got more choice and competition.
So even though the president knew that eight to nine million people "might have to change their coverage" way back in February of 2010, afterwards, for three-plus years -- especially while running for reelection -- Obama continued to reassure the American people that if you like your health care plan, you can keep it. Period. End of story.

The question of what the president knew and when he knew it is now answered.

Family of Navy Yard shooting victim sues Navy, Veteran Affairs $37.5 million

The family of a woman killed during a mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard in September is seeking $37.5 million from the Navy and the Department of Veterans Affairs, saying that red flags about the deteriorating mental health of the killer were ignored.
During a news conference Friday in Tampa, attorneys for the family of Mary DeLorenzo Knight said they are seeking the money in an administrative claim. The claim, which is the first step toward filing a lawsuit, has been delivered to the agencies.
Aaron Alexis gunned down 12 people at the Navy Yard on Sept. 16 before being killed in a shootout with police.
At issue is whether the company that employed Alexis knew he was having mental health problems and whether the federal agencies were aware of his troubles.
