Officers Warn There's a War Front Opening Up on the Southern Border by Charlie Daniels

We are rightfully concerned about what is going on in the Middle East and all the places where we have troops deployed in harm's way. But one of the most immediate and potentially explosive situations the United States of America faces today is on our long and porous border with Mexico.

I know, I know, sounds like a cliché. It's been said so much; you think you've heard it all before. Well, I thought so, too.
I am not referring to just the illegal pedestrian traffic that walks across the border every night, which in itself is an enormous economic and social problem, but there are even more ominous things going on below the radar that bespeak a totally out of control situation that is inundating the southwest like an invasion of rattlesnakes.
I had a conversation with two law enforcement officers in Arizona whose territory includes the prime drug and human trafficking routes the Mexican Cartels and Coyotes use to cross tons of dope and thousands of illegals into this country.
Now I have known for years that the border situation was rapidly deteriorating and descending into a gorilla war zone but I didn't realize the extent the Mexican Drug Cartels have basically become a power unto themselves, more powerful than Mexican law enforcement and all but overwhelming to ours.
They have grown in wealth, power and influence and are so totally ruthless and intimidating that the Mexican government is either unable or unwilling to stop them from doing anything they want to South of the border and they're becoming increasingly bold and fearless on the North side.
These officers had personally stopped a truck carrying 5,000 pounds of marijuana and when the driver was released on bail he never showed up in court, probably murdered by the Cartel in the officer's opinion. No witness, no testimony. This is not an anomaly; they find massive loads of drugs on a regular basis, hidden in ingenious, innocuous ways and the drug lords get better at concealing them all the time.

Morning Bell: The Imperial President Will Act on His Own

Obama acceptance speech re-electionIn a recent email to supporters, President Obama lamented the frustrating inadequacy of his office. “There’s only so much I can do on my own” without Congress, he confessed.
As a matter of constitutional interpretation, he’s right. But in practice, the President has shown a distinct contempt for the legal limits on his power.
Obama’s imperial presidency has manifested itself in many ways. Often he willfully neglects his constitutional duty to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” As we’ve seen witheducationimmigration, and health caresuspending the law amounts to rewriting the law.
Other times, the President is more direct. The legislative power may be vested in Congress, but that didn’t stop him from rewriting welfare legislation on his own, hollowing out the successful federal work requirements.
Unfortunately, it appears that this is only the beginning of Obama’s imperialism.
Once liberated from the constraints of reelection, he wasted little time signaling his enthusiasm for unilateral action in his second term.
“Congress is tough right now,” he recently declared, “but that’s not going to stop me.
Armed with electoral immunity, the President is also more candid in justifying his actions.

Does Obama need OprahCare?

Could Oprah sell ObamaCare to America?
That’s the question on the lips of healthcare activists who are hoping the talk show queen will put her considerable influence behind the promotional campaign for President Obama’s signature law.

The billionaire media mogul is a supporter and family friend of the Obamas but has given no indication she’s interested in participating in the enrollment push that is set to begin this fall.

That said, the White House is aggressively tapping its network of allies in Hollywood as it looks to drum up publicity for ObamaCare, with Oprah among the most powerful supporters of all.

Marketing experts say her involvement would be a game changer.

"She has one of the most powerful brands in America," said Allen Adamson, managing director at brand consulting firm Landor Associates.

"If the White House isn't calling her, they should be."

The administration has pursued celebrity endorsements for ObamaCare as a way to drum up participation in the insurance exchanges that are set to launch on Oct. 1.

Judge Denies Motion To Dismiss OK Lawsuit Challenging Health Care Law

[File Photo]OKLAHOMA CITY -
A federal judge has denied part of the federal government's motion to dismiss Oklahoma's lawsuit challenging the new federal health care law.
U.S. District Judge Ronald White handed down the ruling Monday in Muskogee. The ruling grants parts of the government's request to dismiss the case but denies other parts.
White rejected the government's argument that Oklahoma lacked standing to challenge the law. The decision means that parts of the lawsuit, filed by Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt in 2011, will continue to be litigated.
Pruitt challenged implementation of the law after the Internal Revenue Service finalized a rule to allow the government to punish "large employers," including state governments, with millions of dollars in penalties in states without state health care exchanges. Pruitt says that is not permitted.

Benghazi and the Banality of Evil

Is it just me, or is the string of distractions that seem to pop up right on cue every time new light is about to be shed on the Benghazi story getting a little old?
Months late, CNN has gotten around to "breaking" a story that might help to complete the disturbing puzzle for the mainstream public, namely the allegation that Benghazi was the hub of a CIA weapons-running operation.
Within hours, this was washed from the headlines by the "chatter" indicating an imminent terror plot that required the United States to close numerous diplomatic facilities.  (Hurray, NSA!)  And then, within days, the mainstream media was "breaking" the news that the first charges had been laid in connection with the Benghazi attack.  (How convenient.)
True to pattern, a mainstream media outlet will get its "honest journalism" points, lifting the lid on the facts just long enough to release a little pressure before the pot explodes, but guaranteeing that by Sunday morning Benghazi will once again have been buried by supposedly more urgent issues.
As many of us have been observing since the fall of 2012, the Benghazi outrage -- an attack that, due to the Obama administration's aggressive passivity, became a massacre -- is the "scandal" that will never go away.  And yet the story never achieves the fever pitch of many past, far lesser abuses of power, because the administration, in cahoots with its propaganda wing in the American news media, always finds a way to tamp down the big questions at the very moment those questions threaten to break loose in the American consciousness.
