CARSON: MLK would be alarmed by black-on-black violence, lack of family values

It is hard to believe that 50 years have elapsed since the famous “I have a dream speech” of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the Mall in Washington. I was an 11-year-old child in Detroit languishing in the midst of poverty, but very interested in the strides that were being made in the civil rights movement.

I was the only black kid in my seventh-grade class and over the previous two years had risen from the bottom of the class to the top. My mother had forced us to read, which had a profound positive effect on both my brother Curtis and myself. I was quite optimistic that things were getting better for black people in America.

If King could be resurrected and see what was going on in America today, I suspect he would be extraordinarily pleased by many of the things he observed and disappointed by others. He, like almost everyone else, would be thrilled to know that there was a two-term black president of the United States of America and a black attorney general, as well as many other high government officials, business executives and university presidents.

Perhaps just as thrilling would be the sight of black doctors, lawyers, airline pilots, construction foremen, news anchors, school superintendents and almost any other position imaginable in America. The fact that seeing blacks in such positions no longer raises eyebrows is a testimony to the tremendous progress that has been made in America over the last 50 years.

Krystal Ball Says GOP Has Replaced Jim Crow as Enemy of Black Americans

MSNBC IS HOPING THEIR IS A RACE WAR SO THEY CAN BLAME THE REPUBLICANS!!!

MSNBC’s Krystal Ball slammed the Republican Party in a tongue-in-cheek monologue at the end of Tuesday’s The Cycle, declaring that the GOP is the new Jim Crow. But in the process, she also drew attention to the problem of complacency among Democratic voters, seemingly resorting to an offensive stereotype that they are generally lazy, disinterested in public policy, and need to be driven by fear.

Much of Ball’s rant was focused on how new Republican-imposed voter ID laws in many states have increased the desire to vote among traditional Democratic constituencies. She concluded by blasting the GOP as the new purveyors of Jim Crow laws: [Video below. MP3 audio here.]

"Fifty years ago, the March on Washington focused on ending Jim Crow, a disgusting villain that hid behind the law to deprive people of their votes and sometimes their lives. Fifty years later, we have no Jim Crow and without a villain to focus on, it's hard to get people fired up. Congratulations, Republicans. You have taken the place of Jim Crow. You are now the people conspiring to keep folks from voting."
 

That’s incredibly insulting to the vast majority of Americans that polls show want to prevent voter fraud through common-sense voter ID measures, including some two-thirds of black and Hispanic voters. Sadly, you can expect this kind of propaganda from Krystal Ball, who is one of the many partisan Democrats with a regular role on MSNBC. But in the earlier portion of her monologue, she perhaps unintentionally hit on the problem of Democratic complacency. She implied that Republican policies had inspired so many liberals to march on Washington last Saturday:

[VIDEO] Maxine Waters Slams New N.C. Voter ID Laws: N.C. Has ‘Just Gone Crazy’

(CNSNews.com) - During the National Urban League’s Redeem the Dream Summit on Friday, Rep. Maxine Waters said the Supreme Court’s decision in Shelby County v. Holder was a “slick, calculated dastardly decision,” and criticized North Carolina’s new voter ID laws, saying “North Carolina has just gone crazy.”

 It has passed legislation to require certain kinds of ID, restrict early voting and to end same-day registration. The latest bill is a bill that was signed into law earlier this month by North Carolina Governor Pat McQuary,” Waters said at the summit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

“This extreme law attempts to prohibit parents of college students from claiming them as dependents when they file their taxes, if the students register to vote anywhere other than their parents homes. Under the new law, those students would be required to provide only a government-issued photo,” she continued.

[VIDEO] MSNBC Viewer Prompted by Ed Schultz Asks if GOP ‘Itching’ for ‘Race War’

Upon his return to weekdays, MSNBC host Ed Schultz demonstrated what his news network has become by taking the racial vitriol to a yet-unseen level. After making a detailed case on Tuesday about efforts underway in America to reintroduce racial segregation, take away the constitutional rights of African-Americans, and reinvigorate prejudice, Schultz was confronted by a viewer who was moved to ask if the Republican Party is trying to foment “a race war.” Uncomfortable by the results of his own actions, Schultz said that the media has a duty to “tone things down” when they get too heated.

Schultz began his Tuesday program by launching into a tirade about how Republicans, and conservatives in general, are actively attempting to restore segregationist policies in the U.S.

He cites, as examples, a disturbing but isolated episode in which a black family was denied service at a restaurant, a neo-Nazi group’s plan for a whites-only camp in South Dakota, and the “spewing of hate” from conservative talk radio in the South.

After plastering a Confederate flag across a map of the lower 48 states, Schultz launched into a tirade – fuming with rage – about how the rights of African-Americans were “under attack” virtually everywhere.

Upon returning from a break, a viewer asked a natural question of Schultz: “Do you think some on the right are itching for a race war in this country?” the viewer asked.

Shultz, suddenly made uncomfortable by the fruits of his irresponsible agitation, pulled back. “I think we in the media have a responsibility to tone things down when it gets hot, if you know what I mean,” he said.

Sen. Cruz: Attacking Syria Is Not In National Interest

SEAN HANNITY: Here with reaction to this and much more is Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Senator, thanks for being with us. What should the response be from your perspective?

SEN. TED CRUZ, R-TEXAS: Well, Secretary Kerry is right that Assad using chemical weapons is an outrage and it's wrong. But unfortunately missing from his statement and from the president's approach so far has been a focus on what the touchstone should be, which is the vital U.S. national security interest of this country.

The United States Armed Forces is not -- doesn't exist to be a policeman for the world. And I certainly hope the reaction isn't simply lobbing some cruise missiles in to disagree with Assad's murderous actions. Rather, our focus should be on protecting our national security, which leads to two things.

Number one, under no circumstances should we be arming rebels who are affiliated with al-Qaeda. And this administration has already suggested they want to arm the rebels with no reliable means of differentiating al-Qaeda from non-al-Qaeda.

And number two, our concern should be those chemical weapons, preventing them from falling into the hands of Hezbollah, preventing them from falling into the hands of al-Qaeda. That should be guiding our actions, not expressing some moral outrage from a university faculty lounge.

HANNITY: All right. What he is saying is it's more obscenity, yeah, we agree. It's inexcusable, yeah, we agree. But you mentioned firing some cruise missiles. That's been the talk that they're drawing up plans to do so. Is this going to be a so-called therapeutic bombing so they can just check off the box where they crossed the red line and we responded, but that's it?

CRUZ: Look, if the objective is to make a symbolic step then that makes sense. If the objective is to protect our national security, it is difficult to see what a few cruise missiles would do. The focus should be, the only justifiable reason for U.S. military forces to be engaged, for U.S. military might to be engaged, is to protect our national security. And sadly, that has been the missing variable from this administration's approach from the beginning as they allowed Assad to slaughter over a hundred thousand of his people. And their focus hasn't been on protecting U.S. interests.

And you know what's striking, Sean, is that Secretary Kerry and the president have said, they want to go to the United Nations for approval. How about going to the United States Congress? You know, the Constitution gives Congress the authority to declare war. And this president doesn't seem to view it as remotely a priority to go to Congress, to make the case why any military action is in our national security. And I think that's his responsibility to do.

HANNITY: Do you think the president has an obligation at this point to do that before any attack takes place?

CRUZ: I think the president has an obligation to make the case to Congress and the American people why any military action, if there is to be any, is justified and why it's focused on U.S. national security. What it shouldn't be is just a symbolic gesture of disapproval. It should rather be focused on protecting citizens of America.

Rush Limbaugh: Obama Will ‘Hijack’ MLK Anniversary to Push His Own Agenda

Rush Limbaugh predicted today that at tomorrow’s events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington,President Obama will “turn the occasion into something about him and his presidency,” promoting his personal political agenda on a day dedicated to the legacy of the civil rights movement and Martin Luther King Jr.

Limbaugh noted how it appears Obama will address the impending budget battle and “attack the wealthy,” the latter a charge he found amusing, considering Obama will be joined by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Foxx, and Forest Whitaker. Limbaugh mocked the idea that these people would stand before a crowd and “claim that they have everything in common with the audience that will be there.”

Limbaugh then shared what he believed to be the most cynical part of Obama’s expected remarks.

“To take the 50th anniversary of that event and to convert it–hijack it–into something to advance your political agenda, that’s as bad as wedding crashing, funeral crashing that the Clintons are famous for. This is really unseemly.”

Limbaugh added this is “close to these guys doing their Miley Cyrus impersonation.”

Golden State No More

The Golden State is not so golden anymore. California is broke. With a $20 billion dollar deficit and tax revenues down 27% from last year, Governor Schwarzenegger looks to Washington D.C. for a bail-out to rescue the state from financial ruin. Like the executive passing a beggar on a street corner, Washington looks the other way. Unemployment is statistically 12.3%, but functionally, it runs closer to 20% of the work force. Nowhere is unemployment more tragic than in the Central Valley, the fruit and vegetable producer of the world. The unemployment rate in arguably the most fertile land on the planet is near 30% as residents line up in bread lines to feed their families. How did this happen? What happened to the Golden State?

California is a victim of its own success.

For decades following WWII, people flooded into the golden state in search of weather, opportunity and the good life. California delivered. Under Governor Pat Brown in the 1960s, California had wonderful weather, plentiful water, new highways, and the best public school systems in America. Every student had access to a strong community college system and top students were guaranteed admission to the University of California. Agriculture, Hollywood, aerospace and construction provided more jobs than workers.

The 1970s brought harbingers of California’s future. The environmental movement muzzled a robust real estate industry with alphabet agencies like AQMD, CEQA, EIR and CCC. Building moratoriums raised home prices along the coast. Aggressive land use controls pushed development inland creating urban sprawl and long commutes as residents sought affordable housing inland. Governor Jerry Brown quipped, “If we do not build it, they will not come” and shut down highway construction, public school construction and added layers of new regulations. The people came anyway.

The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 dealt California a cruel blow. The peace dividend meant the end for many high paying aerospace jobs and defense contracts. The recession that followed was felt far deeper than in the rest of the country. California climbed out of its recession led by wave after wave of new millionaire software developers during the dot com revolution.

In 2001, the dot come bubble burst. The politicians in Sacramento, emboldened by an endless supply of money from the dotcommers to state coffers, spent over $100 billion while revenues fell to just $70 billion. They ran up a $38.2 billion deficit in 2002 under Governor Gray Davis – more than the other 49 states combined. The people recalled Davis in 2003 and replaced him with the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

[VIDEO] UPDATE: North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest Reveals the Bureaucracy Behind Common Core

Why did North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest just receive 40,000 sheets of paper in the mail?

In July, Forest sent the state’s Department of Public Instruction (DPI) a request for information on the Common Core national standards. DPI officials responded by asking Forest to send them 10,000 sheets of blank paper so they could answer the 67 questions. He obliged.

On August 2, he received his official reply: “12 boxes containing approximately 40,000 sheets of paper, with a cover letter that did not directly answer any of his 67 questions, but rather referred him to 134 separate websites, linking to over 100 separate pages, 320 separate reports, hundreds of original source documents, 40 presentations, 1 blog post and a thumb drive.”

Forest’s response:

This is government bureaucracy at its best. When an administrative body that is required to provide information to its board members fails to be forthcoming with the requested information it should raise a red flag.

Obama: Back to the Racist Future

Obama, Democrats, racial agitators, their media enablers exploiting the carnage is an unmitigated tragedy

America is enduring an ever-increasing spiral of heinous black-on-white violence. Less than a week after 22-year-old Australian baseball player Christopher Lane was allegedly executed by three “bored” wannabe gang-bangers, 88-year-old World War II veteran Delbert “Shorty” Belton was allegedlybeaten to death by two 16-year-old black American teens, Demetrius Glenn and Kenan D. Adams-Kinard, both of whom have histories of violent crime. In Poughkeepsie, NY, 20-year-old Javon Tyrek Rogers has been charged with first degree murder and first degree burglary in the killing of 99-year-old Fannie Gumbinger.

On August 13, two black male youths and their female accomplice werecharged with robbing and killing 27-year-old David Santucci in Memphis, TN. Despite these and other incidents, President Obama, Democrats, and the usual gaggle of racial arsonists remain conspicuously silent. That is no accident. All of them have a vested interest in turning back the clock on race relations and they have all played a role in where we are today.

Despite their selective caution in bringing race politics into cases such as those mentioned above, President Obama and his race agitator allies have no problem whatsoever with rushing to judgment and rashly injecting themselves into highly sensitive and controversial situations. Recall when Cambridge police arrested Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. Obama said it was self-evident that the department “acted stupidly” for arresting someone at their own house, ceding to the narrative that the police likely only arrested Gates because he was black and therefore suspicious. In fact, the police only arrested Gates because he embarked on an enraged tirade and became belligerent and disorderly.

In the Trayvon Martin case, Obama contended a son of his would look like Martin, or that he himself could have been Martin “35 years ago.” In his second speech regarding Martin, Obama did comment on the reality of runaway violence committed overwhelmingly by black American males, but then excused the behavior because “some of the violence that takes place in poor black neighborhoods around the country is born out of a very violent past in this country, and that the poverty and dysfunction that we see in those communities can be traced to a very difficult history."

NYPD Designates Mosques as Terrorism Organizations

The New York Police Department has secretly labeled entire mosques as terrorism organizations, a designation that allows police to use informants to record sermons and spy on imams, often without specific evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

Designating an entire mosque as a terrorism enterprise means that anyone who attends prayer services there is a potential subject of an investigation and fair game for surveillance.

Since the 9/11 attacks, the NYPD has opened at least a dozen "terrorism enterprise investigations" into mosques, according to interviews and confidential police documents. The TEI, as it is known, is a police tool intended to help investigate terrorist cells and the like.

Many TEIs stretch for years, allowing surveillance to continue even though the NYPD has never criminally charged a mosque or Islamic organization with operating as a terrorism enterprise.

The documents show in detail how, in its hunt for terrorists, the NYPD investigated countless innocent New York Muslims and put information about them in secret police files. As a tactic, opening an enterprise investigation on a mosque is so potentially invasive that while the NYPD conducted at least a dozen, the FBI never did one, according to interviews with federal law enforcement officials
.
The strategy has allowed the NYPD to send undercover officers into mosques and attempt to plant informants on the boards of mosques and at least one prominent Arab-American group in Brooklyn, whose executive director has worked with city officials, including Bill de Blasio, a front-runner for mayor.

The revelations about the NYPD's massive spying operations are in documents recently obtained by The Associated Press and part of a new book, "Enemies Within: Inside the NYPD's Secret Spying Unit and bin Laden's Final Plot Against America." The book by AP reporters Matt Apuzzo and Adam Goldman is based on hundreds of previously unpublished police files and interviews with current and former NYPD, CIA and FBI officials.

Rush Limbaugh Derangement Syndrome, Obama-Style

He seeks to control debates by banning opponents from them.

Concealed within President Obama’s carping about Rush Limbaugh is a distaste for democracy. Obama is not the first aspiring tyrant to complain that the pen is mightier than the sword, or in this case, that the pundit is mightier than the president.

Speaking to CNN last week, Obama whined that Republicans listen to Rush Limbaugh too much. They need to “think less about politics and party and think more about what’s good for the country,” he said. “I’ve made this argument to my Republican friends privately, and, by the way, sometimes they say to me privately, ‘I agree with you, but I’m worried about a primary from, you know, somebody in the tea party back in my district’ or, ‘I’m worried about what Rush Limbaugh is going to say about me on radio.’”

If Obama’s story here is true — that GOP pols whisper anti-Limbaugh fears to him over dinner — they are even bigger weasels than previously suspected. Obama’s attempt to drive a wedge between these spineless Republicans and Limbaugh is part of his drive to build a de facto one-party state. That’s all he means by “unity.”

By “bipartisanship,” he means collusion in error, free of Rush Limbaugh and other conservative voices who would counsel against it. Talk radio is the lever by which American politics is pulled to the right, so Obama has to smash it.
