[VIDEO] Republican Weekly Address: Iran Deal Saturday August 29, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – The president’s nuclear agreement with Iran and its consequences for our national security will be the focus of this week’s Republican address,  to be delivered by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA).  Earlier this month, Royce introduced H.J. Res. 64, legislation preventing implementation of the agreement.
"Stopping Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is one of the biggest national security challenges we face.  Unfortunately, the President's Iran agreement is fundamentally flawed, and makes this dire threat more likely - not less,” Chairman Royce said. “I look forward to sharing with Americans the troubling aspects of this agreement as the House and Senate get set for a vote in September."
Rep. Royce became chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in January 2013.  He is in his 12th term representing Southern California’s 39th district.  Learn more by visiting the committee’s official website or by following the committee on Facebook and Twitter

Weekly republican Address, Sautrday August 22, 2015

The GOP is fulfilling its campaign promises to get Washington working in spite of President Barack Obama's shortcomings, U.S. Sen. John Thune said in a video address released Saturday.
The message was taped at Cherapa Place, overlooking downtown Sioux Falls, as the Republican Party’s response to the president’s weekly address, also released Saturday.
In the 5-minute video, Thune credits Republicans with passing a balanced budget without raising taxes, passing dozens of bills ranging from education to transportation to national security and repeatedly blasts the Obama administration, saying it “has presided over the worst economic recovery in 70 years.”
“As a result, too many hardworking families are stuck living paycheck to paycheck, with few chances for advancement and little access to better-paying jobs,” Thune says.

Weekly Republican Address :Corker upcoming Senate debate on president's Iran deal Saturday August 8, 2015

Rather than 'end' Iran's nuclear program, this deal allows them to industrialize it over time -- with our approval. Instead of the once promised 'anytime, anywhere' inspections, this agreement gives Iran nearly a month of advanced notice to hide any evidence of developing a nuclear weapon. And this deal won't allow a single U.S. inspector on the ground, relying on an arm of the UN to conduct those inspections. Even worse, there are two secret side deals -- we can't ever see -- that appear to restrict inspectors' access to key sites. And after only nine months, all major sanctions will be relieved. At that point, the leverage shifts from us to Iran.

Republican Weekly Address, Saturday July 25, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.  In the Weekly Republican Address, Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma says that after years of unsatisfactory short-term spending bills to fund America’s roads, bridges and highways, the Senate is now considering a long-term solution that will allow states to pursue critically needed transportation projects throughout the country.  With 54 percent of America’s major roads rated poor or mediocre, and one in four bridges requiring significant repair, states need the certainty that federal funds will be available to tackle long-term transportation and infrastructure projects. “With the DRIVE Act, we can rebuild Eisenhower’s vision, fight growing congestion, and maintain the mobility of good and services necessary to move our economy forward,” says Inhofe, chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

Weekly Republican Address: Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Saturday July 18, 2015

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling talked about the fifth anniversary of the "job-destroying" Dodd-Frank law and the GOP's goal of purging it from Washington's books in the latest GOP weekly address.

"If we want strong economic growth, more freedom and an end to bailouts, it's time we commit to making sure this anniversary is Dodd-Frank's last," the Texas Republican said. "House Republicans are working to do just that. Together, we can end Wall Street bailouts, have a healthier economy, and protect consumer choice."

GOP Weekly Address: Troop Funding 'Most Important' Role of Government, Saturday June 12, 2015

Sen. Roy Blunt encourages the passing of bipartisan legislation as well as the importance of a bill that will provide funding for troops and their families.
President Obama and other Senate Democrat leaders say they will oppose the bill unless Congress increases spending in other areas such as the Internal Revenue Service.
“We can spend all the time we want talking about other priorities and all the other things we should be doing, but almost every American and an overwhelming number of Missourians, agree with me: the most important role of the federal government is to do the one thing we sure can’t do by ourselves – defend our country,” said Blunt.

Wagner says, noting this is the latest broken promise under his health care law and that Republicans stand ready to forge better solutions for families and workers. -

[VIDEO] Tom Cotton Takes On Obama in Weekly Address, Saturday February 22, 2014

Republicans chose Rep. Tom Cotton, a Senate candidate in one of the hottest races this cycle, to deliver the party’s weekly address and go after President Barack Obama as “causing” the problems people face in Arkansas and across the country.
It’s the latest example of how leaders in both parties are showcasing Senate candidates to let their battles play out under the Dome as well as back home. Already Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor and Cotton have been on opposite sides of legislative battles, including the farm bill. And Democratic leaders gave Pryor a ready-made political wedge issue recently on a topic related to veterans benefits.
The addresses posted on YouTube by both the White House and the GOP on Saturday mornings are hardly a major national platform, but the video did give Cotton an opportunity to point out his own Arkansas roots and boast that he is a leader on an issue that helps him back home.
“Arkansans, like most Americans, have had their grit tested over the last several years through a financial collapse, recession, and a stagnant, jobless recovery. Barack Obama’s policies aren’t solving these problems — they’re causing the problem,” Cotton said.
The Republican Senate hopeful singled out the health care law as the root of many of these problems, and said, of course, the GOP has the solution.
Obama’s policies, Cotton said, “are fundamentally flawed.”
“They’re wrong for Arkansas, and they’re wrong for America. And as a result, too many Arkansans, like people across the country, are still out of work — five years into President Obama’s economic ‘recovery,’” he said. “Republicans in Congress are committed to stopping the harms caused by the President’s policies, repairing the damage, and getting America working again. We’re advocating reforms that trust patients and their doctors — not Washington bureaucrats. And we’re working to get spending under control. That’s because we trust you to make the right decisions for you and your family.”
The Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call rates the Pryor-Cotton race as Tilts Republican.
Obama’s own weekly address focused on proposals to increase the minimum wage, anotherpolitical wedge Democrats are using in hopes of keeping control of the Senate and as they attempt to win the 17 seats needed to reclaim the House.
The president said that since he first asked Congress to raise the minimum wage, six states have increased their own, but noted “only Congress can finish the job and lift Americans’ wages across the country.”
The bill to boost the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 would help 16 million Americans, Obama said.
“But even though a majority of Democrats, independents, and Republicans across the country support raising the minimum wage, Republicans in Congress don’t want to give it a vote,” he said. “Hardworking Americans deserve better than ‘no.’ Let’s tell Congress to say ‘yes.’ Pass that bill. Give America a raise. Because here in America, no one who works hard should have to live in poverty — and everyone who works hard should have a chance to get ahead.”
Get used to more messages like this in the coming months as the battle for control of Congress rages on.

‘The problem with Obamacare isn’t just a glitch. It’s fundamental and it’s taking away our freedom. At the heart of the program is the idea that the government should decide your health coverage – what you require and how much you should pay. Never mind what you want, what you need, and what you can afford.’ ~ Sen. Pat Toomey
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the Weekly Republican Address, Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania talks about how the President’s deeply flawed health care law is causing millions of Americans to lose the insurance plans they liked and pay higher premiums and deductibles under new Obamacare plans. He tells of a constituent with multiple sclerosis who was recently kicked off of her insurance plan because of Obamacare. The woman now has a choice of two plans – one that will allow her to keep her doctor and the other that will pay for her medication. “Neither plan will do both,” says Toomey. “These are the kinds of painful and unfair choices millions of people now face” thanks to Obamacare.

Weekly Republican Address: Rep. Michael Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) Saturday November 23, 2013

From cancelation letters to increased premiums, it is becoming clear that the reality of the president's health care law doesn't match what he promised. With this only the beginning of the law's implementation, it is time to start over with true patient-centered reform. The House will continue to ask tough questions about this trainwreck as well as hold the President accountable for his broken promises.

[VIDEO] Rep. Todd Young Delivers the Weekly Republican Address, Saturday November 9, 2013

In this week's address, Rep. Todd Young details how hardworking Americans were told not to worry, that their coverage would stay the same and - if anything - their costs would go down if Obamacare passed. But just the opposite is happening. To fix this, next week House Republicans will consider the Keep Your Health Care Act. No Americans should have to go to their inbox or mailbox in fear of finding out they're losing a plan they like - or worse, a plan they need. It's time to stop this trainwreck now.

[VIDEO] GOP Weekly Address: Sen. Dan Coats On How Obamacare Hurts The Middle Class - Saturday November 1, 2013

GOP: In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Sen. Dan Coats of Indiana says that fixing the faulty Obamacare website isn't going to solve the deep and systemic problems plaguing the ill-conceived health care law. "The failure of Obamacare launch is just the tip of the iceberg, and unless we act, Americans will be stuck on board this Titanic," says Coats, who has introduced legislation to delay the Obamacare mandates for one year. While the President granted a one-year delay for employers who don't provide health insurance coverage to workers, he refuses to grant similar relief to individuals and families who must purchase their own health plans. "This simply isn't fair," Coats says.
