New World Trade Center recognized as tallest building in US

An expert committee of architects has announced that New York’s new World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States at a height of 1,776 feet, surpassing Chicago's Willis Tower.

The Height Committee of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat announced its decision Tuesday morning at press conferences in New York City and Chicago.

The committee is recognized as the final arbiter of building heights around the world. It had been weighing whether a design change meant the needle atop 1 World Trade Center is part of the actual building or merely the equivalent of a broadcast antenna.

The committee announced Tuesday that the needle was a spire, and therefore, a part of the actual building. Twenty-five members of the group met in Chicago on Nov. 8 to debate the height of the building.

“To us it’s not very fuzzy it all,” said Timothy Johnson, chairman of the council.

Johnson said as the members came out of a room after they agreed that 1 World Trade Center is America’s tallest building, they realized they “had [made] a little part of history in this decision.”

A Million Muslims and Two Million Bikers

With an additional three million people descending on Washington, DC, for two separate rallies, one would've thought the National Mall would've been difficult to navigate yesterday afternoon.  It wasn't.

The Million American March Against Fear, sponsored by American Muslim Political action Committee, was only sparsely attended.  With about two dozen people present, planners' estimates fell short by about 999,976 attendees. 

This observer heard only one speech, delivered by a bearded professorial type who asserted to his few listeners that The World Trade Center Towers could not have come down the way they did unless there were explosives planted within the buildings beforehand.  As he left the stage, no one applauded.

Where I Was On September 11 By: Dan McLaughlin (Diary)

12 Years On, But Not Forgotten

Until September 11, 2001, I worked in the World Trade Center, halfway up Tower One. I wasn’t doing political blogging at the time, but was writing “the Baseball Crank” as a weekly baseball column for the online edition of the Providence (R.I.) Journal. Here’s my account of that day, written for ProJo two days later while it was all still fresh. We run this every year on the anniversary.

On Tuesday, they tried to kill me.

I am ordinarily at my desk between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning, in my office on the 54th floor of one of the World Trade Center’s towers. Tuesday, I was running late – I stopped to vote in the primary election for mayor, an election that has now been postponed indefinitely. Thank God for petty partisan politics.

Around 20 minutes to 9, as I have done every day for the past five years, I got on the number 2/3 train heading to Park Place, an underground stop roughly a block and a half, connected underground, to the Trade Center. The train made its usual stop at Chambers Street, five blocks north of my office, where you can switch to the local 1/9 that runs directly into the Trade Center mall. The subway announcer – in a rare, audible announcement – was telling people to stay on the 2/3 because the tunnel was blocked by a train ahead of us. Then he mentioned that there had been “an explosion at the World Trade Center.”

Now, I grew up in the suburbs, so maybe I’m not as street smart as I should be, but after living in the city a few years, you develop a sense of the signs of trouble (like the time there were shots fired in the next subway car from mine). I didn’t know what the explosion was, maybe a gas leak or something, but I knew that I was better off getting above ground to see what was going on rather than enter the complex underground. So I got off the train to walk to work.

Disturbing Stories of the Day: Terrorists’ Easy Pass to NYC; Amtrak Employees Putting Passengers in Danger?

Could the keys to New York City fall into the hands of potential terrorists? That’s the question being asked after a New Jersey locksmith reportedly sold a fireman’s key ring to an undercover reporter from the New York Post. They keys supposedly can control elevators, knock out power to skyscrapers, open subway gates and even give access to One World Trade Center. The 69-year-old man, Daniel Ferraris, sold the keys for $150 dollars and claims he has more keys that he is trying to sell.

In another disconcerting story, Amtrak employees are failing drug tests at an alarming rate. An internal audit found drug and alcohol use among workers is 51 percent higher than the industry average. The majority of employees who tested positive had cocaine and marijuana in their systems. Mechanic and signal operators were the worst offenders. The rail company is promising to increase drug screening this year.

Obama now Openly Destroying the USA and he’s rising in the polls?

Barrack Hussein Obama and his syndicate have been caught in yet another huge lie that is designed to destroy what’s left of our country. The Obama Tyranny Project is now—finally—saying that the Libyan/Egyptian/Tunisian and dozens more Islamist-run countries’ rioting and wanton murdering hordes actions were not due to any obscure anti-Islam film.

They are, however, refusing to admit the truth…that all of the Muslim Mayhem is due to Obama’s Middle East appeasement policies. We show weakness…we get hit. Simple stuff for the even the moderately aware. We know that tortured and murdered US Ambassador Chris Stevens knew he had been placed on a hit-list and still he did not have an assigned security detail. That’s Obama’s fault.

So, now, the Obama syndicate is considering releasing the “Blind Sheik” (who engineered the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993) from US custody in order to appease his real friends and colleagues (the ones he has appointed to top security positions in the USA)—the Muslim Brotherhood—who is instigating the new Middle Eastern violence and barbarism.

Note: For those who still don’t know, Al-Qaeda, Hamas and multiple other terrorist organizations are the offspring of Obama’s pals the Muslim Brotherhood.

By the way, did you know that the Obama syndicate’s EPA is planning to issue ration cards with a four-gallon limit mandate…thus, effectively, immobilizing a great deal of the population? Stalinist tactics. As is a smaller one, a less mobile population is easier to control. And, recently, videos have been unearthed (from 1995 and 1998) in which Obama states he wants to redistribute OUR country’s wealth (take from the producers [you and me]), give it to the non-productive and transfer much of it to poorer and less-to-non-productive countries overseas. Obama also discusses his belief in establishing a [Communist] “collective.” In other words, we work for it and the non-working ObamaBuds are allowed to take it from us. That’s how totalitarians justify stealing everything from countries and totally decimating them. They begin by lying that “it’s for the poor” or “it’s for the children” and then they end up keeping the lion’s share for themselves.

Father's Note Changes Family's 9/11 Account

The note is just five words and two numbers.

Randy Scott scrawled these five words and two numbers on a piece of paper on Sept. 11, 2001, while at work at Euro Brokers Inc. in the World Trade Center.

But if a picture is worth a thousand words, these five words and two numbers have changed the picture completely for Scott's family. Family members refer to it simply as "the note." The note that floated from the 84th floor of Two World Trade Center to chaotic streets below, and was tenderly preserved as it traveled from hand to hand and through time to reach them.
