Kibbe: Why are White House, Homeland Security, IRS, others scoping site FreedomWorks.org?

Forty years after Watergate, a scandal about a president’s men breaking into and bugging opposition, often under the cover of a national security imperative, Americans in opposition to the country’s current trend lines are still subject to political surveillance.

The latest example of President Barack Obama’s administration stop-and-frisk attitude is aimed towards the Internet.

The organization that is the national support and logistics hub for the Tea Party announced Oct. 30 that its website has been repeatedly cased by several federal agencies, including the executive office of the White House, the Department of Homeland Security and the Internal Revenue Service.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe said, “After the flurry of scandals and abuses coming out of the intelligence collection agencies of the federal government this year, it’s curious that the DHS would frequent the FreedomWorks website.”

The website visits by government agencies were discovered during a routine internal audit of FreedomWorks.org over the last two years. The federal bureaucrats and agents spent most of their time reading blog entries and staff biographies.

Obamacare: Not Enough Young, Healthy Enrollees to Offset Costs

Image: Obamacare: Not Enough Young, Healthy Enrollees to Offset Costs Younger, healthier Americans needed to make Obamacare financially viable are not signing up in sufficient numbers. Most enrollees have been people over 50, many with pre-existing medical conditions.

The skew toward the older crowd raises concerns that there will not be enough payments from young people to offset the cost of providing coverage for the older ailing population, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The early numbers, while statistically too small to draw conclusions, raise concerns about the practicality of the insurance marketplaces.

"We need a broad range of people to make this work, and we're not seeing that right now," Heather Thiltgen of Medical Mutual, one of Ohio largest insurers told the Journal. "We're seeing the population skewing older."

The target enrollee is someone around 40 years if age.

If the drift continues, a more expensive cohort of customers, older and less healthy, would drive up costs for everyone. The federal government had committed to reimburse insurers if they underestimated costs.

This may still not be enough to keep the system afloat should the overall customer pool be appreciably older than forecast.

Widespread problems with the healthcare.gov system serving the 36 states that are not operating their own marketplaces have dissuaded younger, healthier applicants from enrolling. Those who cannot chance being without coverage have persevered.

Testifying before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Tuesday, Medicare chief Marilyn Tavenner said the administration is seeking to remedy the problems with youth enrollment as soon as the website is fully operational.

“Based on our analysis we will have it fully functioning by the end of November,” Tavenner told the committee.

ObamaCare price hikes hit 'red states' hardest

Experiencing sticker-shock at the price of insurance on ObamaCare exchanges?
That's more likely if you live in a "red state" that didn't vote for Obama, according to price data compiled by the Heritage Foundation. In red states, premiums for 27-year-olds rose an average of 78% on ObamaCare exchanges, whereas in "blue states" that voted for Obama, premiums rose a smaller 50%.
Senate critics of ObamaCare say the difference is one way in which the bill is unfair.
"It’s unfair, outrageous and unacceptable," Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyo., who is also an orthopedic surgeon, said in a statement to FoxNews.com.
“After discovering that the President broke his promise that Americans can definitely keep their coverage, many red state Americans are now finding out that their rates will soar under ObamaCare. This... proves once again that the President’s health care law picks winners and losers across the country," he added.
Health policy experts say the reason red states got hit hardest is that they had fewer regulations to begin with.
"Think about it this way, what does ObamaCare do? ObamaCare imposes a one-size-fits-all regulatory scheme upon the insurance market. So if you're in a lightly regulated state today, all of a sudden it's going from a lightly regulated system to a heavily regulated system, and that drives up a lot of the costs," Avik Roy, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who specializes in health policy, told FoxNews.com.

Obama Bundler Funding VA State Dems, Libertarian Gov. Candidate

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Robert SarvisA donor to the Democratic Party of Virginia and bundler for Barack Obama funded a political action committee that provided Virginia Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Robert Sarvis with a crucial campaign contribution that helped get him on the ballot.
Campaign records show that Sarvis’ largest contributor is Libertarian Booster PAC which provided $11,454 to the campaign to assist with signature collection and campaign materials. Billionaire Joe Liemandt provided Libertarian Booster PAC with $150,000 this year, making him their biggest donor.
Liemandt and his wife also contributed $4,090 to the Democratic Party of Virginia in2012. They have contributed at least $175,200 to the Democratic National Committee since 2010, according to CQ Moneyline.
The Blaze reports that the Liemandt family is also very close with Obama and was invited to an exclusive state dinner last year, attended by his largest donors.
In March 2012, ABC News reported Liemandt was among three dozen of the Obama campaign’s largest bundlers invited to a state dinner honoring British Prime Minister David Cameron. ABC News reported the invited bundlers, who also included Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, were responsible for at least $10.7 million of the $250 million the campaign had collected to that point.
Sarvis has been a force in the race since establishing himself as its third candidate, with recent polls showing him receiving up to 13 percent of the state’s vote.

NYT: Obama Exempts ObamaCare from Fraud Prosecutions

WASHINGTON — The Affordable Care Act is the biggest new health care program in decades, but the Obama administration has ruled that neither the federal insurance exchange nor the federal subsidies paid to insurance companies on behalf of low-income people are “federal health care programs.”

The surprise decision, disclosed last week, exempts subsidized health insurance from a law that bans rebates, kickbacks, bribes and certain other financial arrangements in federal health programs, stripping law enforcement of a powerful tool used to fight fraud in other health care programs, like Medicare.

The main purpose of the anti-kickback law, as described by federal courts in scores of Medicare cases, is to protect patients and taxpayers against the undue influence of money on medical decisions.

Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, disclosed her interpretation of the law in a letter to Representative Jim McDermott, Democrat of Washington, who had asked her views. She did not explain the legal rationale for her decision, which followed a spirited debate within the administration.

How Richie Incognito became NFL’s No. 1 villain

How Richie Incognito became NFL’s No. 1 villainEven before the ugly allegations emerged of Richie Incognito bullying teammate Jonathan Martin, the Dolphins offensive lineman was far from, er, incognito.
The nine-year pro — born in Englewood, N.J., and raised in Glendale, Ariz. — had developed a nasty reputation as a dirty player prone to fits of violence on and off the field.
Here’s a look at Incognito’s lowlights through the years, from college at Nebraska through a journeyman career in the pros to his current banishment from the NFL ranks:

College

Fall 2002: Ejected from Nebraska’s game against Penn State for fighting. Was suspended for the first half of a game against Iowa State the following week.
Spring 2003: Suspended by former Nebraska coach Frank Solich for unspecified reasons.
Feb. 2004: Charged with three counts of assault stemming from a fight at a party. Found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge after a three-day trial and paid a $500 fine.
Sept. 2004: Suspended from Nebraska. Withdrew from university two weeks later. Two weeks after leaving Nebraska, enrolled at Oregon.
Oct. 2004: Kicked off Oregon team. Coach Mike Bellotti said he failed to meet certain conditions.

A Post-Obama World

Some time back I caught sight of a photo of our "Philosopher-King-in-Training" holding in his effeminate hand a copy of Fareed Zakaria's The Post-American World, and took no little satisfaction in articulating to others that the title was more wishful thinking than scholarship. It should be no surprise that this administration has been united in its vision of a multi-polar world; and as such, has utilized its considerable influence in a singular effort to reduce America's gravitas through diminishing its footprint as a superpower on the stage of evolving political events.
Obama and the Progressives would never quite deny such a charge outright, even though the articulation of this Globalist ideology is incongruent with his position as America's highest officer -- a man sworn to honor our nation's prestige and interests. Nevertheless, during the 2012 presidential campaign, Zakaria himself sang the praises of "The Man Who Would Be Destiny:"
This is a new world, very different from the America-centric one we got used to over the last generation. Obama has succeeded in preserving and even enhancing U.S. influence in this world precisely because he has recognized these new forces at work. He has traveled to the emerging nations and spoken admiringly of their rise. He replaced the old Western club and made the Group of 20 the central decision-making forum for global economic affairs. By emphasizing multilateral organizations, alliance structures and international legitimacy, he got results.... It was Chinese and Russian cooperation that produced tougher sanctions against Iran.

**VA LIVE UPDATES** TEA PARTY: GOING TO BE 'VERY CLOSE'

Early reports from voters at two polling places in Virginia's gubernatorial election, one in Richmond and one in Lynchburg, indicate that as of 9:30 am eastern standard time, turnout has been just "a trickle."

A third report, from Rustburg in rural Campbell County, a conservative stronghold, indicates turnout is good there. At that location, Cuccinelli signs are highly visible and McAuliffe signs are not present.

Issues Split CA GOP Delegation in Congress

Typically, congressional delegations can be divided into two camps, Republicans and Democrats. Some smaller states — such as Massachusetts or Rhode Island — are only represented by one party. But more populous states like Texas and Illinois typically bring both Republicans and Democrats to the House, even if the state as a whole is decidedly blue or red. The California House delegation, for example, is composed of 38 Democrats and 15 Republicans.
Partisan congressional delegations typically stick together, as they share not only a party and general political ideology, but the interests of the state they represent. But as the chasm between moderates and conservatives grows, California’s Republican delegation is slowly becoming more of two delegations.
Consider how different California Republicans handled (and are handling) two of the most politically charged issues in our country today.
First, consider the government shutdown. All of California’s Republicans voted to defund, and then to delay, Obamacare — prompting the shutdown to occur. But as the days went on, and it became clear that Republicans were taking a political hit for closing the government over Obamacare, some Republicans began to openly criticize their party.
Rep.  Devin Nunes of Tulare, a moderate, compared his fellow Republicans to terrorists, calling them “lemmings with suicide vests”:
“They have to be more than just a lemming. Because jumping to your death is not enough. …
“You have this group saying somehow if you’re not with them, you’re with Obamcare. If you’re not with their plan — exactly what they want to do, you’re with Obamcare. It’s getting a little old.”
The real test came on Oct. 16, when the House voted on a clean continuing resolution, which reopened the government without any changes to Obamacare. The delegation split almost perfectly in half.
Eight Republicans voted in favor of reopening the government, Reps: Ken Calvert, Paul Cook, Darrell Issa, Kevin McCarthy, Buck McKeon, Gary Miller, David Valadao and—not surprisingly—Devin Nunes.
Seven Republicans voted against reopening the government, Reps: John Campbell, Jeff Denham, Duncan Hunter, Doug LaMalfa, Tom McClintock, Dana Rohrabacher and Ed Royce.

$1.1T: CMS Sets Record for Annual Spending by a Federal Agency

Marilyn Tavenner(CNSNews.com) - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs the federal government’s major health-care programs as well as the Obamacare insurance exchange, spent $1,113,178,000,000 in fiscal 2013, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement for September, which was released last week.
That sets a record for the most money ever spent by a federal agency or department in a single year.
It also means CMS spent more in inflation-adjusted dollars than the entire federal government spent in 1965, when President Lyndon Johnson signed the legislation creating the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
In 1965, the entire federal government spent $118,228,000,000 in 1965 dollars, according to the Office of Management and Budget. That converts to $878,824,380,000 in 2013 dollars, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator.
In 2010, CMS became the first federal agency to spend more than a trillion dollars, when it spent $1,035,783,000,000. In 2011, CMS spent $1,095,406,000,000; in 2012, it spent $1,052,799,000,000; and, in 2013, it spent a record $1,113,178,000,000.

Tucker Carlson: Jay Carney attack on Jon Karl ‘shows you the depths to which they have sunk’

Tucker CarlsonOn Monday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Daily Caller editor in chief Tucker Carlson explained how White House press secretary Jay Carney’s mocking of ABC News White House correspondent Jon Karl’s line of questioning was indicative of the Obama administration’s desperation amid the lackluster rollout of Obamacare.
“It’s a Potemkin application process,” said Carlson, who is also the co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend.” “The operator is there to make you feel good, but it doesn’t expedite your application at all. It goes to the same place the rest of them go, which is into the ether. To watch Jay Carney attack Jon Karl of all people, who is really a good reporter and fair and smart person, really shows you the depths to which they have sunk. It’s just appalling — like it’s Jon Karl’s fault for asking a totally straightforward and honest question. Carney, 20 years as a reporter, part of him has got to know this is not an adequate response to a straightforward question, but I don’t think they have another answer. So, it’s just another sign of their desperation, I would say.”

Final sprint in Election 2013

From left, Bill de Blasio, Joe Lhota, Terry McAuliffe, Ken Cuccinelli, Chris Christie and Barbara Buono are pictured. | AP PhotosCandidates for Virginia and New Jersey governor and New York City mayor on Monday sprinted toward the finish line of Election 2013,

trotting out the big names to keep their voters from getting complacent in a trio of races with clear — if not prohibitive — frontrunners.
In Virginia, home to this year’s marquee gubernatorial race, Vice President Joe Biden warned Democratic voters that the only way Republican Ken Cuccinelli could beat Democrat Terry McAuliffe is if they don’t bother to show up at the polls on Tuesday. Stumping for Cuccinelli a few hours later, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) portrayed the election as a referendum on the troubled Democratic health care law.

Whatever dim hope Cuccinelli has of an upset rests on abysmal turnout among Democrats. For months polls have shown McAuliffe, a longtime Democratic Party fixer and businessman, leading Cuccinelli in the high single digits. So McAuliffe has had a series of high-profile surrogates vouch for him the past few weeks – President Barack Obama on Sunday, Bill and Hillary Clinton before that – to remind party that they need to finish the job.

In New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie represents a starkly different face of the GOP. The Republican looked to be on the verge of a resounding victory in his reelection bid against Democratic opponent Barbara Buono, poised to win over independents and some Democrats in the deep-blue state.

Obama: 'What We Said Was You Can Keep It If It Hasn't Changed Since The Law Passed'

It might not seem possible that President Obama could do more harm to his credibility and the public's faith in government than misleading Americans about health insurance reform. But he can. The president is now misleading the public about his deception.
In a speech last night to his political team, Obama said: "Now, if you have or had one of these plans before the Affordable Care Act came into law and you really liked that plan, what we said was you can keep it if it hasn't changed since the law passed."
No, no, no, no, no -- that's not what the Obama administration said. What they said was:
"That means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health-care plan, you'll be able to keep your health-care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what." – President Obama, speech to the American Medical Association, June 15, 2009, during the debate over health insurance reform.
"And if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it.  No one will be able to take that away from you.  It hasn't happened yet.  It won't happen in the future." – Obama, remarks in Portland, April 1, 2010, after the bill was signed into law.
These quotes are courtesy of Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler, who gave Obama four Pinocchiosfor the you-can-keep-it whopper, repeated countless times by Obama. "The president's statements were sweeping and unequivocal — and made both before and after the bill became law," Kessler wrote. "The White House now cites technicalities to avoid admitting that he went too far in his repeated pledge, which, after all, is one of the most famous statements of his presidency."
What Obama told supporters Monday is what he should have told the public all along. "So we wrote into the Affordable Care Act, you're grandfathered in on that plan. But if the insurance company changes it, then what we're saying is they've got to change it to a higher standard. They've got to make it better, they've got to improve the quality of the plan they are selling," Obama said at an Organizing for Action event. "That's part of the promise that we made too. That's why we went out of our way to make sure that the law allowed for grandfathering."
