POLL: MAJORITY OF AMERICANS OPPOSE OBAMA’S TRADE AGREEMENT, HURTS AMERICAN WORKERS

A recent NBC News online survey shows a majority of Americans think President Obama’s trade agreement would harm American workers and companies.

“Two-thirds of Americans say protecting American industries and jobs by limiting imports is more important than allowing free trade so they can buy products at lower prices from any country,” reported NBC.
The survey found that this viewpoint was shared across political parties — with Republicans, Democrats and Independents all saying limiting inexpensive goods in order to protect U.S. jobs is more important than being able to purchase low-cost products.
Roughly four out of 10 people with college degrees believe “free trade is more important than limiting imports.”
Only one out of every four people with some college education, “and a third of those with high school degrees or less favor free trade over protecting American industries and jobs.”
The survey was conducted nationally using SurveyMonkey. It sampled 2,153 adults over the age of 18. There is a plus or minus 3 percent rate of error. The poll was held June 3rd through 5th.

Fox News poll: 68 percent concerned about their health care under new law

Dana BlantonNearly 7 out of 10 voters are concerned about their personal health care under the Affordable Care Act and a majority wants to take the health care system back to 2009, according to the latest Fox News national poll.

The poll, released Tuesday, finds that 68 percent of voters are concerned about their health care under the new system.  That includes 43 percent “very” concerned and another 25 percent “somewhat” concerned.

The number feeling concerned is more than twice that of those who are unworried (31 percent).

Even a 56-percent majority of Democrats feels concerned (31 percent “very” concerned).  By comparison, 72 percent of independents and 77 percent of Republicans feel that way.

There’s no gender gap, as about two-thirds of men (65 percent) and women (70 percent) alike are concerned.
Least concerned is the under-30 crowd.  Even so, 60 percent of that group feels worried.

Voters between 55-64 years old are the age group most likely to feel concerned about their health care under the new law:  77 percent are worried.

The poll also finds a 54-percent majority wants to go back to the health care system that was in place in 2009.  About a third -- 35 percent -- thinks it would be better to leave the new law in place.

D+8 VA POLL: ROMNEY +21 AMONG INDEPENDENTS, OBAMA UP TWO OVERALL

A D+8 Quinnipiac/New York Times/CBS News Virginia poll found President Barack Obama with a two-point lead (49%-47%) in Virginia, even though challenger Mitt Romney holds a 21-point lead among independents.

The partisan breakdown of the poll was: 27% Republican, 35% Democrat, 35% Independent.
In 2008 in Virginia, Democrats had a six-point turnout advantage at the polls, and independents made up 27% of the electorate (Democrats made up 39% and Republicans 33%). Obama beat McCain by one point among independents in 2008 (49%-48%).
In the Q poll, independents make up 35% of the sample -- an eight-point increase from 2008 --  and Romney beats Obama by 21 points. Romney even leads Obama by seven points when voters were asked which candidate would work work better with "both Democrats and Republicans in Congress."
But the poll, which surveyed 1,074 Virginia likely voters between Oct. 25-28 and has a margin of error of +/-  three percent, has Obama leading by two points.

'THE HOPE AND THE CHANGE' MOVIE TO AIR ON BROADCAST, CABLE TV

"The Hope and the Change,” the movie about Democrats and independents who voted for President Barack Obama in 2008 and will not do so in 2012, will air on a dozen television stations this fall leading up to the presidential election, Citizens United announced on Monday.

Citizens United produced the film and has struck a deal to begin airing the movie on six broadcast stations and six cable stations beginning Tuesday on HDNet and through November’s presidential election. It will reach 130 million households and air on broadcast stations in Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Hawaii, and Colorado. The movie will air on cable channels such as FamilyNet, Rural TV, and HDNet movies.
Sean Hannity said “The Hope and the Change” was the “most powerful documentary” he had “ever seen,” and the movie could only be produced because of the Supreme Court decision that did not place limits on political speech.
“It is important to note that these distribution opportunities would have been against the law a mere three years ago. This is why I went to the United States Supreme Court – to fight for the right to produce a political documentary,” said Producer David N. Bossie. “’The Hope and The Change exposes the hard truth that many Democrats and independents are suffering at the hands of President Obama’s failed policies, and we will aggressively market this film so Americans can finally have an unfiltered conversation they deserve."
Stephen K. Bannon, who directed the film, said “the ability to reach 130 million American cumulative households with this historic deal is astonishing.”
“The power of the film comes from the collective unscripted and unrehearsed voices of the participants - ordinary Americans from every walk of life - who broke through the white noise of political speak,” Bannon said.
Pat Caddell, the former Jimmy Carter adviser who helped conduct the film’s focus groups of Reagan Democrats from swing states like Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Colorado, said “this documentary gives real voice to ordinary Americans, Democrats and independents, who are, until now, unheard and ignored by the political class and mainstream media.”
“The power of these 2008 Obama voters comes from the fact that they were unscripted and spoke from their hearts,” Caddell said.
