Some black lawmakers supporting disruptions at campaigns by BlackLivesMatter protesters

After Black Lives Matter protesters ended the rally of Bernie Sanders supporters last Saturday, most responsible Democrats criticized the activists for interferring in the democratic process.

But several black lawmakers are taking a different view and are supporting the disruptions.
The Hill:
The activists have employed the controversial tactic of interrupting stump speeches and other public forums, which has drawn ire from many Democrats as an uncivil and misguided effort that targets allies, rather than opponents, of such reforms. 
But a number of black Democrats disagree, arguing that race-based problems have been neglected for too long, even by liberal policymakers, and the activists have tapped into a vein of frustration that justifies their methods. 
“They really are speaking to the issues, and we're really long overdue responding to those issues,” Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said in a phone interview. “They've been pointed, nonviolent and strong, and I'm not offended. 
“They're asking for nothing more than to lift up a system to treat them with justice.”
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) echoed that message, alluding to recent high-profile cases of young unarmed blacks killed by police officers as proof that America's racial problems persist and demand a specific response from the presidential candidates — liberal and conservative alike. The public debate that’s followed the recent protests, he suggested, merits their controversial tactics\ 
“For Black Lives Matter activists, the issue is literally a matter of life and death as evidenced by the continued killing of unarmed Black men and women by police officers across the nation,” Johnson said in an email. “When presidential candidates fail to acknowledge how the current criminal system detrimentally impacts Black lives, they [the activists] resort to disruptive tactics to force attention to the issue. 
“While disruption is uncomfortable, it does result in candidates acknowledging and addressing the issue with policy proposals,” he added. “When that happens, the need to protest is abated.”
In other words, threats and intimidation are just fine because they force candidates to change their agendas.  Is this really how we want to conduct a campaign for the next president of the United States?

This is an extremely dangerous position.  Supporting the veiled threat of violence from the protesters empowers the mob and encourages them to up the pressure on candidates.  Disrupting rallies and preventing candidates from speaking is anti-democratic and shows the activists to be little better than angry thugs.

House Dems display incorrect Confederate flag

And someone had the stupidity to vote for these idiots time after time after time.
House Democrats referenced the wrong Confederate flag Thursday during a debate over the controversial symbol.
A photo from floor debates shows a Confederate flag with 17 stars, according to a post on CSPAN’s Instagram account.
The actual Confederate battle flag had 13 stars, one for each of the states that seceded from the Union before joining the Confederacy as of late 1861.
CSPAN’s photo shows a number of House Democrats speaking by a cutout of the incorrect version on Thursday morning.
Reps. James Clyburn (S.C.), Al Green (Texas), Keith Ellison (Minn.), David Cicilline (R.I.), Eric Swalwell (Calif.), Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas) and Terri Sewell (Ala.) all missed the apparent mistake.
House GOP leaders abruptly canceled a vote Thursday on a spending bill for the Interior Department amid intraparty infighting over displays of the Confederate flag.
The proposed legislation was shelved after the House moved to vote on an amendment to a measure that would continue allowing the display of the controversial symbol in certain federal cemeteries.

Democratic Sheila Jackson Lee: ‘Let’s write up these executive orders’

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, denies discriminating against and mocking a staffer with a vision disability, but a judge says the federal lawsuit by the now-former staffer can go forward. (Associated Press)Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a member of the new “Full Employment Caucus” formed on Capitol Hill, described the group’s top priority this way: To get President Obama as many tailored-made executive orders for speedy signing as possible.

She said at a recent press conference reported by The Daily Mail that the caucus members will work hard to “give President Obama a number of executive orders that he can sign with pride and strength. In fact, I think that should be our number one agenda. Let’s write up these executive orders – draft them, of course – and ask the president to stand with us on full employment.”

Mr. Obama, meanwhile, has taken to executive orders to push through his policies and agendas, famously claiming in widely published reports that “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone. And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward,” during Jan. 14 remarks.
The other members of the new caucus: Reps. John Conyers, Maxine Waters, Charles Rangel, Frederica Wilson, Barbara Lee, Jose Serrano and Mike Quigley.

It’s not clear that the caucus’ number one goal will succeed.

House Speaker John Boehner issued scathing criticisms about Mr. Obama’s push for executive powers during a recent Capitol Hill press conference. The Daily Mail reported Mr. Boehner said: “We’re going to watch very closely because there’s a Constitution that we all take an oath to, including [Obama], and following that Constitution is the basis for our republic and we shouldn’t put that in jeopardy.”

Sheila Jackson Lee: Insurance Companies Should Not Have Sent Out Cancellation Letters, They Should Have Sent Letters Telling Them Their Insurance Was Getting Better…



"Is she still living in a Fantasy World?"

Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, a Texas Democrat, told National Review Online today that instead of sending out cancellation letters, insurance companies should have told their customers that their coverage was about to get better.

She said she wrote an amendment before the president’s announcement that would require insurance companies to “tell the truth.”

“The cancellation notice was not the truth,” she says. “It should have been: ’We intend to or expect to modify your insurance.’”

She adds that cancellation is what happens “when you don’t pay your premium, or something has happened in the bad old days,” but that’s not what’s happening here.

“A cancellation notice was the inappropriate document to send without notice,” she continues. “All they had to do is that, ‘This is a notice to say that we’re going to improve your insurance, not, in essence, eliminate your insurance.’”

Systemic Medicare Fraud Under Houston's Sheila Jackson Lee


Will Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee have to distance herself from Houston's Riverside General Hospital now that top administrators have been caught in a major Medicare fraud scam?
Last week's roundup makes me wonder why the Obama administration is cracking down on Medicare/Medicaid fraud in the first place.  Aren't they the ones shelling out hundreds of millions to their Solyndra-like cronies with no consequences?
Is it to make them look tough on crime, or is it to make sure the recovered monies are going into their own wallets at the end of the day?
Since her days on the Houston City Council, Jackson Lee has pushed to use city funds to keep Riverside's doors open.  At that time, the councilwoman suggested that the facility was a good investment for the city. 
Jackson Lee's interest in Riverside goes back to the '80s when her husband Elwyn C. Lee, now University of Houston vice-chancellor (see video), served on Riverside's board from 1981-1988.  In his last year at Riverside, Mr. Lee was made chairman of that board, and over the years, husband and wife have been influential in keeping the financially strapped hospital open.  Jackson Lee was voted into Congress in 1994, representing the 18th district, where Riverside is located.
The president of Riverside, his son, and five others were arrested on October 4 as part of a nationwide Medicare fraud sweep.  Earnest Gibson III, chief executive officer of Riverside General Hospital for 30 years, has been charged with bilking $158 million out of Medicare over the last seven years.
His son, Earnest Gibson IV, was charged with thirteen counts, including money-laundering and conspiracy to commit health care fraud.  The older Gibson became president around the same time Jackson Lee's husband was appointed to the board in the early '80s.

Dem Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Says She Would Break The Law To Vote Against GOP Bill To Stop Obama From Gutting Welfare Work Requirements…


On Thursday, Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee was so worked up about Republican legislation to stop the Obama administration’s welfare work requirement waivers that she exited an anti-bullying event early, joking that she would be breaking traffic laws to cast her vote in opposition.
“Please forgive me if I run out for a vote and a debate. I am going to run back. We’ll probably break all traffic rules, but I want you to be engaged. And I don’t want anybody hear about what traffic rule I’ve broken, but I want all of you to be engaged,” she urged the gathering of anti-bullying advocates and school children.
Lee left quickly in the middle of the event she headlined — “Bullying – Sticks & Stones: Changing the Face of the 21st Century” — to oppose to the Republican measure.
“My friends are now on the Hill. I’m going to have to run back, because the waiver that was given to give people flexibility on TANF [Temporary Assistance for Needy Families ] is now — that’s what we call giving flexibility in the national, making a statement of cooperation and working with government, state governments, meaning flexibility in the welfare concept, which I am so glad [the Obama administration] did,” she told the gathering. “So now my friends on the other side of the aisle, representing the 53 versus 47 percent — a little humor here, I’m going to get to the point, but in any event — they are trying to repeal the flexibility that our government so rightly so has given and sitting us in hearings saying that we over regulate.”
Despite a reputation for bullying her own staff, Lee has been championing anti-bullying legislation and pushing for more efforts to end bullying.
“Bullying prevention and intervention is not only about caring for our young people, it is about caring for our future, so bullying brings about bully-cide, suicide, cyber-bullying, and it does not end with our children on the playground,” she said. “It exists on college campuses, workplaces, online and even elderly care facilities.”
The Daily Caller revealed last year that in conjunction with her hot temper with staff, she has a reputation for ignoring traffic laws, with former drivers saying she would demand they run red lights and take highway shoulders to expedite travel times — something that has resulted in at least one accident.

’12 Million Illegals need documents so they can unionize’- Rep Sherman


As this week wore on, the news kept getting grimmer. So many topics, so little time, and how many care. But I shall buck up today. It is a beautiful day here at the Bunker. Crystal blue skies, a nip in the air.
As if our country cannot go down the tubes fast enough what with Bernanke insuring rampant inflation, and who knows what all, I bring this good news. As if our unemployment rate was not high enough, lets bring in more illegals and by the way, by all means have them unionize. What a strange world we are living in. Here we go:
California Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman said at a press conference on  immigration outside the Capitol Friday afternoon that America needs immigration  reform to help those here illegally while also allowing them unionize for better  wages.
“We need a regular process by which the 12 million people who are part of our  society can be fully part of our society, and they need documents,” the  congressman said. “It’s important for the labor market of this country because  as long as there are 12 million people without documents, there are 12 million  people who can’t stand up for their rights as workers, and that means there are  12 million people who can be used by unscrupulous employers to keep down wages  and to prevent unions from organizing.”
Sherman was joined at the press conference by Rep. Judy Chu, Rep. Sheila Jackson  Lee and Rep. Lloyd Doggett. Each member thanked President Obama for his  executive order to stop the deportation of certain illegal immigrants, but they  said it was only the first step in a process Congress needs to finish.

Sheila Jackson Lee - Your Time is up.


People have lost their fervor for this country because of people like Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).  She astounds us with her continuous chorus of racism but does nothing to stop it.  She and others in the democrat party are the reason this country is on a permanent downward trend.  Have they done anything positive in the past fifty years to help this country?  The answer is clearly no.  The vitriolic fanning of the flames has got to stop and stop now. The democrat party has nothing new to offer. Their only path to victory is to cast aspersions upon those among us that do care about this country. The leadership in this country has failed us.

Recently, Rep. Lee marked the 400th day of the GOP do nothing congress.  She said “Americans cannot afford another year of a Republican Congress that fails to focus on jobs, refuses to strengthen our middle class, and tries to end Medicare guarantee.” None of the accusations are true. The Republican controlled House has passed nearly 30 common sense jobs bills since regaining control of Congress in 2010. All of the bills are stalled in the Senate by Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV).  Rep. Lee only has to look to the democrats in the Senate to see where the problem lies, but she is blinded by her own agenda. Time and time again President Obama has proposed jobs bills that do nothing but increase the deficit and his past history in this area have been a total failure in terms of job creation.  

Recently it was reported that $60 million in earmarks went to college’s that employed relatives of lawmakers.  Included was $5.25 million that was directed to Rep. Lee’s husband while he was vice president of student affairs and vice chancellor at the University of Houston.  Even though she was just one of many, it highlights the improprieties that occur with regularity in Congress and must be stopped. In another questionable statement Rep. Lee admonished Pepsi for an ad that ran during the super bowl last year. At that time she said that the ad was “Insulting to woman of all colors”. 

We have a serious problem in this country.  In the past Rep. Lee has stooped to the level of nonsense that can only come from a democrat.  On February 10th Rep. Lee had the temerity to say “Republican’s want to take away the essence of all religious faith”, yet is it her hero President Obama who wants to scrap Article 1 of the Bill of Rights that says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”.

Is this the essence of the people that we want running our government?  The democrats have gone out of their way to accuse republicans of racism.  Martin Luther King said “I look for the day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but the content of their character”. When we decide who is most qualified we should look for those that have the ability to bring people together and not divide them. Race bating does not bring people together and does everything to divide us. We have to make sure they make the right choices for those of us that they represent.  We do not want those among us that are running for their own personal agenda. It is time to replace those that have taken us and government for granted and elect a new breed of politician to deliver this country back to where we once were.  The democrats have done nothing but take a dependent approach to the problems facing this country. It is time for wholesale change and no stone should be unturned to find and elect people that truly care about America.

These are a few of the quotes from this year however it would not be a complete list if it did not include an all-time favorite from March 2010 when Nancy Pelosi said,

“But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it away from the fog of the controversy” – When referring to ObamaCare and the passage of the bill. – March 2010

One can only wonder how some of these people keep on getting elected year after year.  If you thought that 2011 was a good year for quotes, one can only imagine what will come out their mouths in 2012.  Let us just wait and see.  May we all have a healthy and prosperous new year.
