ANOTHER UNEMPLOYMENT STATISTICAL LIE HITS JUNE 1, 2012

As one month ends and another begins one can only wonder what kind of magic the Obama Administration will cook up with the release of the May 2012 unemployment results. Any sane person will look at these numbers with disdain and anger while the left will do their best to spin the results as a positive look at how the economy is "IMPROVING".  Using the word improving with any connection to this administration is a tough undertaking but it must be said. They have lived in a fantasy world for the last 41 months and new data suggests that the remainder of this presidency (7 months) will be more of the same.

A closer analysis of April's job numbers is not very encouraging as there were 1,388 mass layoffs affecting 136,500 people.  The average new unemployment claims for the last four weeks is still hovering around 375,000 with no indication that this number will fall in the immediate future.

The labor participation rate is at a 10-year low of 63.6% (BLS May 2012). As more people drop off the unemployment roles and are unable to find work, this rate is sure to drop to new historic lows.  This does not look good for the current administration as they are spending more time talking about non-issues then they are in coming up with solutions that matter to most people being jobs, inflation, gas prices, and the uncontrolled debt that shows no sign of slowing down.

When is the bad news going to end for the millions of Americans who are either out of work or struggling with jobs that do not pay enough to take care of themselves or their families?  It is disturbing to know that the number of people receiving government benefits is at unprecedented levels and with the real unemployment rate over 20%, we are getting closer to the days of the great depression.  The numbers are worse for our returning veterans which is 9.1% and with those between the ages of 18 and 24, it is a disgraceful 20.2%. Women veterans unemployment rate is now 17.3%. This is not the message we want to send to our troops who have served this country with tireless devotion.

So as we await the new numbers which will be released on Friday June 1, 2012, hopefully we can see light at the end of the tunnel and that the nightmare will soon be over.
