Move over, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke. The Robertson family of “Duck Dynasty” fame have replaced twerking and those “Blurred Lines” with long beards and “Duck Blinds,” taking the stage with country artists Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley on Wednesday night’s Country Music Association Awards.
Jase Robertson, his wife Missy, Willie Robertson and his wife Korie of the A&E hit show joined CMA co-hosts Paisley and Underwood for their own rendition of Thicke’s hit song. The cast boogied their way on stage as Underwood and Paisley sang, and then presented the first award of the night.
“What a crazy time to be alive today. There’s two major phenomena going on in pop culture today. ‘Blurred Lines’ with Miley Cyrus tweaking right beside him,” Paisley told the audience.
“And a TV family that hasn’t shaved since the Reagan administration and makes duck calls,” Underwood continued.
The pair then launched into their more family-friendly version of the song, with the help of some surprise guests.
“I drive a truck,” Paisley sang as Underwood quack, quack, quacked in the background. “What rhymes with truck? I’ll tell you what rhymes with truck. … Duck.”
“You’re a country girl … I feel fantastic. They’s about to get blasted. These ducks are plastic. Duck blinds,” the pair crooned.
As the Robertson family danced their way to the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers. Country music’s Tim McGraw and Faith Hill boogied along with the music, showing their love for the group.
