3 DAYS TO WIN BATTLEGROUNDS Candidates Bank on Voter Turn Out

romneyobamafinalweekend.jpgMitt Romney and President Obama blazed across the country Saturday, hitting key battleground states where both candidates vowed partisan compromise if elected and urged supporters to help them win over the remaining undecided voters.

The promises for compromise in Washington were an attempt to appeal to Independent voters who could swing the tight race now in its final three days.

“I need you to reach across the lawn to the neighbor with the other (campaign) sign,” Romney said at a rally in Colorado, his third of four Saturday. “I’ve got to reach across the aisle. Walk with me. We can do this.”

Romney began the day with an outdoor rally in New Hampshire, then made a stop in Iowa before attending the rally in Colorado Spring. His finally rally of the day will be in Englewood, Colo.

President Obama made similar arguments during his stops -- Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, then Virginia in the evening.

The president told the crowd in Ohio: "I'll work with any party to make this country move forward. If you want to break the gridlock of Congress, vote for me."

He also took a jab at what he sees as the Romney plan for White House-Capitol Hill compromises -- agreements to cut  funding to Planned Parenthood, health care and student financial aid.

"I’m not going to have that," the president said inside a school gymnasium in Mentor, Ohio. "That's not bipartisanship. … Knock on some doors with me, make some calls for me."

In Wisconsin, the president delivered similar remarks but added some star power -- singer Katy Perry, who wore a shiny blue mini dress with the word “Forward” across the top and sang into a microphone that looked like the Statue of Liberty torch.

In Iowa, the president referred to the fatal, devastating superstorm Sandy to make his point about working together.
“We are in this together,” he said in Dubuque, Iowa. “We will rise and fall as one nation.”
The president began the day with an early-morning meeting at the Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters to discuss relief efforts for the Sandy victims.

Every Green Energy Failure Is News

USA Today (10/17/12) ran a story about a battery manufacturer filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. But the story might as well have been a press release from the Mitt Romney campaign.
"Another Blow for Green Energy" read the headline. Wendy Koch's piece led off with this:
An electric vehicle battery maker that was awarded $249 million in federal stimulus funds filed for Chapter 11 reorganization on Tuesday, giving GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney potential ammunition to attack President Obama's green-energy subsidies.
It's a short article, but it's hard to avoid the central theme: This is good news for the Romney campaign. Koch writes:
Its Chapter 11 filing will likely spur further GOP criticism, which escalated once solar panel manufacturer Solyndra filed for Chapter 11 protection in September 2011 after receiving more than $500 million in federal loan guarantees.
In the first presidential debate October 3, Romney called four aid recipients "losers," including Solyndra, Fisker, EV car maker Tesla Motors and auto battery manufacturer Ener1.
"You don't just pick the winners and losers, you pick the losers," Romney told Obama in a sharp exchange.
On Tuesday, Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul called A123's bankruptcy "yet another failure for the president's disastrous strategy of gambling away billions of taxpayer dollars on a strategy of government-led growth that simply does not work."
If it's important to note the campaign ramifications of this story, then perhaps readers should know that Romney claimed that about half of the companies receiving green energy loan guarantees have gone out of business. That is, as you might expect, completely false.

Poll: Romney Deadlocked with Obama ... in PENNSYLVANIA

Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney by a 2 point margin, identical to his lead in late September according to Susquehanna Polling and Research. But the Republican’s debate performance contributed to a 6 point jump in his favorability rating.
In a poll conducted just after the first presidential debate, from Oct. 4 to 6, 47 percent of respondents said they support Obama; 45 percent support Romney. 3 percent support Libertarian Gary Johnson.
The Obama-Romney head-to-head numbers are identical the most recent Susquehanna Polling and Research survey released on Sept. 23. The margin of that poll, commissioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review closely resemble that of another SP&R survey conducted for the Pa. Republican party which showed Obama at a 48 percent to 47 advantage.
When the undecided voters leaning towards a candidate are factored in (breaking 3:1 for Romney), the race narrows to a 1-point Obama lead, 47 percent to 46.
Obama is viewed net favorably, 50 percent to 47 percent.

It Was Never About Obama in the First Place—Why Barack is Merely Puppet o’ Hope

If the first debate between Barack and Mitt proved anything, besides this emperor having no clothes, it’s that the point of electing Obama was never about his “genius.” It was simply a convenient leftist power grab, obscured by a ridiculous cartoon of leadership. As has been richly illustrated, despite all his intellectual bluster—Barack is no Einstein. After exposure as a cocky, know-nothing parrot of others’ words, it became startlingly obvious Barack has a very limited pool of knowledge. Like a blind man searching for his cane all evening, was Barack Obama “debating.”

Now certainly those working with Obama the past 5-10 years knew of his inherent limitations, that he was essentially an unthinking figure head for their movement. Further, they wagered with his grandiose self-image, belief in his own inevitable rise, preposterously condescending manner, and photogenic style, he’d be a perfect Trojan-horse to ride to victory. But finally, Obama was revealed as a charlatan as silly as any from a rock-n-roll opera:

Ever since I was a young boy I played the silver ball
From Soho down to Brighton I must have played them all
But I ain’t seen nothing like him in any amusement hall
That deaf, dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball
So what has actually happened the last four years in the White House? Obviously, an elaborate fraud has been foisted upon a credulous, tired and intellectually inert American public. But why? Because liberalism is a movement so inherently illogical, unstable and anti-intuitive it needs leaders who are either dense blowhards, moral misfits, or literally insane to head the cause (see Sources of Madness—The Insane Thinkers of the Modern Age). Alarmingly, modern liberalism (socialism, Marxism, Fascism, etc) is a political religion intent upon converting the world, even by sword, if necessary. So the real star of Obama’s administration is this quasi-religious, atheistic world movement which finds a surprising ideological partner in classic Islam. This menacing, anti-liberty movement will not rest until it has enslaved the globe.
