Assad: Syria to fulfil chemical weapons initiative if U.S. ends threats - agency

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Syria will fulfil an initiative to hand over its chemical weapons only when the United States stops threatening to strike Syria, RIA news agency quoted President Bashar al-Assad as saying in a television interview.
Assad also said that Damascus will begin handing over information on its chemical weapons stockpiles one month after it joins a anti-chemical weapons convention.
"When we see the United States really wants stability in our region and stops threatening, striving to attack, and also ceases arms deliveries to terrorists, then we will believe that the necessary processes can be finalized," he was quoted as saying in an interview with Russian state television.

Laura Ingraham: Obama’s ‘Community Organizer’ Foreign Policy ‘Looks Ridiculous’

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham expressed skepticism about the so-called Russian solution to the crisis in Syria. She said that she was not certain that the offer to monitor the surrendering of Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons into international custody will resolve the crisis. Furthermore, Ingraham said, President Barack Obama, given his background as a “community organizer,” appears incapable of managing America’s affairs abroad.
“The bottom line is the president has an escape hatch, right?” Gretchen Carlson asked.
“We’ll see,” Ingraham replied. She said that Sec. John Kerry “stumbled” into allowing the Russians to embarrass Washington and boost their own stature by making it appear as though Kerry’s off-the-cuff hypothetical was a real policy proposal that Moscow could facilitate.
Brian Kilmeade noted that even the State Department attempted to walk back Kerry’s accidental policy proposal before it was embraced as a path to peace by the White House.
“This is an example of what happens when a community organizer, who is used to doing the razzle-dazzle with Oprah and all of his celebrities, thinks by just through the sheer force of personality and magnetism he can somehow change the chess pieces on the board,” Ingraham later said.
“When you’re dealing with someone like Russia — it’s a great world power, even with all of the struggles — or China, this is not something that you can just stumble into,” she insisted. “This is something that has to be incredibly well thought out and from the beginning. It was not.”
Ingraham insisted that she did not think the Russian solution would save Obama from a political defeat, and that he “looks ridiculous” pursuing it.

Syrian official says Assad accepts proposal to turn over chemical weapons

Syria's foreign minister said Tuesday President Bashar Assad has accepted a Russian proposal to turn over control of Syria's chemical weapons, potentially opening the door to defusing a stand-off with the United States as President Obama indicates he's willing to give the "diplomatic track" a try.

According to the Associated Press, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Tuesday after meeting with the Russian Parliament speaker that his government's officials quickly agreed to the Russian initiative to "derail the U.S. aggression."

The developments could dramatically alter the nature of the national address Obama plans to give on Tuesday night. He had been planning to make the case for a military strike, but in the last 24 hours has eased off that call amid budding international negotiations.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also postponed a test vote originally teed up for Wednesday on whether to authorize the use of force. Reid cited "international discussions" in his decision.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia is now working with Syria to prepare a detailed plan of action, which will be presented shortly.

Obama congratulates American Muslims on same day he moves for military action against Syria

Obama-arranged marriage of Marxism and Muslim is leading the world down a deadly path of increasing civilian death

On the same day that President Barack Obama said that the United States should take military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons on civilians and turned to Congress for approval, he released a video message from the White House congratulating American Muslims on the many achievements and contributions they have made to American society from its early history to the present day.

Was it just before the video release that he took the touted 45-minute walk during which he made up his mind to strike Syria?

The congratulating American Muslims video, aired Saturday at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) annual convention, highlighting “the myriad of ways the American Muslim community, and specifically ISNA leadership, has served as an effective partner in promoting inter-religious initiatives in the U.S. and religious freedom for minorities around the world.” (PRNewswire-USNewswire, Aug. 31, 2013).

That is, of course, unless you happen to be a Christian in Syria, Egypt, Nigeria, Sudan, Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Somalia, Tanzania, Libya, Cameroon, the Netherlands, Kenya, Turkey, Algeria, Norway, Lebanon, Indonesia, the Philippines, Kosovo, South Africa, and even in the U.S., where on March 24, 2013, in Ashtabula, Ohio, a Muslim convert walked into a church service with a Koran and gunned down his Christian father while praising Allah.
