Bribery, awarding special favors to campaign donors, violating gift rules, soliciting illegal campaign contributions, using campaign cash for personal gain, and having sex with patients.
Those are some of the allegations against lawmakers in a new Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington report on the “most corrupt members of Congress.”
Many of the lawmakers on the list will sound familiar since they’ve been under the watchdog group’s microscope for years. Reps. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.), Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), Hal Rogers (R-Ky.), Don Young (R-Alaska) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), for instance, have appeared on the list for at least three years in a row.
While some have been cleared by congressional ethics investigators, others on the list are still battling investigations — and some aren’t even being probed.
