37 Straight Gallup Polls—Majority: Abortion Should Be Illegal in All or Most Cases

In 37 straight surveys conducted over the course of 21 years by the Gallup polling company, a majority of Americans have said that abortion should be illegal in all circumstances or in all but a few circumstances.
In the most recent survey, conducted May 6-10, a combined 55 percent of respondents said abortion should be illegal in all circumstances or in all but a few circumstances.
Specifically, 29 percent said abortion should be legal “under any circumstances,” 13 percent said it should be legal “under most circumstances,” 36 percent said it should be "legal only in a few circumstances,” and 19 percent said it should be illegal “in all circumstances.” Two percent said they had no opinion.
The 36 percent who said it should be legal in “only a few circumstances” and the 19 percent who said it should be illegal “in all circumstances” equaled 55 percent of all those surveyed.
In a data sheet released with the May 6-10 survey, Gallup provided the results for this question in 37 surveys it has conducted dating back to September 1994. In every one of these surveys, the combined percentage of respondents who said abortion should be illegal “in all circumstances” or in all but “a few circumstances” exceeded 50 percent of those surveyed.
The lowest these combined answers have ever been was 51 percent—the level it was at in September 1994, the date of Gallup’s first data on the combined answers, and September 1995, the date of the third survey with data on the combined answers.

Plurality of Americans Identify as Pro-Choice for First Time in 7 Years

shutterstock_270054965According to a new Gallup poll, significantly more people identify themselves as “pro-choice” than “pro-life” for the first time in seven years.
In a recent telephone survey on abortion, Gallup discovered that 50% of respondents identified themselves as “pro-choice,” while 44% said they were “pro-life”. In addition, 54% of women agreed that abortion should be an available option, as well as 46% of men.
Gallup noted that while approval for pro-choice policies haven’t been as high as they were during the ’90s, it’s the highest it’s been in the past five years, thanks to “political and cultural events” that influence how Americans view abortion, such as Supreme Court cases, anti-abortion legislation, and violence against women or abortion clinics.
“While events like these may continue to cause public views on abortion to fluctuate, the broader liberal shift in Americans’ ideology of late could mean the recent pro-choice expansion has some staying power,” they observed.

Poll: One In Four Americans Satisfied With Direction Of The Country

Americans’ satisfaction with the direction of the U.S. has dropped 6 points since the beginning of the year, with government, the economy and unemployment cited as the top problems facing the nation.
Satisfaction with how things are going in the country hit a two-year high in January at 32 percent but has gradually dropped since then to 26 percent, Gallup said.
Fourteen percent of Americans rated dissatisfaction with government the most important problem facing the country today, followed by the economy in general at 12 percent and unemployment at 10 percent.
Race relations (8 percent); immigration (6 percent); a decline in moral, religious and family ethics (6 percent); health care (5 percent); and terrorism (5 percent) were also frequently cited problems facing the country.
“After years of dysfunctional government, the economy and unemployment dominating Americans’ mentions of the top problem facing the nation, fewer mention these problems now than in recent years,” Gallup’s Justin McCarthy wrote. “Still, these three problems remain at the forefront of Americans’ concerns and may be driving Americans’ high level of dissatisfaction with the nation’s direction.”
The survey of 1,024 adults was conducted May 6-10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Obama Warns Millennials of Bar-Related Injuries

Something is up!  The "young invincibles" who were largely responsible for catapulting Barack Obama into the seat of power appear to be spurning ObamaCare and its joke of a website.  A recent Harvard University Institute of Politics poll revealed that 50% of 18- to 29-year-olds disapprove of ObamaCare and believe that it will raise their health care costs
Compounding that problem is the fact that less than one third of uninsured young people say they plan to enroll in coverage, which means that those the president was depending upon to carry the weight of health care costs would rather spend the little money they have trying to get their Obama logo tattoo lasered off.
Good for them!  America's youth are smarter than Obama gives them credit for.  They've figured out that the guy who's ruined their chances for a lucrative career now wants them to shoulder the bulk of the costs for his health care bill with money that his economic policies have prevented them from earning.  Seems those between the ages of 18 and 29 are on to the president's Ponzi scheme, wherein the government wrangles the young into shifting their nonexistent resources to older, sicker Americans.
A recent Gallup survey found that more than one quarter of people without health insurance would rather pay the fine.

Gallup: Belief Obama's 'Honest and Trustworthy' Hits All-Time Low

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama(CNSNews.com) - The belief among the American people that President Barack Obama is "honest and trustworthy" has hit an all-time low, according to a Gallup poll released today.
Nonetheless, 50 percent of those surveyed by Gallup do believe the president of the United States is an honest and trustworthy man.
Forty-seven percent do not.
Also hitting or matching all-time lows, according to Gallup, are the beliefs that Obama has a clear plan for solving the countries problems, that he can manage the government effectively, that he understands the problems Americans face in their daily lives, and that he is a strong and decisive leader.
On seven occasions, starting when Obama was running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, Gallup has asked poll respondents: "Thinking about the following characteristics and qualities, please say whether you think each applies or doesn't apply to Barack Obama. How about is honest and trustworthy?"
The first time Gallup asked the question--from March 14-16, 2008--63 percent said "honest and trustworthy" are characteristics that apply to Obama and 29 percent said they did not.
In its most recent asking of  the question--in a survey conducted Nov. 7-10, 2013--50 percent said the terms "honest and trustworthy" applied to Obama and 47 percent said they did not.

Poll: Uninsured not using ObamaCare site - 18% to be exact

Fewer than a quarter of all uninsured Americans have so far even attempted to visit an exchange site, according to a new Gallup poll.
As the Obama administration struggle to fix problems with the federal health exchange website, the poll found just 18 percent of the exchanges' target audience – the nation's uninsured – have tried to go to an ObamaCare site since it opened on Oct. 1.
Among those uninsured Americans who say they plan to eventually purchase insurance through the exchanges, a slightly higher percentage, 22 percent, say they have attempted to visit an exchange site.
These results undermine the Obama administration's confidence in ObamaCare to reach its target audience. The exchange sites are not only fraught with technical problems that have led to long wait times and error messages for users, but have also failed to generate interest among uninsured Americans.
Polls reveal that the majority of the uninsured are unfamiliar with the sites and have not even attempted to access them.
Gallup previously found in an Oct. 31 survey that just 44 percent of uninsured Americans who plan to get insurance say they will do it through an exchange site. Meanwhile, just one in four say they are more likely to pay a fine instead of purchasing insurance.
