More than $150MILLION in U.S. contracts with Afghan companies have gone to groups that back anti-American terrorist attacks

A new investigation has revealed that the U.S. government has paid more than $150million to groups that fund terror attacks against American soldiers.

The findings have been reported by the Pentagon itself as the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction compiled a list of 43 such companies who are connected to Taliban leaders who have arranged bombs and attacks on American targets.

'It's like the United States government subsidizing the Taliban, al Qaeda, the Haqqani network, those groups that are trying to shoot and kill our soldiers,' New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen told ABC News.

Outrage: Senator Jeanne Shaheen spoke out after the report from the Pentagon revealed that 43 Afghan companies that the U.S. government awarded contracts to have connections to terrorist groups.

The Haqqani Network may be lesser known of those three groups, but they are familiar to security experts.

The group has been blamed for the attack on the American embassy in Kabul in 2011 that left 16 people dead.

Rather than give money to the group directly, the way that American funds have made its way through to the organization is via a road construction company that is owned by the Haqqani Network.

The company is one of 43 such private companies that the government has given contracts to, and although they have denied the connection to the Haqqani Network, the Pentagon still listed them in the report.

Flashback: Senate Democrats Killed 'Keep Your Plan' Enforcement Bill in 2010

Uh oh, Mary Landrieu and friends. Your 13th-hour ass-covering maneuver is being exposed as a political sham. How did every Senate Democrat vote back in 2010, when they could have made a difference to protect millions of Americans? CNN fires up the not-so-wayback machine:

 Senate Democrats voted unanimously three years ago to support the Obamacare rule that is largely responsible for some of the health insurance cancellation letters that are going out. In September 2010, Senate Republicans brought a resolution to the floor to block implementation of the grandfather rule, warning that it would result in canceled policies and violate President Barack Obama’s promise that people could keep their insurance if they liked it. “The District of Columbia is an island surrounded by reality. Only in the District of Columbia could you get away with telling the people if you like what you have you can keep it, and then pass regulations six months later that do just the opposite and figure that people are going to ignore it. But common sense is eventually going to prevail in this town and common sense is going to have to prevail on this piece of legislation as well,” Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley said at the time. “The administration's own regulations prove this is not the case. Under the grandfathering regulation, according to the White House's own economic impact analysis, as many as 69 percent of businesses will lose their grandfathered status by 2013 and be forced to buy government-approved plans,” the Iowa Republican said. On a party line vote, Democrats killed the resolution, which could come back to haunt vulnerable Democrats up for re-election this year. Senate Democrats like Mary Landrieu, Jeanne Shaheen, Mark Pryor, Kay Hagan and Mark Begich – all of whom voted against stopping the rule from going into effect and have since supported delaying parts of Obamacare.

'Penalized': Shaheen’s Obamacare admission

U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen actually led on a controversial issue this week. That event was more surprising than what she actually said: that the Obama administration should extend Obamacare’s open enrollment period because of the healthcare.gov signup disaster. And the reason for her position is more important than the position itself.

New Hampshire’s two members of the U.S. House, Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster, both quickly played “Me Too” and endorsed an extension. “If an individual is unable to purchase health insurance due to technical problems with enrollment, they should not be penalized because of lack of coverage,” Shaheen said. Kuster also used the word “penalized.” Perfect.

Obamacare does not allow Americans to buy any health insurance product they want. It compels us under penalty of law to buy very specific plans. They must include maternity, contraception and pediatric coverage, for instance. That makes no sense for young, single men, male retirees or couples who have surgically rendered themselves incapable of reproduction. But all must pay for that coverage or be, in the word of Shaheen and Kuster, penalized.

They believe that the federal government should tell people what kind of insurance to buy, for how much, and then punish people for not obeying the command. If they believe the federal government should have that kind of power over every American, what else are they willing to force us to do?

[VIDEO] REPORT: SENATE DEMS UP FOR RE-ELECTION IN 2014 TO BACK DELAY OF OBAMACARE ENROLLMENT DEADLINE

On Wednesday, CNN’s Dana Bash tweeted that all Senate Democrats up for re-election in 2014 will reportedly support a delay of Obamacare’s enrollment deadline.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), who is up for re-election in 2014, wrote to Obama on Tuesday and asked him to delay the enrollment deadline for the individual mandate. “Given the existing problems with the website, I urge you to consider extending open enrollment beyond the current end date of March 31, 2014,” Shaheen wrote to the president. "Allowing extra time for consumers is critically important so they have the opportunity to become familiar with the website, survey their options and enroll.”

On Wednesday, Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR), who is facing a tough challenge in his 2014 re-election against Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR), came out in support of Shaheen’s call for a delay of the individual mandate’s enrollment deadline. Pryor had previously been on record as supportive of the mandate as is.

Now, according to CNN’s Bash, the Democratic Party is coordinating an effort to support a delay in the individual mandate.
