[VIDEO] OUT: Obama lied. IN: Obama just didn’t understand Obamacare…

Tina Brown was on Morning Joe today and suggested that neither Obama nor his administration really understand Obamacare in the first place:

It’s covered in barnacles…this thing is like a big, encrusted ball of mess.
I think that so much of what’s gone down is because nobody really understands it even so. You know there’s all this attacking Obama, obviously, for what he said about…you won’t have to give up your policy. But you almost wonder whether did anybody in there really understand it. Because so many compromises and changes and so on had to be made, that in the end everything was just done in this completely-sort of-screwed-up way…this soup of kinda of, you know, chain-of-command that was just so screwed up.

Obamacare's Ticking Clock

Last week, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski tried to call the Healthcare.gov helpline and got an operator. That’s right: an operator! The call went through! MSNBC, the unofficial AV department of the Democratic party, had a scoop. The network tweeted out the big news along with a link to the video: “Mika called the Obamacare hotline and got through with no problems — right on air. WATCH.”
It’s a sure sign that the bar has been lowered to curb height when spinners are touting the exciting news that phone calls actually go through. Someone picked up the phone! Quick, hang that “Mission Accomplished” banner. Never mind that you simply cannot buy insurance from the exchanges over the phone. But the fact you can get someone on the line to tell you that is, I suppose, progress of a kind.
A few hours later, the head of the DNC, Florida representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, went on MSNBC to insist that criticisms were overblown because she actually knew a young man in her state who signed up.
This, too, is progress given that the first — widely publicized — young man to enroll, Chad Henderson, actually never signed up. And many of the members of the studio audience for this week’s Rose Garden infomercial hadn’t been able to sign up yet, either. Still, there’s an old saying: “The plural of anecdote is data.” Now we’ve entered the era of “The singular of anecdote is data, too.”
This can only go on for so long until the Democrats cut and run from a program they’ve invested nearly their entire political identity in. Already you can see the thought bubble over some of their heads: “We lost control of Congress for this hot mess?”
Ah, but Obamacare is more than a website, don’t you know? The president himself said so in his Rose Garden infomercial. And that is absolutely true. But so is this disaster. In fact, for critics of Obamacare the square-wheeled “rollout” of Healthcare.gov was a gimme. Put another way, it’s been like watching a rival football team face-plant on the way out of the locker room.

USA Today Reporter: Healthcare.gov May Need to Be Completely Overhauled

The Morning Joe panel interviewed USA Today reporter Kelly Kennedy about her damning article on the healthcare.gov Monday morning.
Kennedy said experts contend the glitches are the result of the Obamacare website being built on 10 year-old technology that may need to be completely overhauled.
Host Joe Scarborough ribbed his liberal co-host Mika Brzezinski, noting the irony that the firm hired by the U.S. to launch the Obamacare website was fired by the province of Ontario in Canada:
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Wow, Mika. I mean, so what we’re talking here Mika — the Canadians fired a Canadian firm that the United States hired to run the biggest governmental launch in a generation. Huh.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: You know, it’s interesting –
KATY KAY: Speechless.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Everybody missed that. They were so busy — I don’t know. I guess they were looking somewhere else. I don’t know.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Yeah whatever.

[VIDEO] GOP Congressman Duffy Strikes Again, Tells Mika Brzezinski 'You’re Part of the Problem'

Congressman Sean Duffy (R-Wisc.) became an internet sensation last week when he decimated MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell for her “pathetic news reporting.”
For the Congressman’s second act, he took on MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Wednesday telling the Morning Joe co-host, “You’re part of the problem” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CONGRESSMAN SEAN DUFFY (R-WISCONSIN): Mika, I got to tell you. Mika, my mom is a good liberal, and she loves you, and she’s happy I’m on the show. But I think you’re part of the problem. And you’re part of the problem because the Republican caucus sometimes can be unreasonable, but look how far we moved. We said we want to defund it, and now we’re going to delay it. And now we’re just going to ask for some very simple tweaks and reforms.
And if you actually called out your liberal guests and said, “Why won’t you join ObamaCare? If it’s good for Americans, it should be good for you?” Listen, if an American family can’t sign up on the website, why are you going to tax them? That’s not right.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI, CO-HOST: So you have a lot of good questions, but as “part of the problem,” as you so kindly put it, I will ask you very honestly…
DUFFY: I like asking you questions better, Mika, but, okay.
BRZEZINSKI: It’s fine. Do you not think that members of your party, especially in Congress and in the Ted Cruz group, are not imploding the Republican Party, big picture? Just big picture. Politics. Put all this aside for a second. Are you guys not imploding?
DUFFY: Big picture, I think this was a horrible strategy. I came on your show and I said that. If we had allowed ObamaCare to roll out and for two weeks America saw the dysfunction, and then as we roll into the debt limit and negotiate an increase, I think we would have got a one-year delay, because America would have said this is only the fair and right thing to do.
BRZEZINSKI: From a messaging standpoint, Congressman, I agree with you. And your mom is fabulous by the way.
Isn't it marvelous seeing Republicans standing up to the liberal media rather than just accepting the bias?
Bravo, Congressman! Bravo!

MSNBC Host 'Lucky' to Get Paid Half as Much as Her Male Co-Host

This morning, as MSNBC's Morning Joe came to an end, co-host Mika Brzezinski had some praise for colleagues and the company she works for. "We've been talking a lot this week about women and equal pay and all these issues," she said. "I have to say, in all seriousness, I'm very lucky to be working with you [co-host Joe Scarborough] and for a company [MSNBC] who has actually dealt with this problem transparently."
Which basically amounts to Brzezinski saying that she is "lucky" to get paid half as much as Joe Scarborough.
After all, according to the Daily Beast (whose editor, Tina Brown, is a frequent guest on the show), Scarborough makes a cool $4 million per year, while Brzezinski's salary is half as much, coming in at $2 million per year.
Brzezinski's colleague Andrea Mitchell made this point on air yesterday--that pay disparity exists at MSNBC. Politico reports:
During an interview Thursday, Mitt Romney senior adviser Barbara Comstock told Andrea Mitchell that “we know here at MSNBC the guys get paid more" — and the MSNBC host replied, “We certainly do.”
For Brzezinski's part, it's more than a bit odd that she would play down the problems at MSNBC now.
After all, her public dispute with MSNBC about pay equity has been well known. In fact, she's made it herself on her own show.
"We make less than our male counterparts," said Brzezinski last year. "I found out on this show that I made a lot less than Joe. 14 times less."
