Pelosi-Obama Cold Front Moving Into California

On Friday, one of the Democratic Party’s most generous supporters may view up close what “climate change” looks like. That's when President Obama and Nancy Pelosi will be among those gathered at his home near San Francisco in support of House Democrats.
By anyone’s definition, putting Obama and Pelosi together under one roof to sing House Democrats’ praises a week after a messy intraparty rift over trade policy should be interesting.
Tom Steyer, a billionaire former hedge fund founder whose passion is combating climate change, is scheduled along with wife Kat Taylor to host a top-dollar fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee at their home, where the president and the minority leader have replenished Democratic coffers many times before.
But on Tuesday, it was unclear whether the president and the liberal congresswoman from San Francisco were on speaking terms.
Scrambling to rescue his administration’s Asia-focused trade agenda, which Pelosi’s opposition helped torpedo on June 12, Obama spoke by phone several times with House Speaker John Boehner on Monday, but by Tuesday he had not touched base with Pelosi, according to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.
“President Obama and Leader Pelosi have demonstrated that they have a strong enough personal and professional relationship to withstand a difference even on an important issue like this,” Earnest said.
Pelosi, in an interview with CNBC Tuesday, declined to describe her conversation with Obama before the climactic House votes tangled the trade trajectory. She spoke like a San Francisco congresswoman more than as a House Democratic leader when she said she wanted to “slow down” fast-track legislation that would have granted U.S. negotiators leverage to get a massive trans-Pacific trade pact completed.
“What you saw on the floor on Friday was an expression of concern of the American people. We are representatives. That is our title, and that is our job description. These are our constituents,” she told CNBC’s John Harwood.
“I'll take you with me to my district, we'll go to church, we'll go to a parade, any place, the dry cleaners. And you will be very surprised at how everyday people who are not connected to any organized organizations, who come up and say, ‘Don't vote for that.’”

‘TAA’, ‘TAA’, America!

The TAA (Trade Adjustment Assistance) vote coming Tuesday is the Final Act of the hideous Fundamental Transformation of America.  It brings forward an America that will exist in name only in a Barack Obama-styled Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) that holds ultimate power over 40 percent of the world’s total economy. It’s the original camel as a horse designed by a committee; a European Union called the Trans-Pacific Partnership that is really the North American Union; a partnership this time without Mexico, whose population already uses the U.S. as its primary escape hatch.

That no one knows what’s in the TPP is the one big lie that keeps the masses from realizing that the TPP, packaged in the one-party politics that is now the United States of America,  is spinning non-stop toward an inevitable fait accompli.

That Nancy Pelosi and the Dems have turned on their master Obama is merely a Machiavellian ploy at work.

Watch the video (below) of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s broad-grinned, cat-that-swallowed-the-canary joint entry into a meeting on the Hill yesterday.  Do they look like natural foes to you?

What about TPP coordinator, Paul Ryan as Obama’s latest Go-to Guy for getting the job done?

Window dressing that should be filed under ‘o’ for ‘obfuscation’.

PAUL RYAN’S PELOSI-ESQUE OBAMATRADE MOMENT: ‘IT’S DECLASSIFIED AND MADE PUBLIC ONCE IT’S AGREED TO’

Chief Obamatrade proponent House Ways and Means Committee chairman
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)
60%
admitted during Congressional testimony on Wednesday evening that despite tons of claims from him and other Obamatrade supporters to the contrary, the process is highly secretive.

He also made a gaffe in his House Rules Committee testimony on par with former Speaker
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
7%
’s push to pass Obamacare, in which she said infamously said: “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

“It’s declassified and made public once it’s agreed to,” Ryan said of Obamatrade in Rules Committee testimony on Wednesday during questioning from
Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX)
79%
.

What Ryan is trying to convince House Republicans to do is vote for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) which would fast-track at least three highly secretive trade deals—specifically the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA), and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP)—and potentially more deals.
Right now, TiSA and T-TIP text are completely secretive and unavailable for even members of Congress to read while TPP text is available for members to review—although they need to go to a secret room inside the Capitol where only members of Congress and certain staffers high-level security clearances, who can only go when members are present, can read the bill.
Ryan’s exchange in which he made this gaffe came as Burgess, who opposes Obamatrade, and Rules Committee chairman
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX)
65%
, who stands with Ryan supporting it, were discussing the secrecy of the deal with him. It came right after an incredible exchange where Ryan attempted a ploy to try to save immigration provisions contained within the Obamatrade package as a whole—specifically TiSA—that wereexposed by Breitbart News earlier on Wednesday, a problem for which he put forward a phony non-solution designed to get more votes for his Obamatrade agenda but not stop the immigration provisions.

Pelosi: We’re Beating Isis – On Twitter

pelosi
Good news, everyone:
We’re out-tweeting ISIS!
And isn’t that what really counts?
Just ask babbling fool foreign policy expert Nancy Pelosi.
Were you there for the Battle of Hashtag Hill? Nancy Pelosi attempts to make the case that the US strategy against ISIS is working somewhere in this exchange with newly minted MSNBC host Patrick Murphy, a former House colleague of Pelosi’s from Florida. The range of choices for examples of victory must be very, very narrow for Pelosi to claim victory — if indeed that’s what she’s doing at all:
FMR. REP. PATRICK MURPHY, MSNBC HOST: This past week, though, when it comes to ISIS, the mixed result — unfortunately, Ramadi was taken over by ISIS. The same time, the army’s delta force captured the money man for ISIS in Syria. so obviously mixed results. So you think the strategy’s working? What else needs to be done?
REP. NANCY PELOSI: It’s an enormous challenge. And we have to fight it on every front, including the front of social media. That’s a place where they have really made more advances than you would have suspected. And that is where we have to fight them, as well. This apprehension in Syria — well, killing of one and taking of his wife, as well as important intelligence information was a success. Again, we have to fight them on all fronts. Communication-wise as well as militarily….

Nancy Pelosi Has Her Pick In Coveted FL Congressional Race

While the growing Republican field of congressional candidates continues to grow in Florida’s 18th congressional district-setting up what could be a very contentious primary race in 201-  the Democrat king-makers in Washington, D.C., who  seem hell-bent to avoid a potentially bloody primary race, may have already decided on a candidate to throw their support behind, Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay.
The Democrat establishment has already embraced Rep. Patrick Murphy, who announced he would not running for re-election in CD 18, as their Senate candidate to replace Senator Marco Rubio.
Now House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D) has settled on McKinlay, as have Florida Democrat state legislators, State Sens. Joe Abruzzo and Jeff Clemens.
McKinlay has just become the newest target for Republicans. I can only imagine the Pelosi-clone attack ads against her.
The Democrats may have decided on McKinlay perhaps because they feel that the young mother of three, who just won her county commission seat race in November 2014, could become the next Rep. Gwen Graham (D).
Graham won her 2014 congressional race against incumbent Rep. Steve Southerland by the closest of margins by running as moderate, when in fact she was significantly more liberal.
Can a woman like McKinlay bring on a second congressional lightning strike for Democrats in another one of Florida’s Republican-leaning congressional district?
If someone like McKinlay becomes the Democrat Party’s nominee in this congressional district, which some believe is almost assured with local and national Democrats backing her candidacy, which Republican from the ever-growing field of D.C. insiders, carpet-baggers, local no-name elected officials, and disabled military veterans will make it out of the Republican primary to challenge McKinlay?
Unlike Democrats, Republicans, for the most part, stay out of contested primary races like this one and allow the political process to run its course.
This has not always been the case. Anyone remember when the establishment Republicans in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. tried to crown then-Republican Governor Charlie Crist as the Republican nominee in the open Florida U.S. Senate seat in 2010?
The result of that ill-advised move by the Republican poobahs was then candidate-Marco Rubio eating both their lunch and dinner.

Pelosi Names Five Democrats to Serve on Benghazi Committee

Nancy Pelosi has officially chosen five House Democrats to serve on the House select committee on Benghazi, alongside the seven Republicans already serving. This comes on the heels of a report that after hesitation on the matter, the Democrats would fully participate in the Benghazi hearings to make it a fairer process.
A press release from Pelosi’s office lists the five Democrats who will participate: Elijah CummingsAdam SmithAdam SchiffLinda Sanchez, and Tammy Duckworth.
These Democrats will join the committee process headed by Republican Trey Gowdy, a decisive turnaround after rumblings from Democratic leaders that they should boycott the Benghazi hearings out of protest that the Republicans want to keep making an issue out of it.

Pelosi says she's not done yet

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) wants everyone to know she's not done yet.
After a recent wave of retiring veteran Democrats, the former House speaker assertively said Thursday that's no indication she would soon follow in their footsteps.
"When it is [time], you'll know," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol.
"They go at their pace, [and] I go at mine. We'll miss them — they're fabulous — but, again, it stirs the pot, and lots of people are very excited about the prospect of what comes next for them," said the Democratic leader. "It's a constantly reinvigorated body; that's what our founders intended."
Since January, a number of seasoned House Democrats, have announced that this year will be their last in Congress. The list includes many close Pelosi allies like Reps. George Miller (Calif.) and Henry Waxman (Calif.) and other longtime members such as Jim Moran (Va.), Rush Holt (N.J.) and John Dingell (Mich.), the longest serving member in the history of Congress.
While the number of retirements is not unusual and is so far less than in recent cycles, the veteran stature of the names and their relationships with Pelosi has only amplified the whispers that she, too, might be eyeing the door, particularly if the Democrats fail to take back the House in November.
Pelosi, for her part, has consistently dismissed such speculation, which has swirled ceaselessly since the Democrats lost control of the House in 2010's landslide elections.
She says her focus on passing Democratic bills and winning back the House — a tall order with the 17 seats her party needs to flip — doesn't allow the time to contemplate her longer-term plans.
"I'm too busy," she said. "As long as there's 1-in-5 children in America who lives in poverty, what I do is get up every morning revved to the task."
Pelosi used the question about her future as an opportunity to attack a comprehensive tax reform bill introduced Wednesday by Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), the head of the Ways and Means Committee.
Pelosi said the proposal would pile $2,000 in additional taxes on single moms making the minimum wage.
"I have enough to invigorate me, and everybody's timetable around here isn't everybody else's timetable around here."

House Dems to use longshot tactic to force votes, tarnish GOP in midterms

FILE: Dec. 12, 2013: House Minority Leader, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Capitol Hill, in Washington, D.C.AP
House Democrats are vowing to try a rarely used tactic to force votes in the GOP-led chamber on the minimum wage and immigration reform, a strategy that will likely fail but might hurt Republicans with voters in this year’s elections.
The tactic is known as a “discharge petition." It would require the minority party, in this case Democrats, to persuade roughly two dozen Republicans to defy their leadership and join Democrats in forcing a vote on setting the federal minimum wage at $10.10 an hour.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said fellow chamber Democrats will push the issue when Congress returns from its break Feb. 24.
The attempt to force a vote on a comprehensive overhaul of immigration laws could occur in a few months.
Democrats think that a majority of Americans support both issues and that attempting to use the discharge petition will at least portray House Republicans as the obstacle to their success.
However, the discharge petition rarely works.

NANCY PELOSI THINKS SLUGGISH JOBS REPORT SIGN OF PROGRESS

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) thinksJanuary's jobs report is a sign of progress, though economic analysts believe it represents, at best, an economy stuck in place.

Even though the report showed that the economy did not add the 150,000 jobs necessary to keep up with the growth in population, Pelosi said in a statement, “Today’s jobs report shows our recovery continuing to move forward."
She also said her colleagues in Congress could do more to "create jobs and build an economy that works for everyone." She slammed Republicans for not extending unemployment benefits and playing "politics with the lives and livelihoods of millions of Americans.”
According to Reuters, though, January was the "second straight month of weak hiring - marked by declines in retail, utilities, government, and education and health employment." In addition, the last two months represented the "weakest two months of job growth in three years, [as] December payrolls were raised only 1,000 to 75,000."
The Associated Press was not optimistic either, saying that the "surprisingly weak jobs report" will renew concerns that the "U.S. economy might be slowing after a strong finish last year" and "undermine hopes that economic growth will accelerate this year." The AP also noted that employers added 194,000 jobs last January while only adding 113,000 this January. The unemployment rates for blacks and Hispanics also increased from the previous month.

Pelosi: Obamacare will be ‘glorious’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, gestures as she speaks to reporters during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Monday defended Obamacare amid fellow Democrats’ concerns, saying that while the politics may be tricky right now, eventually having voted for the health care law will be a boon.

“We’ll ride this out,” the California Democrat said on a conference call with reporters.

Some Democrats, particularly in the Senate, are worried about facing voters having backed the health law, which has seen a rocky rollout and is costing millions of Americans their health plans — even as it is aided millions of others to sign up or get on their parents’ plans.

“It’s worth the trouble, it’s going to be a glorious thing,” Mrs. Pelosi said.

Still, she said when it comes to voters, she believes they will not have the health law at the front of their minds when they head to the polls less than a year from now for midterm congressional elections.

She signaled that Democrats are likely to reprise the income inequality message President Obama used successfully against GOP nominee Mitt Romney last year.

“I think the election is going to be, as all elections are, about the economy and what is the initiative that is going forth from the administration, from the Democrats, to make a distinction as to who benefits from a fair and just economy,” Mrs. Pelosi said.

Obama is a loser at 2013's end: Column: 2014 will be even worse for our president.

GTY_456902825_60575928A lot of people are saying that 2013 was President Obama's worst year. Roll Call headlined, "Subdued Obama Hopes For Better 2014." The Hill reported, "Obama names health care rollout his biggest mistake of dismal year." Most people seem to think it was. But I think it was average, in the manner of the old Soviet joke:
Ivan: So how was your day?
Boris: Average.
Ivan: What do you mean, average?
Boris: Worse than yesterday, better than tomorrow. So, average.
Unless something turns around, Obama's 2013 is likely to be similarly "average": Worse than 2012, but better than 2014.
It's true that Obamacare has been a debacle, wrapped in a catastrophe, shrouded in a disaster. But it's also become clear that it was founded upon a lie: Obama's "if you like your health insurance plan, you can keep it" statement was named by PolitiFact its lie of the year for 2013. Many Americans have already learned that their individualplans are being cancelled because they don't live up to Obamacare, causing enough chaos that the Obama administration has had to give certain people a last-minute "waiver" of the mandate that they buy insurance. But many more problems have just been kicked down the road -- into 2014 -- by Obama's unilateral decision. Ironically, the White House and Democrats were, just a couple of months ago, calling Republicans who wanted to delay the mandate anarchists and terrorists, and loudly proclaiming that Obamacare was "the law of the land."

Harry Reid: Redskins should change name

DON'T WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES TO DEBATE HARRY!!!
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Wednesday that the Washington Redskins should change their name.
In an interview with The Hill, Reid said, “I think [Washington Redskins owner Dan] Snyder is so short-sighted on this.”
He added, “We live in a society where you can’t denigrate a race of people. And that’s what that is. I mean you can’t have the Washington Blackskins. I think it’s so short-sighted.”
Earlier this year, Snyder said he would never change the name. Asked for comment, a spokesman for the Redskins referred to the letter Snyder wrote to the team's fans earlier this year on the name controversy
The three most powerful Democrats in Washington — President Obama, Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) — have now urged the Redskins to rethink their mascot.
Pelosi told The Hill in October that it “probably would be a good idea if they change the name.”
Obama, meanwhile, told the AP this fall that he would think about changing the name if he owned the team.
Reid noted that other sports teams have changed their controversial monikers, including the Washington Wizards. The professional basketball team used to be named the Washington Bullets.
Other members of Congress who have called for the Redskins to change their name include Reps. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) and Betty McCollum (D-Minn.) and Dels. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) and Eni F. H. Faleomavaega (D-A.S.).

Obamacare Reg Treats Congress That Spent $3.5 Trillion as a ‘Small Business’

President Barack Obama and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)(CNSNews.com) - An Obamacare regulation issued by the Office of Personnel Management in October treats the U.S. Congress—which employs more than 11,000 staffers and which spent $4,329,000,000 on its own operations and $3,454,253,000,000 to fund the full government in fiscal 2013--as a “small business.”
OPM did this so that the Treasury can pay federal subsidies of up to $11,378 per year to help members of the House and Senate and their staff buy health-insurance plans in the Obamacare “Small Business Health Options Program” (SHOP) Marketplace set up for “small employers” in Washington, D.C.
The regulation treats this federal tax subsidy paid by the U.S. Treasury as if it were an “employer contribution” made by the owner of a small business.
Subsection D of Section 1312 of the 906-page Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is entitled: “MEMBERS OF CONGRESS IN THE EXCHANGE.”
It says: “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, after the effective date of this subtitle, the only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are—(I) created under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act); or (II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act).
