Morgan to Carney: Obamacare Glitches Are Frustrating for Your Supporters, ‘Like Me and Others’

BY:
Piers Morgan bluntly told White House Press Secretary Jay Carney that theObamacare glitches are frustrating for “your supporters, like me and others” Monday on CNN.
Morgan unabashedly acknowledged he supports the “ethos” of state sponsored healthcare and considers himself an advocate for Obamacare.
However the CNN host pressed Jay Carney on the technical problems healthcare.gov is experiencing, asking the White House spokesman at what point the president’s patience with the habitual failures by his subordinates in administering the website will prompt personnel changes.
Carney, as he has done all day, dodged the question and replied the president is trying to fix the website and is not focused on “making heads roll”:
PIERS MORGAN: I agree with you. You haven’t got to persuade me. My position though is this: It is frustrating for your supporters like me and others, I don’t agree with all of Obamacare, but I broadly agree with the ethos behind it. I come from a country where everybody gets free healthcare if they want it. I totally subscribe to the ethos of what you are doing. There has to be a point, a limit, hasn’t there, to the president’s patience on his flagship program. The one many believe may be his great legacy. If the system designed to facilitate it continues to fail, someone has got to be accountable, if it is not him, who’s it going to be?
JAY CARNEY: The accountability he’s looking for is the accountability of making sure everybody who has expertise in this matter is focused on fixing it, not focused on making heads roll. That’s not the time right now to focus on that. The time is to get these problems fixed make sure the system is working most efficiently for the American people. That’s what his focus is on right now. Not on, pointing fingers of blame but making sure it works. [...]

Gun Expert Piers Morgan Gets His Constitutional Amendments Mixed Up ...

BY:
CNN host and noted gun control supporter Piers Morgan got his constitutional amendments mixed during an interview on CBS This Morning Tuesday promoting his new book.
Morgan announced himself a supporter of the First Amendment right of Americans to defend themselves with a handgun in their home, but it’s the Second Amendment granting the right to bear arms.
Morgan has been a fierce advocate for gun control on his CNN show Piers Morgan Live over the past year, getting in a shouting match with the founder of Guns Save Lives Day Alan Gottlieb as recently as Monday night:
NORAH O’DONNELL: You were talking about banning guns. We have the Second Amendment here in America, and there are more than 100 million gun owners in this country. It is is a right that many Americans enjoy and use safely.
PIERS MORGAN: I have no problem in a country with so many guns in circulation with a family exercising their First Amendment right to defend their families with a handgun at home. But nobody can tell me that any civilian in America needs a military-style assault weapon or a magazine which has 30 to 100 bullets as we saw in Aurora or Sandy Hook.

Piers Morgan Expected to Lose 9PM Hour on CNN; Bill Weir to Move In?

Earlier this morning, we reported that Nightline anchor Bill Weir was departing ABC News for other pastures.
TVNewser beat us to the punch on the news thathis new role is with CNN. But that is only part of the story. A reliable source connected to CNN tells Mediaite that Weir has been promised a show during the 9 p.m. ET hour — an hour that happens to be currently occupied by Piers Morgan.
According to our source, the details and timing have not yet been worked out (and we are told it will likely take “many months“) but that Weir is expected to get either half or all of the 9 p.m. slot, meaning Morgan will either move time slots or, at best, reduce to a half hour of airtime per evening. Another CNN source tells us that Weir’s show will likely launch in “late night” but our original source insists that if that happens, the goal would be to test it out for an eventual move to the 9 p.m. hour.
Either way, the British host, who’s become associated with his anti-gun fights as of late, looks to be losing the full 9 p.m. hour.
Weir was previously the anchor of ABC’s newsmagazine show Nightline, and on Friday morning, ABC News chief Ben Sherwood announced that Weir was leaving “for another opportunity in the news business.”
Earlier this month, FTVLive reported that CNN was preparing to “dump” Piers Morgan, with Katie Couric allegedly being eyed as a replacement. That rumor plus Morgan’s declining ratings furtherfueled speculation that he could be planning an exit strategy from CNN.
We’ll have more here as this story develops.
UPDATE: A spokesperson provides the following comment: “Bill Weir was not brought to CNN to replace Piers Morgan.”
