Katie Pavlich: ICE director says no one fired for releasing more than 65,000 criminal aliens

As Twitchy reported earlier today, testimony from a House Oversight hearing on a massive security compromise of federal computer systems led a number of people to ask just what it would take for a federal employee to be fired, or at the very least shamed into resigning. Office of Personnel Management director Katherine Archuleta was reportedly offered chances to apologize and resign but “declined to do either.”

This afternoon, House subcommittees on national security and on health care, benefits, and administrative rules met to discuss President Obama’s 2014 executive actions on immigration, which allowed illegal aliens to apply for deferred action status, which protected them from deportation and authorized them to work legally in the United States. Those aliens would then be eligible to obtain Social Security numbers and other government benefits.

Among those to testify was U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Sarah Saldaña, and Townhall editor Katie Pavlich also makes the case that it’s high time for some high-level government firings.

Fox's Jim Angle: HealthCare.gov Wouldn't Talk to Me, Knew I Was in the Media

Maybe the folks running the HealthCare.gov call centers don't have an enemies list. Instead, based on the experience of Fox News's Jim Angle, it might be an enemies directory, with anyone they're aware of in the media and perhaps other organizations included therein.

That's what one almost has to think based on the experience Angle recounted on the air and relayed via Twitter Friday (HT Twitchy; individual Angle tweets are here, here, and here):

The body of Angle's report was also important, because it showed how another aspect of President Obama's core promise to the Americans people — this time, it was "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, period," won't pan out, because Obamacare plans are deliberately keeping the number of doctors in their networks low to try to control costs.

Angle's on-air summary: "So the site seems to be more successful at identifying reporters than explaining the options and signing people up for health insurance."

Based on how Angle relayed the story, it would appear that the only way the helpful HC.gov call center folks could have determined that Angle was a likely media member was by cross-checking his given address against an existing list or directory of media members' home addresses.

If that's the case ... Wow. Talk about paranoia.

If a member of the establishment press had received this kind of creepy treatment at a citizen service line during the Bush 43 administration, I daresay it would have gotten noticed by the likes of the New York Times and the Associated Press.

I don't think that's going to happen this time around.

Here's one reaction to Angle's second tweet:

 They can track you but they can't enroll you now that is weird.

I can think of a few other words more apt to the circumstances than "weird."

Rep. Renee Ellmers introduces bill to protect Americans from Obamacare fines

The name of the legislation — the “Fairness in Failed Federal Exchanges Act” — gives a pretty good idea why Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) thinks that Americans should have a reprieve from Obamacare fines, at least until the system is proved to be up and running as intended. We’re guessing today’s testimony from HealthCare.gov contractor CGI Federal didn’t do much to reassure her that was going to happen any time soon, or even next year.

In short, the legislation would exempt individuals from paying the Obamacare noncompliance fine in 2014 and beyond if they attest that they’ve been unable to enroll in an exchange due to technical problems. Ellmers issued a brief but stern statement that included the word “trainwreck”:

The American people deserve a reprieve from the failures of the Obama administration and should not be penalized because the White House can’t build a functioning website. That’s why today I have introduced legislation that will provide a way out of this mess and offer some sanity to the pathetic rollout of this terrible law. The Fairness in Failed Federal Exchange Act will exempt people from the individual mandate penalty and protect them from facing unjust fines and penalties because of this trainwreck.

Obama Declares “Al-Qaeda Has Been Decimated”…

Even as new information continues to surface revealing that the Obama White House may be embroiled in a cover-up scandal regarding the terror attack in Benghazi that left four Americans dead, the president took to the campaign trail in Wisconsin Thursday morning and actually declared that “al Qaeda has been decimated.” Recall that the carnage in Libya was, according to experts, waged by al Qaeda or pro-al Qaeda affiliates like the militant group Ansar al Sharia, which even claimed credit for the attack.

The president made the ire-inducing remark during a campaign stop at Austin Straubel International Airport Thursday morning where he spoke to a crowd of some 2,600 people. Obama, wearing a flight-jacket, addressed Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, then touched on the economy but  highlighted what he framed as his accomplishments in foreign policy, including smiting Osama bin Laden and yes, “decimating al Qaeda.”

“The war in Afghanistan is winding down,” the president said. “al Qaeda has been decimated. Osama bin Laden is dead. So we made real progress these last four years, but Wisconsin, we know our work’s not done yet.”
