Van Jones: Dems Should Be Concerned GOP Doing ‘Pretty Well’ with Women

With Republican “establishment” candidates appearing set to emerge victorious over a variety of tea party insurgents on Tuesday night, a CNN panel dug into the issue of whether or not the Republican Party had learned the lessons of 2012 and 2010 when exotic candidates lost to unpopular Democratic incumbents. CNN host and former White House official Van Jones warned that, along with nominating stronger candidates, the GOP has also been nominating and electing more women to high office than in the past.
Jones made this comment after CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin asked why a variety of northeastern states had never elected a female governor in their histories. Jones said that was a “crime” and a “shame,” but said that he thought Democrats were poised to address that disparity.
“Also, the Republicans have been doing pretty well these past couple of years with regard to women,” Jones added. “Democrats can’t rest on that forever.”
“I think the same thing holds for Hispanics,” CNN contributor Ana Navarro added. “A lot of that has to do with diversity of thought when it comes to Hispanics in the Republican Party. In the Democratic Party, they run in districts specifically drawn for them.”

AWESOME: Tim Scott refuses to endorse Lindsey Graham…

"You know, as you three have just heard recently, I am up for re-election next year myself," Scott said. "I’m going to make sure that Tim Scott gets out...I'm gonna allow for all the other folks on the ballot to represent themselves very well. I'm gonna continue to work hard for my election."
"So no endorsement for Lindsey tonight?" host Van Jones asked.

"I certainly am going to work really hard for Tim Scott," the junior South Carolina senator said.
A two-term senator, Graham is facing a crowded primary field that includes four GOP challengers. Scott was appointed late last year by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) to serve the remainder of former Sen. Jim DeMint's (R-SC) term.

Van Jones Blames Obamacare Problems on Media, Richard Nixon, Heritage Foundation, and GOP

Perhaps the Obamacare apologists are running out of people to blame for the failed Obamacare rollout and the President's "you can keep your insurance, period" lie.
During the panel discussion on Sunday's State of the Union with Candy Crowley, Van Jones blamed the launch issues first on the mainstream media misinformation, then on a long list of usual and not-so-usual suspects, including former President Richard Nixon, the Heritage Foundation, and the tried and trite, Republican Party.
Of course, Jones left one conspicuous name off his increasingly desperate list...
Fellow panelist and CNN Commentator Ross Douthat asked Jones if there will be a moment where the left-wing of the party demands a presidential candidate "who will push not to fix Obamacare which was always a compromise, but for single payer."  That's when Jones launched into his shameless blame gaming:
It's conceivable, but I think we're a long way from there. What it's going to come down to is, does the media get tired of pretending that Obamacare is just a website that didn't work and these cancelation notices? If the media were going to be fair, here's what they would do: For every one story about a cancelation notice, there would be three stories about people benefiting from Obamacare right now. Even with the website broken, every woman across American is benefiting because they can't be discriminated against. Even with the website broken, you have every kid under the age of 26 being benefited. We don't tell stories of successes right now. Maybe we get bored with this. We only talk about the downside. The minute that Democrats get it together to promote the incredible successes --
Douthat interrupted Jones by jokingly asking if he was going to run against Hillary Clinton as champion of single-payer in 2016. Jones replied by cramming more villains into his blame list:
I'm for single-payer. Part of the problem is we gave up on single-payer without a fight. Now it looks like this moderate Romneycare thing is a left-wing plot, when in fact this Romneycare thing that Obama is putting in place came from Richard Nixon, the Heritage Foundation, and the Republicans.

[VIDEO] Former Obama Administration Official: Obama Will ‘Pay Price’ For Healthcare Promise Reversal

This morning on “This Week,” Crossfire co-host Van Jones, a former Obama administration official, said the president would “pay a price,” for reversing course on his now famous promise that those Americans who like their plans could keep them if them if they wished under Obamacare.
“”And he overpromised.  And he will, listen, he will pay a price. ‘Mission accomplished,’ you pay a price. ‘No new taxes,’ you pay a price. ‘You keep your plan,’ you pay a price,” Jones said.
During his appearance on the “This Week,” roundtable Jones also tweaked the Obama administration for being too ambitious with Healthcare.gov, which has been plagued by problems since its launch last month.
“First of all, they tried to do too much on this website, you could just have the website where you allow people to shop and then they could just call in, I mean, they tried to do too much and I think part of it was because it was a central thing they did, they tried to do too much,” he said.
White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer, who appeared on “This Week,” defended the president.
“If the president didn’t intend to keep this promise, why would he have gone out of his way to put a provision in the law that specifically says that if you have a plan before Obamacare passed, you can keep that plan,” he asked.
Jones also took the Republicans to task for what he described as hypocritical behavior.
“It is amazing to me now to see the Republican party now become the party of Ralph Nader. They’re the biggest consumer protection operation in the world now but 6 months ago, we had people who were getting these same cancellation notices and the Republican party was silent,” Jones said.
