ObamaCare Costs are Out of this World

We all remember those infamous words when President Obama pledged that the legislation would cost “around $900 million over ten years”. We knew he was not telling the truth then and he’s not telling the truth now. The truth (if you want to call it that) finally came out compliments of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).  The democrats knew. The republicans knew. My two year old niece knew.  It was all a big lie to sell the American people into believing what some of us already knew, ObamaCare was a bad idea and the cost was going to cost trillions of dollars and not billions of dollars that this country could ill afford.

On Monday March 12, the CBO announced revised figures about the true cost of ObamaCare based on new estimates. I hope you are sitting down. It's going to be $1.76 billion dollars over ten a ten year period starting in January 2013.  What you are thinking at this moment cannot be printed. If it could be, it would probably include several familiar words.  You are more than welcome to mumble them to yourself.

As recently as last week we also learned the deficit reduction estimate of $143 billion over the next ten years had already disappeared courtesy of the class act that would have contributed $86 billion in revenue and an increase of $111 billion for the mandatory cost of exchanges. If my math is right the $143 billion deficit reduction as it turns out will “INCREASE” the deficit by $54 billion. If these number are too much to comprehend let’s just say that it’s a boatload of money we don’t have. And this is only the beginning.

In addition, more staggering facts about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the official name of ObamaCare, were announced this week, again compliments of the CBO. It concluded that 20 million people could lose their employer-sponsored coverage in 2019. This is the worst case scenario. The most optimistic estimate is that 3 to 5 million people will lose this coverage between 2019 and 2022. It is beyond anyone’s comprehension that they are able to estimate anything beyond next week.  The regulations that govern ObamaCare are not even close to being finished.

Other hidden costs that Obama and the democrats also failed to tell you is that it also creates 159 new offices, agencies and commissions, and requires 16,000 new IRS agents to enforce the insurance mandates. In 2010 prior to the vote, I called a number of democrat congressional offices to inquire whether this was included in the cost of ObamaCare and as I expected the answer was I don't know. When I called and asked republican congressional offices, they gave me a resounding no. Can anyone guess what this will cost? Surprise, surprise, neither do the democrats.

And in case you have not noticed this “wonderful health plan” has been conspicuously absent from most of Mr. Obama's campaign speeches?  If you listen to all his Republican opponents (except Romney), they have not stopped talking about it and what it means to the average American.  Romney has taken the high road and just said you can't compare his signature legislation Romney Care with ObamaCare.  What's the difference? Both are mandatory, both will cost incalculable amounts, and both have "fines" if you choose not to have insurance. Our future is being hijacked and ObamaCare has been set up to fail the American people.

On March 26-28, the Supreme Court will hear arguments for ObamaCare with a decision not expected until June. Unfortunately the court has ruled out allow camera’s for this historic event, but they will be releasing same-day audio recordings. One can only hope that the Supreme Court sides with the American people and rules on the unconstitutionality of ObamaCare and puts the brakes on once and for all.
