War on Halloween? The Five Rails Against ‘Costume Correctness’

Thanks to Fox News, we know there’s a War on Christmas. And we’re pretty there’s a War on Easter. But what about Halloween? Today on The FiveEric Bolling kicked off a discussion about an epidemic of “costume correctness” that may just be sweeping the nation this year.
Bolling reported that a medical center in Kentucky is requiring all of their employees to attend a sensitivity training course after someone came to a Halloween party dressed as President Obama in a straight jacket. And, Pottery Barn had to apologize for selling Asian-themed costumes that some found “culturally offensive.”
Dana Perino pointed out that when she was White House press secretary her boss George W. Bush was the most popular mask in America. “It was not a compliment and nobody had to go to diversity training.” None of the hosts could comprehend what was wrong with the Pottery Barn costumes, with Greg Gutfeld saying “it only takes one complaint” to make “skittish” companies apologies.
Perino urged President Obama to come out and say, “Guys, wear whatever you want. Halloween is Halloween.”
Bolling added that it would be even better of Obama made that announcement while wearing a Bush mask.

PERINO: Five Tips for Republicans Grilling Sebelius About ObamaCare on Wednesday

featured-imgHere are five tips for a good hearing:
1. Take the umpteenth opportunity to make a new impression. Congressional hearings can be painful to watch. It makes people cringe to see members of Congress who haven't even looked at their staff's work before they sit down and start spouting.  With limited time to question a witness, it's understandable that rapid fire questions and sound bites might seem like better TV and the best way to leave a mark. But if people cringe when they're watching, you can lose ground.
Bottom line, don't make me feel sorry for the witness!
2. Come with more facts. The secretary will be prepared, and the press is looking for Republicans to stumble, so the burden is on you to know more than anyone else in the room. Facts give you confidence and people recognize them as stronger than cotton candy talking points that melt on contact. As saying among trial lawyers goes, facts win.
3. Bottle the fake outrage. You need to project gravitas, not rage.  People want assured, confident leaders who sound like in control of their emotions...show some passion, sure, but don't over do it. Sincerity is key. Manners speak loudly.
4. Channel the frustration. Don't make the hearing personal about how mad YOU are but instead talk about your constituents. Repeat the stories and anecdotes you’ve heard from back home. And use the administration's own words against them. There are plenty of Democrats to quote -- the embarrassment should be solely theirs. Let them own it.
5. Be able to CRISPLY describe the policies that the GOP is FOR, not just what it is against. Persuade with facts. Make the alternative seem more attractive, rather than people walking away with the impression that you just can't stand Obama and don't want to support his signature legislation. Practice saying (in less than three sentences) what you're for and why it would be better.  Don't let them pin the "Republicans have no plan" tag on you. You're an elephant, not a donkey!

Dana Perino to Juan Williams: ‘Liberals Live in Biggest Media Bubble in History of the Universe’

On Fox News Sunday, Former George W Bush White House Press Secretary Dana Perino rebutted Fox contributor Juan Williams’ accusation that Republicans live in an ideological echo chamber by accusing Democrats of living in the “biggest mainstream media bubble every created in the history of the universe.”
Perino had argued that the conservative strategy that resulted in the government shutdown had been worthwhile, as it had “shaken upo the status quo.”
That was a bit much for Williams. “I don’t think shaking up the status quo is the goal here,” he said. “The problem is that you get people into office who say, when I’m talking to them, they say ‘I was elected to fight Obamacare, I was sent to Washington to shake up the status quo.’ And I think: you were sent to Washington to govern, to represent the interests of the American people, not some small sector.”
“Right now in the Republican Party, the base of the party is in the south, overwhelmly white, and very, very, very conservative,” Williams continued. “And all they do is live in a very small bubble, including a media bubble, and talk to each other, and they are confirmed.”
“And you don’t think that’s true of Democrats?” Wallace asked.
Perino backed him up. “The Democrats and the liberals live in the biggest mainstream media bubble every created in the history of the universe,” she said. “If you look at Republicans across many of the states, governorsor state legislators, Republicans are actually doing really good work, just nationally they’re taking a hit on their reputation.”

The Five’s Gutfeld Claims Obama ‘Didn’t Care’ About Obamacare Launch

It’s been 10 days since enrollment began in the Affordable Care Act exchanges, and Fox News’The Five continues to pile on the problems with the law’s rollout. On Thursday’s show, Greg Gutfeld went on a particularly aggressive rant aimed atPresident Obama, who he claimed “didn’t care” enough about his own legislation to see that it was implemented flawlessly. He even suggested that Obama didn’t read the bill before it passed.

After watching video of Obama and his administration officials promising Obamacare would be “ready to go” on October 1st, Gutfeld unleashed his rant:
“You know what kills me about this whole thing? Obama loves to say about everything, ‘We knew it wasn’t going to be easy.’ He says that about everything single thing. Well, guess what? Easy is often a marker of success. When something unfolds, like an Apple launch, it’s because there’s all these people that work really, really hard to make it happen.
He somehow believes that we deserve the punishment of failure. That ‘this is going to hard, never said it was going to be easy, and it’s your problem.’ It shows that he didn’t actually work that hard on this. He never read the bill. He didn’t care.”
Gutfeld’s assertions were not challenged by any of his co-hosts, including the left-leaning Bob Beckel, who previously endorsed the idea to delay aspects of the law at least temporarily if not for a year. Dana Perino hit the administration for promising success and claimed Americans will be fined if they do not have health insurance by December 31st of this year. The actual date is March 31, 2014, but as the AP reported, that means applications will need to be submitted by mid-February.
But it was Andrea Tantaros who wholeheartedly agreed with Gutfeld. “Greg, you’re absolutely right,” she said. “President Obama had his hands off this thing from the beginning. Reid and Pelosi did it. I don’t understand why he doesn’t take the delay of the individual mandate. I’m actually angry that Republicans would offer it. I can’t believe Republicans would give him an out like this.”
The idea that conservatives would suggest that Obama has tried to distance himself from the Affordable Care Act is particularly ironic given the fact that he embraced the term they coined for the law: “Obamacare.”
