Sailors Blame Michelle Obama For Navy's Fried Food Ban

Getty Images/Scott Olson
Sailors outraged over the Navy’s plan to phase out fried foods from its menus have found the perfect vessel for their anger in First Lady Michelle Obama.
The First Lady doesn’t set nutrition policy for the nation’s fleets. But that hasn’t stopped more than two dozen critics—many of them current and former Navy personnel—from flooding a Navy Times Facebook thread to blame FLOTUS, who has made combating obesity and promoting healthy eating her signature issues.

“Is Michelle Obama now playing big sister to the military hotline?” asked Robert Leon Harke?
Mike Dibble chimed in: “First the kids, now the troops.”
Others reacting to the story soon piled on.

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus hinted at a host of sweeping changes to sailor fitness and nutrition back in May, The Navy Times reported. In addition to forgoing french fries and fried chicken, sailors will also no longer be able to order whole milk at chow halls. Instead, they will have to go with either skim or soy milk.
The fried food ban is expected to go fleet-wide in 2017

Is Michelle self-cast in ‘underdog’ role recruiting for next revolution activists?

Okay, we get the picture the mainstream sends.  First Lady Michelle Obama is so much in demand as a celebrity that she gets to sip tea at will with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace and merits “an affectionate reunion” with Barack “bro” Prime Minister David Cameron and his Mrs. on the steps of Downing Street.

Oh, the powers protocol bestows on the wife,  daughter and even the mother-in-law of a president.  Just as the rarified gentry of the Victorian era, when matrons waited at home for other mavens to come calling, world leaders long ago took for themselves, the same unalienable rights.

The big picture the mainstream media never shows is the gallivanting Michelle serving up her trademark malicious menu of malcontent, the one that focuses on everything negative and that potentially feeds the festering resentment of today’s restless youth.

But then again Michelle’s incurable state of ‘Me-ism’ is not a pretty picture.

As keynote speaker at graduation ceremonies, like the one at King College Prep High School in Chicago’s South Side this year,  she offered no hope, no inspiration to eager young graduates going out into the world.  Instead, she spun again the sorry tale of how her and her husband suffered at the hands of a supposedly racist society:

“I know the struggles many of you face, how you walk the long way home to avoid the gangs; how you fight to concentrate on your schoolwork when there’s too much noise at home; how you keep it together when your family’s having a hard time making ends meet. But more importantly, I know the strength of this community.”

MRS. OBAMA IN BRITAIN: VISITS BANGLADESHI-DOMINATED SCHOOL WHICH HOSTS HARD-LEFT CONFERENCES IN ISLAMIST-FRIENDLY BOROUGH

U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama travelled to the United Kingdom today, choosing to give a speech on female empowerment while surrounded by hijab-clad girls in the ethnically “diverse” London borough of Tower Hamlets.

But the Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets, from where Mrs. Obama chose to lecture, isn’t ethnically diverse, and nor is the Mulberry School for Girls that she visited.
Tower Hamlets, which only days ago managed to shake off its Islamist-linked Mayor, boasts a Bangladeshi, Indian, and Pakistani, and otherwise Asian population. At the last census, in 2011, 39 percent of the population self-identified as Christian, while 36 percent identified as Muslim. The Muslim population of the borough is believed to have overtaken the Christian population by some way in the years since, with the next census not due until 2021.
And in Tower Hamlets, nearly 1 in 5 residents did not speak English as their first language, according to the 2011 statistics, opting instead for Bengali.
The Mulberry School for Girls, where Mrs Obama delivered her patronising ‘Let Girls Learn’ speech, is described in multiple Ofsted school inspection reports as having “nearly all students… of Bangladeshi heritage, with a very small minority from other backgrounds, including White British, Pakistani and African.”

NBC, ABC Gush Over ‘Celebrity-Packed Secret Soiree’ at White House

While NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America ignored longtime Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal testifying before the House Benghazi Committee on Tuesday, both morning shows eagerly touted a “celebrity-packed secret soiree” at the White House “with 500 guests, including a couple of music legends.”

On Today, co-host Carson Daly proclaimed: “Now to that secret soiree at the White House hosted by the President and First Lady, featuring Prince and Stevie Wonder. Not too shabby. It happened over the weekend.”

Moments later Daly revealed: “You know who was at this event? Our friend Al Roker.” News anchor Natalie Morales noted another NBC host at the exclusive presidential party: “And Tamron [Hall]. And Tamron was there.”

Roker gushed about the event: “Well, it was very nice, some lovely hors d’oeuvres. And got to watch the First Lady and the President get down. So it was – but to see Prince and then Stevie Wonder together performing was worth everything....it was unbelievable.”

Daly wondered: “How do you get on the list?...How did you get invited to this secret party at the White House?” Roker joked: “I don't know. I think it was a mistake. They actually wanted [my wife] Deborah and I had to come along.”

In reality, it was not the first time Roker attended a White House bash. In 2014, Roker could not contain his excitement while describing another party with the Obamas: “I actually got to boogie a little with the First Lady....Deborah and I were dancing and all of a sudden I turned around and there was Mrs. Obama....And I'm thinking, ‘Oh, my gosh, I'm dancing with the First Lady.’”

On Good Morning America, correspondent Jim Avila declared: “It's tough to keep a concert secret when the headliner is Prince, the accompanist is Stevie Wonder, the audience is the First Family, and the venue is the White House – especially in the age of social media.”

Taxpayers Billed $128,781 for Michelle Obama to See Cultural Sites in Venice

First lady traveling to London, Italy to cook with children, see Prince Harry

Hotel costs for First Lady Michelle Obama to see cultural sites in Venice during the last leg of her trip overseas is costing taxpayers $128,781.
The First Lady left for London and Italy on Monday for her “Let Girls Learn” initiative and anti-obesity campaign Let’s Move. During the trip she will cook with children, visit U.S. service members stationed in Italy, and visit Prince Harry.
“From London, the First Lady will travel to Milan,” according to the White House press office. “As part of her Let’s Move! initiative, the First Lady will lead a Presidential Delegation to the Milan Expo 2015, representing our steadfast commitment to a healthier nation.”
The delegation is entitled “American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet.”
“Mrs. Obama and the Delegation will also participate in a cooking activity with children,” the press office said. “In addition to visiting the U.S. Pavilion, the First Lady will meet with Prime Minister Renzi, and tour the Italian Pavilion with Ms. Landini, the Prime Minister’s wife.”
“From there, the First Lady will travel to Vicenza, Italy,” they said. “As part of the Joining Forces initiative, Mrs. Obama will visit members of the military and their families stationed at U.S. Army Garrison Vicenza.”
“The First Lady looks forward to personally thanking the service members and their families and reminding them that their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed by the American people,” the press office said.
“The First Lady will also visit cultural sites in Venice before returning to Washington, D.C.,” the statement concluded.

Feds launch social media push to combat complaints about Michelle Obama’s lunch program

Moving beyond the lunch line, new rules expected to be proposed by the White House and the Agriculture Department Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, would limit marketing of unhealthy foods in schools, phasing out the advertising of sugary drinks and junk foods around school campuses and ensuring that other promotions in schools are in line with health standards that apply to school foods. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is pushing back against a campaign criticizing First Lady Michelle Obama’s school lunch rules by showing one picture of a somewhat appetizing child’s lunch.
“They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in the digital age we have ample opportunity to document and broadcast every moment, meeting and meal,” wrote Deborah Kane, the national director of the USDA Farm to School Program, in a blog post Thursday. “We have all seen those unappetizing photos of food served at school that quickly go viral. A lonesome whole wheat bun atop a sad fish fillet; a mysterious-looking meat mixture served next to an apple. It’s natural to ask, ‘Is this what they serve for lunch!?’ No, it’s really not.”
The blog post, entitled “Photo Worthy Meals,” shows one image of a school lunch served in a New Orleans charter school. The photo stands in contrast to images of meager portions and unappetizing selections shared with the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama, a Twitter campaign started by students against the healthy eating law.

Michelle Obama Takes Another Taxpayer-Funded Trip

The first lady, her mother, her two kids, plus numerous White House aides and security personnel are going to tour China this month, but White House officials are refusing to say how much the taxpayers will pay for the trip.
However, they did say it would be a thrill for everyone on the trip, including for Michelle Obama’s top aide, Tina Tchen.
“It is a real honor and privilege, and I think we are all, here in the first lady’s office, quite excited about the upcoming trip,” said Tchen, just after she declared that “my parents emigrated from China in the late ’40s, so this … will be my fourth time returning to China but the first time, obviously, in a role such as this.”

Let Junk Food Be Advertised at Schools

Today, First Lady Michelle Obama announced it was time to ban advertising of what she deems unhealthy snacks in public schools. School children already can’t buy such foods in their schools, thanks to a government ban, but apparently she doesn’t even want kids to think about buying them. Increasingly, if liberals have their way, you’ll never have to make another decision for yourself or your family.

Aspen airport shuts down for Michelle Obama

First Lady Michelle Obama apparently halted private-jet traffic at Aspen airport as she landed for a weekend of skiing while President Obama headed to California.
Michelle, with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, was expected to touch down in Aspen Friday to spend Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend away from her husband, who was meeting late Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Mrs. Obama’s arrival amid tight security was expected to delay the arrival of other wealthy vacationers on private jets at the Colorado ski resort. One source said, “Some of those heading into Aspen were whining that they’re shutting the airport for an hour so nobody can get in on their private jets on a high travel day.” The weather in New York and in Aspen caused further delays. The White House did not get back to us about the first lady’s arrival.
Aspen airport’s director of aviation, Jim Elwood, declined to discuss Mrs. Obama’s travel plans, but said, “Typically when VIPs land, we do not close the airport, but hold other traffic for a few minutes.” He added, “This is one of our busiest weekends of the year and we expect several hundred planes today.”
Mrs. Obama was spotted with her daughters at Aspen’s Buttermilk ski area over Presidents Day weekend in 2012 and 2013.
Last year, the Obama family stayed at the home of Aspen Skiing Company owners Jim and Paula Crown, who are big Democratic donors. Their security team occupied a house next door.

First lady: Signing up for Obamacare should be New Year's resolution

Photo - President Barack Obama, right, gestures as he speaks to the media as he and first lady Michelle Obama meet with a group of mothers in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, to discuss how health care reform could benefit their families. (AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster)
First lady Michelle Obama encouraged young people to sign up forObamacare, telling them that enrolling in the health law's new insurance exchanges should be a New Year's resolution.
“This act provides a safety net for millions and millions of Americans but we have to take the next step to go check it out, sign up and make sure that we're covered,” said Mrs. Obama in an interview for “The Joe Madison Show” on Sirius XM. “That should be our New Year's resolutions to ourselves.”
The first lady’s interview was one of three on radio programs as the administration looks to boost enrollment in Obamacare ahead of a Dec. 23 deadline for consumers to receive insurance at the start of 2014.
The administration is scrambling to sign up consumers in insurance exchanges after the glitch-ridden launch of the healthcare.gov website in October led to lower than expected sign ups and undercut public support for Obama's signature domestic achievement.
On Wednesday, the first lady and President Obama met with mothers in the White House and touted the role they play in making health care decisions for their families. The administration is courting mothers to encourage them to sign up their spouses and children, and touting the health law as the only way to cover all family members.
“There’s something about moms,” said the president at the event. “Number one, they’ve got credibility generally; number two, women oftentimes are the ones who are making the health care decisions of the family; number three, moms can tell young people who think they’re invincible that they’re not and prod them to at least get information.”

Leaning Out: How Michelle Obama became a feminist nightmare.

Last Tuesday, when Michelle Obama took a fashionably shod toe and dipped it into her husband’s efforts to address the nation’s higher-ed gap, the move was greeted by some feminists with a relieved, “It’s about damn time!”

Here, finally, was an issue worthy of the Ivy-educated, blue-chip law firm-trained first lady, a departure from the safely, soothingly domestic causes she had previously embraced. Gardening? Tending wounded soldiers? Reading to children? “She essentially became the English lady of the manor, Tory Party, circa 1830s,” feminist Linda Hirshman says.

Speaking last week at Bell Multicultural High School, a couple of miles north of the White House, the first lady touted the importance of a college degree, citing her own journey from a one-bedroom apartment on Chicago’s South Side to Princeton as evidence of how far hard work and good schooling can take you. “I’m here today because I want you to know that my story can be your story,” she told the predominantly low-income, heavily minority student body.

The personal plea was part of a glitzy rollout for a new administration initiative. Working with Education Secretary Arne Duncan, the first lady will become an “ambassador” for the new “North Star” program meant to make the United States the global leader in the percentage of young people it propels through college (we currently rank 12th, according to the White House), with special outreach to communities on the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum.

Michelle Obama dreams of kids begging for fruits and vegetables instead of cookies and candy

Photo - Under an agreement being announced Wednesday at the White House, the nonprofit organization behind the popular children's educational program will allow the produce industry to use Elmo, Big Bird and Sesame Street's other furry characters to help market fruits and vegetables to kids. (AP Image)First lady Michelle Obama teamed up with "Sesame Street" characters to promote fruits and vegetables to children on Wednesday.
Obama argued that if children saw fruits and vegetables branded with "Sesame Street" Muppets stickers, they would be more attracted to the products.
“Just imagine what will happen when we take our kids to the grocery store, and they see Elmo and Rosita and the other Sesame Street Muppets they love up and down the produce aisle,” she said. “Imagine what it will be like to have our kids begging us to buy them fruits and vegetables instead of cookies, candy and chips.
The Sesame Workshop and the Produce Marketing Association joined the Partnership for a Healthier America to utilize "Sesame Street" characters to deliver messages about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables.

Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare website

First Lady Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the contract to build the failed Obamacare website.
Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company.
Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.
Toni Townes ’85 is a onetime policy analyst with the General Accounting Office and previously served in the Peace Corps in Gabon, West Africa. Her decision to return to work, as an African-American woman, after six years of raising kids was applauded by a Princeton alumni publication in 1998
George Schindler, the president for U.S. and Canada of the Canadian-based CGI Group, CGI Federal’s parent company, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract.
As reported by the Washington Examiner in early October, the Department of Health and Human Services reviewed only CGI’s bid for the Obamacare account. CGI was one of 16 companies qualified under the Bush administration to provide certain tech services to the federal government. A senior vice president for the company testified this week before The House Committee on Energy and Commerce that four companies submitted bids, but did not name those companies or explain why only CGI’s bid was considered.
On the government end, construction of the disastrous Healthcare.gov website was overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of longtime failed website-builder Kathleen Sebelius’ Department of Health and Human Services.
Update: The Daily Caller repeatedly contacted CGI Federal for comment. After publication of this article, the company responded that there would be “nothing coming out of CGI for the record or otherwise today.” The company did however insist that The Daily Caller include a reference to vice president Cheryl Campbell’s House testimony. This has been included as a courtesy to the company.

Hillary Clinton Turns Tables On Heckler In Buffalo

Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting In New York
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton turned the tables on a heckler Wednesday, in an effort to make a point about the need to find common ground to solve the nation’s problems.
During a speech at the University at Buffalo, Clinton first ignored the man’s shouts as she spoke of Buffalo as a model for problem-solving through cooperation.
“Because we can’t move from crisis to crisis, we have to be willing to come together as citizens to focus on the kind of future we want,” she said. As the shouts grew louder from an upper section of bleachers, she added, “which doesn’t include yelling. It includes sitting down and talking.”
The 6,500 people in attendance reacted with a sustained standing ovation as the heckler was led out.
Clinton spoke for about 30 minutes before taking audience questions, referring to her time representing New York in the U.S. Senate to illustrate a national strategy for advancing the economy. She said long-term investments she helped facilitate in technology, the arts and Buffalo’s waterfront are now starting to pay off for the region.
“That is exactly what we need to be doing,” she said, “in Buffalo, in New York, in America”
During the question-and-answer session, the former first lady deflected the inevitable question about whether she’d run for president by saying she hoped whoever ran would be able to “isolate the extreme voices” and allow the majority of people to be heard.

Michelle Obama to Host Designers at the White House

In her second term as First Lady,Michelle Obama's reign as American fashion royalty stays strong as she continues to support designers—this time by hosting a luncheon on Friday for the winners of the Hewitt National Design Awards. The event, which was conceived by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum to honor U.S. talent will take place at the White House. Top names expected in attendance include Tim Gunn, award-winner Behnaz Sarafpour, and jurors Isabel and Ruben Toledo. Twelve aspiring high-school designers from NYC and Washington, D.C., were also invited as part of the Teen Design Fair, sponsored by Target.

"It takes a village to design the future and it all starts here with these students—they will help to invent our future," Ruben Toledo told WWD of the project.

We're super jealous of those teens (who will earn serious bragging rights for the lunch table), and we wish we could high five Mrs. Obama for making sure American glamour in the White House carries on.

Pelosi Won’t Support First Amendment Rights Of Catholic Hospital In Her District

pelosi
(CNSNews.com) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who is Catholic, indicated on Friday that she supports forcing St. Mary’s Medical Center, the oldest continuously operating hospital in her San Francisco-based congressional district, to provide health plans to its workers that cover sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs free of charge even though the Catholic faith says this Catholic hospital may not do so because these things are intrinsically immoral.
"We are committed to furthering the healing ministry of Jesus," says the hospital's mission statement.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius--who, like Pelosi, is Catholic--issued the sterilization-contraception-abortifacient mandate as a regulation under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, AKA Obamacare.
The Catholic bishops of the United States have repeatedly argued, including in numerous lawsuits, that the regulation violates the First-Amendment-guaranteed right to the free exercise of religion by Catholics and Catholic institutions.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama touted the regulation in many stump speeches during the recent campaign, saying that health plans would now be required to provide women with cost-free contraception.
The Catholic bishops of the United States unanimously endorsed a statement in June declaring the regulation an "unjust and illegal mandate." Many of the bishops had letters read to parishioners at Sunday Masses saying of the regulation: "We cannot--we will not--comply with this unjust law."
Bill Cox, head of the health care alliance that oversees St. Mary's, said the mandate is an "egregious encroachment by the federal government on the constitutionally protected authority of the church."
At the Capitol on Friday, CNSNews.com asked Pelosi: “Should St. Mary’s hospital, which is a Catholic institution in San Francisco, should it be required by the administration to provide its workers with a health plan that covers sterilization and contraception and abortifacients and [other] things that it disagrees with?”
Pelosi said, “I support the action taken by the president--the compromise, I think, is a reasonable one.”
