Time for American Taxpayers to revolt

This was the horrible week in which millions of Americans paid their taxes to the ever increasing and intrusive federal government. This year, the tax burden has grown with Tax Freedom Day appearing on April 24, meaning that Americans will spend approximately one third of the year working for government before they can provide for their families.

Taxes are certainly oppressive in this country. Compared to last year, tax revenue increased 4.3% to $1.478 trillion in the first 6½ months of the 2015 fiscal year. Even worse, the insatiable federal government continues to spend money with reckless abandon.  Through April 1 of this year, the budget deficit was an astounding $439 billion, a significant increase from 2014.

Not only are taxes and deficits increasing, but the actual size of the federal tax code is exploding. When the income tax was created in 1913, the tax code was only 400 pages. It increased to 26,000 pages by 1984 and has tripled in size in the last 30 years. Since the implementation of Obamacare in 2010, the federal tax code has increased another 3,300 pages, resulting in more rules and regulations for Americans to decipher. Today, the federal tax code is over 74,000 pages of bureaucratic nonsense, making it impossible for the average American to complete their own tax return. It is no surprise that 94% of Americans need professional assistance in finishing their tax return.

Ben Affleck Demanded PBS Suppress His Slave-Owning Ancestry

While participating in the 2014 PBS genealogy series Finding Your RootsBen Affleck learned that he had an ancestor who owned slaves. While participating in the 2014 PBS genealogy series Finding Your RootsBen Affleck learned that he had an ancestor who owned slaves. Hacked Sony emails, posted publicly by WikiLeaks this week, show that the famed actor openly attempted to prevent the information from making it into the show’s final cut.
Gawker pointed out on Saturday morning that a July 2014 email chain between PBS host Prof.Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton show the pair cryptically conversing over the peculiar production request from a big name like Affleck.
Let’s go to the email chain. First Gates mentions a suppression request from a certain “megastar” (emphasis added):
Lynton responds that the situation is “tricky,” but that he suggests removing the fact if “no one else knows” and the show can get away with it (emphasis added again):
The pair then went back and forth about whether it’s worth compromising for “Batman,” and how it could hurt the brand to not give in to his request:
Affleck’s episode aired on October 14, 2014, and did not include anything about a slave-owning ancestor.

[VIDEO] Obama Warns U.S.: ‘Climate Change Poses Immediate Risks to Our National Security’

CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama warned the American people in his weekly address today that “there’s no greater threat” than climate change and that it “poses immediate risks to our national security.”
He said Americans need to work against climate change because “it’s about protecting our God-given natural wonders.”
“Wednesday is Earth Day, a day to appreciate and protect this precious planet we call home,” said Obama. “And today, there’s no greater threat to our planet than climate change.”

“This winter was cold in parts of our country--as some folks in Congress like to point out--but around the world, it was the warmest ever recorded,” said Obama.
“And the fact that the climate is changing has very serious implications for the way we live now.  Stronger storms.  Deeper droughts.  Longer wildfire seasons,” he said. “The world’s top climate scientists are warning us that a changing climate already affects the air our kids breathe. Last week, the Surgeon General and I spoke with public experts about how climate change is already affecting patients across the country. The Pentagon says that climate change poses immediate risks to our national security.”

Cruz: If Terrorists Attacked A Golf Course ‘That Would Get The White House’s Attention’

U.S. Senator Cruz speaks at Morningside College in Sioux CityNASHUA, N.H. — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Republican presidential candidate, took a jab at President Barack Obama Saturday for not attending the march in France against radical Islamic terrorism when he gave remarks at the First in the Nation Republican Leadership Summit.
“And we all remember just a few months ago seeing over 40 world leaders walking arm and arm in solidarity with France against radical Islamic terrorism and where oh where oh where was the United States of America? You know, if only the terrorists attacked a golf course. That might actually get the White House’s attention. ‘Holy cow! This is serious!'” Cruz said.
The march in France happened after two masked gunmen opened fire and killed 12 people and injured 11 others at the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

RUBIO IN NH: 2016 WILL BE A REFERENDUM ON OUR IDENTITY AS A NATION

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) enjoyed a warm reception at the New Hampshire Republican Leadership Summit. He built on the theme of optimism for America’s future that he spoke of in his presidential announcement speech, and he added some sharp criticism of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy.
Photo Apr 17, 7 12 59 PMRubio started by noting that it had been a “fascinating week, probably the most historic of my life,” and then shifted into a bit of a stand up routine that seemed well-received. A reporter had asked whether Rubio thought that 43 was “old enough to be president.” Rubio’s reply: “I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure 44 is,” which is how old he will turn on his birthday this May. The Constitution only requires that the President be at least 35 years old, and our youngest President, John F. Kennedy, was 43 when he was sworn into office in 1961.
Rubio also joked that he had “worn more wires than an FBI informant” this week, due to all the media interviews. Regarding Hillary Clinton’s rumored plan to raise $2.5 billion for her campaign, Rubio quipped, “that’s a lot of Chipotle, my friends.”
Taking a more serious tone, Rubio said that running for President was “a decision one makes after a lot of thought and prayer.”
“I believe with all my heart that we are on the verge of another American century,” he continued, echoing the “New American Century” theme of his campaign. “Throughout all of human history, you could only go as far as your parents went before you,” said Rubio, but in America, we did not have such limits.
Rubio then spoke about his family, about how both of his parents had been born poor in Cuba, where “they found themselves in a society that told them…there are things you just cannot do because of who you are and where you come from.”
After coming to America, the Rubios found jobs, were able to raise their four children, own their own home, save for retirement, and leave their children better off. “They were never rich, never famous, but they were successful,” said Rubio, meaning that his parents had achieved the American dream.
However, said Rubio, today that American dream is in doubt for millions of Americans. “Why is this happening to the greatest country in human history?” he asked. The answer, according to Rubio: too many leaders stuck in the past. All was not lost, though, and “our future has the opportunity to be better than our history,” if America finds away to adapt to the twenty-first century.
America is “engaged in a global competition” for investment and talent, said Rubio, and is being held back by regulations that are crushing innovation, an excessive corporate tax rate, businesses that are not growing because of Obamacare, and energy policies that are blocking us from using our natural resources.

Obama’s Executive Amnesty Appears To Be In Trouble In The Fifth Circuit Court

Good news: The President’s recent action on immigration is still running into resistance in the courts.
On Friday, attorneys for the Obama administration argued before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. They were asking for a stay of a lower court judge’s ruling preventing the administration from moving forward with its executive amnesty designs.
It does not appear that they are going to win.
The three-judge panel consisted of two Republican appointees and one Democratic appointee. That’s a problem for President Obama because Republican-appointed judges tend to take the Constitution seriously.
One of the two Republican-appointed justices used Obama’s own statements against a Justice Department lawyer.
The sole Democratic appointee on the court noted that the President’s actions could discourage illegal immigrants from applying for programs that offer them work permits.
It looks like it’s going to be 2-1 in favor of the good guys when everything is said and done here.
The Constitutional principle of separation of powers survives for at least another day, the objections of the President notwithstanding.

Fiat CEO On Gov’t Mandated Electric Cars: Please Don’t Buy Our Electric Vehicle, “Every Time I Sell One It Costs Me $14,000″…

May 21 (Reuters) - Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne has a request for potential buyers of the automaker's Fiat 500e electric car: Don't buy it. He's tired of losing money.
Speaking at a conference in Washington on Wednesday, Marchionne said Tesla Motors Inc was the only company making money on electric cars and that was because of the higher price point for its Model S sedan. Decrying the federal and state mandates that push manufacturers to build electric cars, Marchionne said he hoped to sell the minimum number of 500e cars possible.
"I hope you don't buy it because every time I sell one it costs me $14,000," he said to the audience at the Brookings Institution about the 500e. "I'm honest enough to tell you that."
The gasoline-powered Fiat 500 starts at almost $17,300 including delivery charges, while the 500e starts at $32,650 before federal tax credits. Consumers are not willing to pay a price that covers Fiat's costs so it loses money on the 500e.
Through April, the automaker sold 11,514 of the 500 cars in the United States this year, down about 15 percent from the same period last year. The company does not break out 500e sales.
"I will sell the (minimum) of what I need to sell and not one more," Marchionne said of the 500e.

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and received a U.S taxpayer-funded bailout. Italy's Fiat took over the U.S. automaker at the time and completed the buyout earlier this year.

Democrat-Led Colorado Backs Lawsuit Calling Obamacare Unconstitutional

A man looks over the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) signup page on the HealthCare.gov website in New York in this October 2, 2013 photo illustration. REUTERS/Mike SegarColorado has become the 20th state to support a federal lawsuit filed last week by a Texas doctor to overturn the Affordable Care Act.
It’s only the third state with a Democratic governor to do so.
Colorado Attorney General John Suthers, a Republican, signed onto an amicus brief last week, showing support for the effort to overturn the law based on the U.S. Constitution’s Origination Clause, which says that all bills that raise revenue must begin in the Senate.
Obamacare, the suit contends, began in the House of Representatives.
“If the Origination Clause means anything, it must mean that the ACA is unconstitutional,” the brief reads, as reported by the Colorado Observer.
But exactly where the controversial law began is itself a point of controversy. The Observer notes that the U.S. Justice Department contends that it did indeed begin in the House, originally as H.R. 3590, which was concerned with housing tax credits for veterans. Once in the Senate, however, Obamacare opponents say its language was entirely stripped and replaced with what became the ACA.
“By a voice vote of 416-0, the House passed the bill on October 8, 2009, and the enrolled version was eight pages long,” the brief reads. “About one month later, on November 19, 2009, the Senate struck every single word of H.R. 3590, deleted any reference to members of the military or home-ownership tax breaks, and substituted a 2,074-page ‘amendment’ that we now know as the ACA.”
Pacific Legal Foundation is also challenging the law based on an Origination Clause argument in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the penalty for not signing up for health care under the new law is considered to be a tax.

Dem Mayor of One of Massachusetts Largest Cities Declares They Will Now Be A Sanctuary City For Illegal Aliens…

  • Under an executive order from Mayor Joe Curtatone, Somerville will no longer fully participate in a federal immigrant detention program.
    • Page 2 of 3 - In an email statement, he told the Journal ending ICE detainers that happen without probable cause is moral, responsible and just common sense.
“These are our neighbors and they should not be afraid to report a crime or afraid that they could be separated from their families and deported simply because they get stopped for having a broken tail light,” Curtatone said. He added, “We can’t keep our communities safe unless we have the full cooperation of the full community.”
Acting Police Chief Charles Femino agreed.
“In essence, what Secure Communities has done is built a wall between police and the community,” Femino said. He added, “We want to continue to partner with the federal government, but we want to do it in a fair way that’s equal to all citizens.

The Insiders: More Obamacare enrollees doesn’t mean more success for the Democrats

The problems with Obamacare have moved off the front page recently, which is exactly what the Democrats have wanted to happen. They want to celebrate the “victory” of Obamacare by championing the alleged 8 million sign-ups, answering few questions and moving on.
But the political infection that is Obamacare is thriving in the body politic.
A new Politico poll shows that 48 percent of Americans support a full repeal of the law, 35 percent want to at least modify the law – and only 16 percent think it should be left as it is.
I have always said that the Democrats would get the headline enrollment numbers they wanted. They have the IRS for enforcement, and people need to buy insurance anyway – especially when their plans are canceled thanks to Obamacare. But this doesn’t mean that Americans are happy about what they are being forced to buy. Byron York reminds us that “Democrats, in their euphoria over the ‘8 million’ sign-ups to Obamacare, made a mistake in concluding that signups equal approval.” Signing up for Obamacare is only the beginning of a host of problems that will end up costing the Democrats at the ballot box in November.
Americans will face three big problems with Obamacare in the months to come:
First, voters will find that their provider networks are severely restricted. They won’t be able to keep their doctors, because Obamacare limits choices. Second, voters will find that the convenient provider facilities they want to visit for their health care may also be outside their network. They may not be able to visit the hospital down the street or the one they have used all their lives because again, Obamacare forces limits to be placed on what facilities you can use. And third, voters will find that their premiums are higher, and in many cases, that their deductibles are much higher than they were before Obamacare.
In other words, Americans are paying more and getting less under Obamacare. This is classic Democratic governance. Part of the reason that Democrats can’t govern effectively is because they over-promise and under-deliver.
Anyway, as we get closer to the midterm elections, the problems with the law are only going to get worse, for the reasons I have listed above. More Obamacare enrollees doesn’t mean more success for Democrats; it means the opposite because there will be more dissatisfied voters.  Democrats will try to tell voters to move on, but Republicans need to continue talking about the disaster that is Obamacare and about what they would do differently. Obamacare is still what will anchor the GOP case in the fall.
