[VIDEO] CBS and NBC Fail to Cover IRS Data Breach, Feds Approving Drilling in the Arctic

In Monday evening’s edition of network bias by omission, CBS and NBC neglected to stories concerning a data breach of American taxpayers at the scandal-ridden IRS and the Obama administration finally giving approval for a major oil company to begin oil drilling in the Arctic off Alaska’s coast. Surprisingly, ABC’s World News Tonight picked up the pieces and provided their viewers with coverage of a full segment on the IRS breach and a brief on the future of drilling in the Arctic.

On the subject of the IRS, anchor David Muir described the information as “a troubling new development in the case of computer hacking at the IRS” as “far more taxpayers’ documents could have been compromised than we first knew.”
Speaking with Muir, senior Justice correspondent Pierre Thomas reported that “three times as many taxpayers [were] affected” as “[t]he number jump[ed] from 114,000 identified in May to roughly 334,000 possibly targeted.”
Thomas further explained in the time remaining how the information that the IRS has on Americans includes their salary, address, and date of birth to name a few that all could easily enable thieves to “assume your identity” and make hundreds of thousands of people victims of identity theft.
While Telemundo kept their viewers in the dark on this story, Univision’s Noticiero Univision had an 18-second news brief from co-anchor Jorge Ramos on the data breach and the growing number of Americans potentially affected.
Concerning the oil drilling, Muir dedicated a 14-second brief to the long-awaited decision by the Obama administration:
Tonight, oil drilling set to begin again in the Arctic Ocean. The U.S. government giving Royal Dutch Shell the final permit to drill off Alaska’s northwest coast. The first drilling there in more two decades. Shell bringing in special equipment to comply with environmental regulations.
On the Spanish-language network front, Telemundo and Univision ignored it while the PBS NewsHour and FNC’s Special Report joined ABC in covering this development regarding the future of drilling in the Arctic.
Instead of mentioning either one of these stories, CBS Evening News fill-in anchor Charlie Rose promoted viral video of a dump truck driver in Saudi Arabia driving with the container up when it crashed into a highway sign.

O'Malley wants to debate Clinton on Wall Street, trade, XL pipeline

O'Malley wants to debate Clinton on Wall Street, trade, XL pipeline | Washington Examiner
Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley wants a debate with Hillary Clinton so that he can get the Democratic front-runner to commit to positions on Wall Street, trade, and the Keystone XL pipeline.
"I would ask Hillary Clinton what sort of ideas she has to make our economy work again for all of us and whether or not she has the independence to rein in the sort of recklessness on Wall Street that has tanked our economy once and threatens to do it again," the former Maryland governor and Democratic presidential candidate said Sunday morning on CBS.
O'Malley, who has strenuously argued for more debates in the Democratic primary, went on to recite a list of issues on which he has staked out a position and Clinton has hedged her responses.
"I am in favor of re-instituting Glass-Steagall," he said of the Depression-Era separation of commercial and investment banks. "I am in favor of putting robust prosecutorial efforts back on Wall Street."

Police In Riot Gear Clear Large Crowd Of Dirt Bikers In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A massive police response in the area Druid Hill Park on Sunday night where authorities attempted to disperse hundreds of dirt bikers.
WJZ’s Amy Yensi has the latest.
Baltimore police dressed in riot gear lined Reisterstown Road in northwest Baltimore as dirt bikers—posing a risk to drivers and bystanders–scoured the streets.
“They impose a very immediate and extreme danger, to the community as they do not ordinarily follow traffic rules and regulations,” said Marc Partee, Commander North West District.
The situation quickly escalates and extra officers are brought in to handle the growing threat.
Police say people begin pelting officers with rocks and objects as authorities demand the crowd to break up and leave the area.
Eventually, some begin to follow orders, but police say this is a problem they deal with every weekend.
“This is not a sport, this is not fun, and it continues to drain my resources and the individuals that actually live in the community are not happy with it all,” Partee said.
No one was injured or arrested Sunday night.
Police say one dirt bike was seized.
According to authorities, a majority of these dirt bikes are stolen and encourage people to report them when spotted.

Nets Covered Cecil the Lion More in 1 Day Than Abortion Videos in 2 Weeks

America’s anchors have spoken: the shooting of one lion vastly outweighs the trafficking of baby parts by a taxpayer-funded abortion giant.

In other words, the broadcast news shows spent more time in one day on Cecil the Lion than they did on the Planned Parenthood videos in two weeks.

The three broadcast networks, ABC, NBC and CBS censored the third video released Tuesday by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) exposing Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting aborted baby parts -- censored it at Planned Parenthood’s urging. But the news shows did find more than 14 minutes for a more important story: the “outrage” over the shooting of Cecil, a famed African lion, by an American dentist.

Tuesday, the networks spent 5 minutes, 44 seconds during their evening news shows on Cecil -- and that’s not even counting the teasers. Wednesday morning, ABC, NBC and CBS lamented over the lion for 8 minutes, 17 seconds. But they couldn’t do the same for a story of babies “picked” apart by tweezers. -

On July 29, Good Morning America co-anchor Lara Spencer highlighted the “very disturbing story” with “international outrage” before turning to ABC correspondent David Wright for the full story on the lion-shooting by an American, now, according to Wright, “pretty much the most hated man on the internet.”

“There are no words,” Spencer added at the end of the segment. Again, we’re talking about a lion. For CBS’ This Morning, co-anchor Gayle King commented, “The more you hear about it, the more upsetting it is.” For the shooting of a lion, yes. For the weekly videos exposing the trafficking of baby parts, no. (According to the media, that is.). “I heard somebody in South Africa describe it

,” King added. “It would be like in this country, if somebody shot Lassie, and then said, ‘We didn’t know that was Lassie.’”

[VIDEO] CBS This Morning Presses De Blasio from Left on Uber, Economy

Liberal New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio sat down for a friendly interview on Thursday’s CBS This Morning and the three hosts repeatedly pushed him from the left on a variety of issues ranging from his fight with Uber to his relationship with Pope Francis on climate change and income inequality

.  The majority of the interview focused on de Blasio’s ongoing fight with ride sharing company Uber, and his efforts to regulate it like taxis and CBS’s Charlie Rose complained ”it seems like Uber whenever it's challenged simply gets its way in the end.”

After the New York major whined that Uber was allegedly contributing to congestion and pollution throughout the city which, in his view, demanded the city regulate the company, Norah O’Donnell wondered “why did you cave?” and allow Uber to expand.
Later in the segment, Rose touted de Blasio’s recent meeting with Pope Francis where the two discussed climate change and rather than press his guest on the liberal views the two share the CBS host merely asked de Blasio to “ [t]ell us about” the meeting.
After de Blasio called Pope Francis the “strongest moral voice in the world” Rose eagerly wondered “what is his impact on climate change?” and gave the New York City mayor another opportunity to tout his liberal views.Rose then pointed out how the pope “raised questions about income inequality...And, in fact, about capitalism per se.”
Nowhere in the segment did Rose or his CBS co-hosts bother to press de Blasio on his liberal views regarding climate change or “income inequality” and whether not his solutions would damage the economy. Instead, Rose wondered how the mayor could push Hillary Clinton far enough to the left in order to earn his endorsement:
So what does Hillary Clinton have to do to convince you to support her because that’s been one of the issue you say you’re waiting and seeing?
De Blasio stressed the need for liberal cities to provide mandatory paid sick leave and an raise their minimum wages which Rose found the perfect time to ask yet another lefty question: “Will there be $15 minimum wage in New York?”

The New York mayor argued that he was “working toward” a $15 minimum wage which prompted Norah O’Donnell to wonder “why not endorse Bernie Sanders?”
In the past, CBS This Morning has done its best to help tout the liberal agenda of de Blasio. During an appearance on May 20, the three hosts gave him an unchallenged platform as Charlie Rose declared him one of the “leaders of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.”

Dallas Man Robbed While Jogging Says Police Never Came

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Robbed at gunpoint while jogging in a Lake Highlands neighborhood in Dallas, residents are outraged over not only the crime but also the lack of response from Dallas police.
The victim, who does not want to be identified, said the robbery happened just before sunrise on Monday.
“I just heard a voice coming up from behind me saying, ‘Give me your iPhone, give me your iPhone!’ So I looked to my right and there a guy was point a gun in my face,” said the victim. “All I could think about was giving the guy whatever he wanted.”
But it was what happened right after being robbed that is bothering the victim and his neighbors even more.
Donald Wright, the victim’s neighbor, just happened to be drive by the scene and started calling 911 after hearing what happened.
After a call at 5:58 a.m., then at 6:21 a.m. and finally at almost 7:00 a.m., Wright and the victim said dispatch told them they had a shortage of patrol cars and the victim would have to come into the police station to report the crime.
“When I walked into the police station and said I needed to report an armed robbery, the guy was like, ‘What?’” said the victim. “I feel like when I was threatened with my life, it was a serious deal.”
Dallas police said it is reviewing call logs to figure out what happened and said officers are taking the incident very seriously.
“Of course I would have loved for them to catch them shortly after my incident. But unfortunately It didn’t happen. So hopefully they get quicker about responding,” said the victim.
Reports of the incident resulted in extra police presence in the area on Tuesday. Jogger Bozena Phillips likes to hit the trails with a friend. “I think it’s very important for everyone to be cautious every single day, because sometimes you know you’re in your ‘zone’ [and] you’re not paying attention to anything… what’s around and you’re tired,” he said. “So, its a good idea to always have like another person and look for each other.”
Just two miles away from where the victim was robbed, residents reported a similar crime where another jogger was also robbed at gunpoint — that incident happened minutes after the above victim was robbed. Police say the two cases appear to be connected and they are investigating.

SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL

What was worse: the treaty or the press conference?

It is a safe prediction that for years to come the debate over the Obama Iran deal will rage, with one question looming largest; namely, which was worse… the treaty or the press conference?

Actually, it was not a conference but what is known in Washington-speak as a “press availability.” This refers not to the press being available but to the President making himself available to the press and all its relentless scrutiny. For once Obama came through, making himself thoroughly available; all his specious sophistry, all his testy narcissism, all his Freudian solipsism, was on display. To coin a phrase, he had all his centrifuges spinning. And, as Jackie Mason would add, I say this with the highest respect.

In one contentious exchange, Major Garrett of CBS wondered how the President was “content” to leave American hostages trapped in Iran, basting in Hell while he basked in Heaven. Obama contended he was not the least bit content; why, he had even met with some of the families of the hostages!

This sort of non sequitur is terribly revealing. How could we suspect him of not caring when he even made time in his busy schedule to meet with relatives? Surely such intensive efforts will be attended with success, much as the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls saved the two hundred girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria? What’s that you say… they were never saved… don’t be ridiculous… we never read about them in the media anymore… they must have been saved!

A man who invests so much into the effort to free our hostages from Iran is just the sort of man we should trust to protect Israel from the threat of nuclear annihilation! Why won’t that right-wing kook Netanyahu quit all his fussing?

There were other juicy tidbits throughout the event. One in particular summed up for me the combination of poor traits that make up the portrait of our young President. Amid the press of the corps, one spunky voice emerged (I paraphrase): “Mr. President, does it disturb you that Prime Minister Assad of Syria and President Rouhani of Iran are making public statements to the effect this deal is a big victory for Iran?”

Obama replied: “It does not concern me that they are spinning the deal in their favor. That is what politicians do!” And he punched the “do” with some real fervor.

At least two very distorted beliefs are revealed in this exchange. The first is a crimp in the true part of the answer; the second stands separately as the false part of the answer. Sure, the answer is partially true. He is right not to be concerned about their spinning because they are liars and tyrants who would tell you they won even if everyone knew they lost, like the guy with blood on his hands and his DNA under the victim’s fingernails who says the jury should acquit because there is “no evidence.” But the way to make that point is by saying: “That is what liars do. That is what tyrants do.” They lie because they are liars, not because they are in a career that makes allowances for wishful interpretation.

So even when his point is valid, his presentation opens a dreary window into his world.
But the false part of his statement is doubly shocking, offensive, misleading, misguiding, corrupting. He tells us that a sitting President or Prime Minister may legitimately regard his role as being “a politician,” thus availing him of the leeway afforded to candidates for office. He may present his actions in matters of life and death to the public in the best possible light. That is what politicians do…

No way! Absolutely cringe-inducingly false!

A candidate is a politician. Once elected he is a governor. A politician may spin things, not to falsify but to magnify, to sell what he believes, to promote a sense of hope and optimism, to set an ideal to which he can aspire. This is a dispensation that must be managed discerningly, but at least it can be defended.

But to spin while in office?! Unconscionable. In office you are a governor, a leader, a representative of the people and every word out of your mouth must be the absolute truth or the closest you can approach it in good faith. The people, the ones who believed your hype, who bought your hope, have placed absolute faith in your judgment, your temperament, your character, your integrity. There is no room at all for manipulating the perceptions of events to create an illusion of success when it is not paralleled by reality.

Mister President, if you think lying to the people while in office is what “politicians do,” pardon us for not trusting you with our lives in negotiating arrangements with rabid haters out to kill us and destroy our way of life.

Woman Outraged After Showdown With Census Worker

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An East Dallas woman is outraged after she claims one U.S. Census workershowed up at her door for a housing survey and would not take “no” for an answer.
Sonia Platz said the worker went as far as to camp out in her yard as she waited for Platz to change her mind.
“She’s ringing the bell, knocking on the door. And I’m like, ‘I don’t want to participate.’” Said Platz
The East Dallas resident said it started with a series of three letters from the U.S. Census Bureau. A few days later after receiving the third later, a census worker showed up. Her husband verbally declined.

But a few days later, a different worker showed up at their home and would not leave according to Platz.
“That is a whole, other level. That’s not following up. I felt like she a part of the mob,” said Platz.
The census worker sat on the bumper of her van for the next 30 minutes. Sonia said the worker would only get up from the back of her van every few minutes to see if she had changed her mind about taking the housing survey.
“Some people were stunned. Some people couldn’t believe it. They were kind of shocked like, ‘that can’t be a true government census bureau worker,’” said Platz.
It was a real federal census worker according to the regional office that covers Dallas. A supervisor confirmed more than 100 other workers are out in the area conducting the same work. The regional office said employees are encouraged to be “pleasantly persistent” and never take “no” for an answer at first.
Platz said it is not a good look for a government agency that survives on voluntary participation.
The U.S. Census Bureau said anyone who feels they are being visited too frequently can request to have their address removed from the list.

Dallas is one of 25 cities targeted in the housing survey which runs through August.

Warner Bros. Halts Production Of ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ General Lee Car Toys

Now, the memorable 1969 red-orange Dodge Charger known as the “General Lee” from the CBS program “The Dukes of Hazzard” is getting the boot. The show, which ran from 1979 to 1985, revolved around two cousins, Bo and Luke Duke of Hazzard County, Georgia and their car.
1

Warner Brothers announced Tuesday it would stop producing merchandise associated with the Confederate flag-adorned car from the show known for chase scenes and incredible jumps as the horn played the first few notes of “Dixie.”
What do you think?

Jessica Simpson arrives at the Los Angeles premiere of "The Dukes of Hazzard" in Hollywood.During the show’s run, the car was the program’s main attraction for many viewers and even made a return in 2005, when “The Dukes of Hazzard” made it on to the big screen with actor Johnny Knoxville.
Fans of the car itself are also facing backlash. A New York Police Department cop who drives a replica of the show’s famous vehicle to work from time to time was told by supervisors to not park it at the Washington Heights precinct any longer, the local CBS affiliate reported.
What do you think?

“I would feel uncomfortable driving that,” one resident told CBS. “If I was a cop, I would feel very uncomfortable.”
What do you think?

“It doesn’t bother me either way, it really doesn’t,” a woman said.
What do you think?

NASCAR banned the use of the General Lee at events three years ago citing concerns over the car’s Confederate flag painted roof.
What do you think?

“Dukes of Hazzard” TV star and former Georgia Democratic Rep. Ben Jones, who played “Cooter” on the show told Fox News at the time, “It’s political correctness run amuck and I’m outraged.” He added, “It’s an insult to the heartland of America. (NASCAR) did this to please some board member who had some pressure put on him by some political group somewhere.”

[COMMENTARY] Bowing to the Big Lie of Bruce Jenner by L. Brent Bozell III and Tim Graham

The story of Bruce Jenner declaring against human reality that he's a woman was already a tired old story, exhausted last month in a one-hour prime-time ABC "news" special. But that's not how the grand pooh-bahs of our news and entertainment media see it.

They can't get enough. Deconstruction is a tonic. And so the Kardashian-Jenner Inc. rollout continues, a perfect combination of shameless TV hucksterism and a leftist revolt against the old-fashioned notion of natural humanity. How yesterday.

We know — everyone knows — Vanity Fair rolled out a new cover of Bruce Jenner gaudily underdressed as a woman with the headline "Call Me Caitlyn." Not a cover story, mind you, just a cover image. The media went bananas. ABC, CBS and NBC offered more than 48 minutes of coverage in two days, as if Jenner was now the Queen of America.

ISIS. The 2016 campaign. Hillary's scandals. The crashing economy. Who the hell cares about that?

It would be shocking if anywhere in that 48-plus minutes of enthusiasm there was one discouraging word of dissent. Fawning is mandatory, dissent forbidden. Babbling morning hosts cooed over the Internet "buzz" (which they were fueling). Somehow they forgot to mention that a hefty portion of it expressed sadness, disgust and outrage at all the pandering.

So the Big Lie is a big hit. The emperor wears women's clothes, and everyone must bow and praise the beautiful rollout. GLAAD will destroy anyone who fails to be re-educated.

CBS's Moonves expects deal with Apple on TV

Les Moonves at the 2015 Code Conference.
Asa Mathat | Re/Code
Les Moonves at the 2015 Code Conference.
CBS is in talks with Apple about offering content on Apple's revamped TV offering, CBS CEO Les Moonves said Wednesday.
When asked whether he would consider a deal with Apple—which is working to update its Apple TV product—Moonves said he "probably" would.
What would it take? "Money."
Moonves said discussions were ongoing with Apple, and recently met with Eddy Cue, the company's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.
Moonves' comments came at the second annual Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
"Apple TV is trying to change the universe a little bit as did Sling as is Sony," he said.
What Apple will offer is "a more select group at a lower price. Any one of those groups will need CBS. We have the NFL, which is must have television. Any of those bundles we will be a part of that and we should get a better proportion of the share of that universe than we currently do on cable," he said.
Despite the rapid growth in non-traditional media, and the rise of a generation that thinks of on-demand television as normal, Moonves said he isn't terribly worried about digital and streaming media
Seventy percent or more of people who watch television do so while the show is being broadcast, and the average American still watches 5 hours of television a day, he said.
And, at least for now, network television remains a primary cultural institution in American life.
"For every Chelsea Handler who doesn't want to be on network television, I have a Steve Colbert who does," he said. "I think I've won."

Limbaugh: American Left Has Made Christianity Its No. 1 Enemy

Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show on Wednesday that the American Left has made Christianity its "number one enemy." Limbaugh made the observation and explained it after playing an interview of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) by David Brody of CBN. In that interview Rubio suggested that mainstream Christian teaching was under assault from the left.
“You think Rubio's got a point there?" asked Rush. "You better not sweep this one away. You better not think this one was a little over the top. He is right on the money. This is exact. In fact, I would even go further. I think mainstream Christianity is the target, and has been for I can’t tell you how long. And before I was born, it's been, Christianity has been the biggest enemy of the American left, or any left – organized religion in general – but Christianity is the number one enemy of these people.”
“You notice, they’ve made friends with militant Islam,” Rush went on. “The left will not stand for any criticism of Islam, right? You start drawing cartoons of the prophet, they’re the first to jump on your case, right? Democrats and the left, they're out condemning any criticism of Islam."
“They’ve sided up, why?” asks Rush. “Well, Islam has an enemy. In their mind, their enemy is Christianity. So there’s a commonality there. And I don’t care. Folks, maybe this is just another one of those things you’re just not supposed to say, but I’m sorry. It’s undeniable.”
“Okay. Okay. Tell me I’m wrong,” urges Rush, “when I say that the left has formed an accord with Islam. Tell me I’m wrong.”
"Militant Islam says you can't draw pictures of the prophet," says Rush. "Democrat Party, you can't draw pictures of the prophet. You can't criticize Islam. And they go out of their way not to. We can't call them terrorists. You know the drill."
“Christianity it’s open season,” says Rush. “You can say anything. You can do anything. You can mock anything. And Christians are just supposed to take it. And the reason we’re just supposed to take it is we’re the majority. The majority just has to understand, minorities feel offended. They’re going to always be hit on, ripped apart and so forth. You just have to take it. It’s part of being a majority. And that is a relevant factor. I mean, majorities are hated by the people in the minority.”
“The problem for us is,” states Rush, “that the minorities we’re talking about here, most of them are really tiny, and yet they’re winning. They’re bullying their way around. It’s incredible. And Marco Rubio, here, is right on the money.”
