UNC’s ‘Literature Of 9/11’ Course Sympathizes With Terrorists, Paints U.S. As Imperialistic

None of the assigned readings view attacks from perspective of Sept. 11 victims’ families.
None of the assigned readings view attacks from perspective of Sept. 11 victims’ families
An English class offered at UNC Chapel Hill this fall called “Literature of 9/11” explores the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks from the perspective of radical Islamists and those who view America as an imperialist nation.
The reading assignments for the class, which includes poems, memoirs and graphic novels, present terrorists in a sympathetic light and American political leaders as greedy, war hungry and corrupt, according to a review by The College Fix.
The readings mostly focus on justifying the actions of terrorists – painting them as fighting against an American regime, or mistaken idealists, or good people just trying to do what they deem right. None of the readings assigned in the freshman seminar present the Sept. 11 attacks from the perspective of those who died or from American families who lost loved ones.

[VIDEO] Some 'Terrorists': For Mrs. Clinton, the Beheaders Are the Victims

So infectious is the boobery of the moment that the vector of contagion has penetrated even the high tower walls behind which dwells Hillary Rodham Clinton, into whose weedy enchanted kingdom few are admitted except discreet deliverymen with the usual weekly bulk shipments of eye-of-newt and toe-of-frog supplements. Herself frequently is banal, insipid, poorly informed, glib, contemptible, and almost always boring, but she’s usually not much of a genuine bomb-thrower, until she accuses her opponents of being genuine bomb-throwers, i.e., declaring that those in the pro-life camp who object to the vivisection of living human beings for commercial purposes are soul mates with “terrorists.”

Obama Admin Sending Terror Suspects To Counseling

An image grab taken from an AFPTV video on September 16, 2014 shows a jihadist from the Islamic State (IS) group standing on the rubble of houses after a Syrian warplane was reportedly shot down by IS militants over the Syrian town of Raqa. (AFP/Getty Images)
The FBI is now referring some potential terror suspects to counseling in a new strategy to defeat homegrown Islamic State supporters.
Rather than lock up everyone in the U.S. suspected of potential terrorist activity, the FBI will refer up to 10 percent of the thousands of people under investigation to counseling, reported The Wall Street Journal.
Proponents of the plan told TheWSJ it will ease the FBI’s investigative burden, and provide a possible “off ramp” from radicalization for some of the thousands of people in the U.S. interested in ISIS, especially minors. (RELATED: FBI Busts Alleged Homegrown Jihadi Ring In Minnesota)
“Nobody wants to see a 15-year-old kid go to jail if they don’t have to,” an official working on the new plan told TheWSJ, adding that the FBI will continue monitoring potential suspects referred to counseling and stand ready to arrest them.
Some inside federal law enforcement are pushing back against the plan, because of the potentially deadly consequences of misjudging potential suspects.
“I get the principle,” former FBI counterterrorism agent Peter Ahearn told TheWSJ. “But there are a lot of potential problems with this, and I think it’s a wrong move.”
A Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman told TheWSJ it works closely with the FBI and believes “successful interventions will be ones conducted with the appropriate participation of community leaders, educators, mental health professionals, religious leaders, parents, peers and law enforcement, depending on the specific circumstances.”
DHS is marketing citizenship to immigrants as part of its strategy to fight homegrown terror, betting potential access to shared citizenship rights will dissuade people from linking up with ISIS. (RELATED: Boston Partners With The Feds To Market Citizenship To Illegals)

The First Half of 2015 Was Most Intense Period of Terrorist Plotting Since 9/11

I hate to roust you from your well-deserved summer snooze, but I continue to get a sinking feeling about the threat of the Islamic State (aka ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) here in the homeland.
Understandably reluctant to lift your head from the hammock in the heat, you ask, “Why?”
Well, pass me your beach shovel and I’ll scribble some statistics here in the sand while you wipe the “sleepies” from your eyes induced by too many lobster rolls and fried clams.
First, we’ve now had nine—count ’em, nine—terrorist plots this year here in the United States, making the first nearly-six months of 2015 the most intense period of terrorist plotting since 9/11.
That’s not comforting.
To put it into context, by our count at The Heritage Foundation, we’ve had 71 Islamist plots or attacks here in the United States in the nearly 14 years since Sept. 11, 2001, including the Fort Hood shooting and the Boston Marathon bombing.
Beyond the unprecedented number of plots so far this year, there’s another troubling trend.
It turns out that all of the plots in 2015 so far have had ties to the Islamic State of seemingly distant Iraq and Syria, whether the plotters’ ties be direct (recruited by ISIS) or indirect (inspired by ISIS).
Moreover, FBI Director James Comey said in February that his agency is investigating Islamic State-related cases in all 50 states, noting the power and pull of ISIS propaganda. This number of cases is still being referred to months later.
So it’s not surprising that the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., told CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday: “We face the highest threat level we have ever faced in this country today … including after 9/11.”
That’s chilling coming from someone clearly in the know.
Fortunately, the national and local law enforcement, homeland security and intelligence communities have done a terrific job in preventing these cold, killing conspiracies from becoming reality.
The down side is that if they don’t continue to “bat a thousand” as they’ve done so far this year—which in any endeavor is tough—we’ve got a problem, especially with an iconic American holiday like the Fourth of July coming up.
Maintaining that record of success against ISIS is not going to be easy.
Besides the rampant use of social media, the bad guys are upping their cyber game, using publicly-available encryption found on the Internet to chit-chat in complete privacy, according to news accounts.
The terrorists are also reportedly hiding their computer IP addresses to mask their identities and moving over to the so-called “dark web”—a “cyber commons” that lots of bad actors call home.
And so on.

[VIDEO] 2 'homegrown' jihadists nabbed in California on way to join ISIS, say officials

Two California men described as "homegrown violent extremists"were due in federal court Friday after they were arrested late Thursday while in the process of heading overseas to join ISIS, authorities said.
Muhanad Badawi and Nader Elhuzayel, both 24 and of Anaheim, were nabbed by the Orange County Joint Terrorism Task Force, Elhuzayel at Los Angeles International Airport and Badawi in Orange County. The task force includes officials from the FBI, Anaheim Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. A senior law enforcement official told Fox News the arrests were “related” to national security, but that the public were never in danger.
Prosecutors charged the men with conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State group.
Both men were described as "homegrown violent extremists" who were heading overseas, according to two sources who spoke to the Los Angeles Times. The suspects are due in federal court in Santa Ana Friday.
According to the complaint, Badawi and Elhuzayel used social media to discuss terrorist attacks and expressed a desire to die as martyrs.
According to the complaint, Elhuzayel asked Badawi "can you imagine when Al Qaeda joins with Islamic State?" to which Badawi allegedly responded: "we will be huge."

Exclusive: US May Have Let 'Dozens' of Terrorists Into Country As Refugees

PHOTO: Authorities said al Qaeda operatives living as refugees in Kentucky were caught on FBI spy-cams with weapons they thought were to be shipped to other Iraq insurgents.Several dozen suspected terrorist bombmakers, including some believed to have targeted American troops, may have mistakenly been allowed to move to the United States as war refugees, according to FBI agents investigating the remnants of roadside bombs recovered from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The discovery in 2009 of two al Qaeda-Iraq terrorists living as refugees in Bowling Green, Kentucky -- who later admitted in court that they'd attacked U.S. soldiers in Iraq -- prompted the bureau to assign hundreds of specialists to an around-the-clock effort aimed at checking its archive of 100,000 improvised explosive devices collected in the war zones, known as IEDs, for other suspected terrorists' fingerprints.
"We are currently supporting dozens of current counter-terrorism investigations like that," FBI Agent Gregory Carl, director of the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC), said in an ABC News interview to be broadcast tonight on ABC News' "World News with Diane Sawyer" and "Nightline".
"I wouldn't be surprised if there were many more than that," said House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul. "And these are trained terrorists in the art of bombmaking that are inside the United States; and quite frankly, from a homeland security perspective, that really concerns me."
As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets. One Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays, two U.S. officials said. In 2011, fewer than 10,000 Iraqis were resettled as refugees in the U.S., half the number from the year before, State Department statistics show.

Profs: Fox News viewers are ignorant, conservatives are terrorists

Students in college classrooms around the country are accustomed to hearing from their professors that conservative ideas are the cause of the country’s woes. But the three-week government shutdown incited some especially colorful commentary from liberal teachers.
Amy Rosemond, an ecology professor at the University of Georgia, called House Republicans “terrorists” who were holding the government hostage.
In an interview with Campus Reform, Rosemond expressed regret for using the word “terrorist,” but said her point was still valid.
While Rosemond’s comments came during a rally she organized outside of Georgia Republican Rep. Paul Broun’s office, not all liberal professors kept their views outside the classroom.
Pat Willerton, an associate professor of politics at the University of Arizona, told his class that Republicans had single-handedly caused the shutdown, and were only in control of the House of Representatives because they had used gerrymandering to rig the elections.
Willerton regularly launches tirades against Republicans before class begins, according to The College Fix.
“It’s maddening,” said one of his students, in a statement to The College Fix. “No one in the class challenges his ideas or questions what he has to say, which is what I find the most discouraging.”
The university disagreed with the student, and stood by its professor.

Pilots union warns of 'dry run' by possible terrorists on US flight

airportscreen.jpgSecurity experts for a major airline's pilot's union have warned members that potential terrorists conducted apparent "dry runs" aboard domestic flights in recent weeks, and urged flight crews not to be pressured into taking to the skies if they are fearful.
A memo from the U.S. Airline Pilots Association, which represents more than 5,000 pilots who fly for US Airways, cites "several cases recently throughout the (airline) industry of what appear to be probes, or dry runs, to test our procedures and reaction to an in-flight threat."
"Bringing down an airliner continues to be the Gold Standard of terrorism," states the undated memo, first reported by WTSP-TV in Tampa-St. Petersburg. "If anyone thinks that our enemies have “been there, done that” and are not targeting U.S. commercial aviation -- think again."

On a Sept. 2 flight from Reagan National Airport in Washington to Orlando, a "Middle Eastern" man rose from his seat and sprinted toward the cockpit, before veering sharply to go into the forward restroom, according to the memo. While he was in there, sever other men moved about the cabin, changing seats and going into overhead bins, it says.
US Airways and the Transportation Security Administration confirmed the incident. Four passengers aboard the flight were detained by local law enforcement authorities upon arrival in Orlando due to suspicious behavior during the flight, according to a statement by Michelle Mohr, a spokeswoman for US Airways.

Terrorists Threaten to Strike Back

Anas al-Libi / AP, FBI photoThe covert U.S. military raid to capture a senior Libyan al Qaeda leader in Tripoli has triggered threats against Americans and other anti-U.S. sentiment in the volatile north African state.
The most serious threat included a posting on Facebook warning that U.S. journalists in the country will be kidnapped and used to try and exchange them for Abu Anas al Libi, who was snatched by commandos on Saturday in the Libyan capital.
Most of the threats appeared on the Facebook page “We are all Nazih al Rugai”—another name used by al Libi. The site was opened Oct. 6 and closed on Wednesday.
Other Libyan Islamists issued threats to target U.S. interests in North Africa, Malta, and Italy. The group Al Ruqayat Rebels Assembly posted the statement on Facebook and said the attacks would be in retaliation for the “treacherous abduction” of al Libi.
Islamists also called for mass demonstrations outside the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli.
Regarding the capture of U.S. journalists, an Oct. 9 posting on the Facebook site in Arabic stated that the “best defense is a good offense.”
“I am speaking now about swap deals,” the posting stated. “The government, the [General National] Congress, and the state shall know that America has breached the covenant with its nationals staying now in the country. Now, they are not protected by any covenant or agreement. I say frankly that the kidnapping and disappearance of journalists working for the intelligence service and touring the country will continue to take place in the country until the Libyan citizen [Abu Anas al Libi] is back to his country and his people with pride. O agents of America, we warn you.”

Bachmann: Obama ‘Arming Terrorists’ Means We’re in ‘God’s End Times’

While many House Republicans were dealing with the ongoing government shutdown this weekend, Rep. Michele Bachmann was giving an interview to Christina radio show Understanding the Times, in which she told host Jan Markell how she knows that the biblical “end times” are near.
Bachmann said it’s “hard to believe” but on the day of the Washington Navy Yard shooting,President Obama “waived a ban on arming terrorists in order to allow weapons to go to the Syrian opposition.” The congresswoman appeared to be referencing the Obama Administration’s decision to send anti-chemical weapons gear to vetted Syrian opposition forces, not known terrorists. “Your listeners, US taxpayers, are now paying to give arms to terrorists including Al Qaeda,” she said.
The reason Americans haven’t heard about this, Bachmann said, is because it happened right in the middle of the Navy Yard shooting and the Kenya Mall attack. “This happened and as of today the United States is willingly, knowingly, intentionally sending arms to terrorists,” she said. “Now what this says to me, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times, which is your ministry, we are to understand where we are in God’s end times history.”
Bachmann clarified that she wasn’t making these comments to cause Americans “fear” and “rather than seeing this as a negative, we need to rejoice.”

SPECIAL FORCES VETERANS, MEMBERS OF CONGRESS DEMAND SPECIAL BENGHAZI INVESTIGATION

Several members of Congress joined representatives of the special forces military veterans and grassroots organizations on Tuesday to launch an effort to force the House to have a thorough, public investigation into the terrorist attack at Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012.

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) has introduced legislation to create a special select committee to investigate both the terrorist attack and subsequent actions by President Barack Obama’s administration and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s State Department. Wolf's bill has 161 co-sponsors. House GOP Leadership has not scheduled a vote on the bill.
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) plans to harness the support for Wolf's bill into a "discharge petition" that would force a floor vote on the bill. The petition would need to be signed by 218 members of the House.
“I’m going to describe what a discharge petition is because a lot of people have asked me questions exactly what it is,” Stockman said at the Tuesday press conference outside the U.S. Capitol building. “It’s to ask our leadership or actually demand from our leadership that we have a vote on Frank Wolf’s bill. [Wolf is] a congressman from Virginia who has a long history of being here and is articulate in demanding that we have an independent investigation.”
Stockman added, while gesturing to blown up photographs behind him of the four Americans murdered in Benghazi, “if Congress is silenced,” then “the blood of these folks behind us is on our hands.”
“We can’t be silent any more,” he said. “It’s been a year going by that we haven’t had justice. These folks demand justice. They cry out for justice. Silence is not an option any more. We’re going to challenge them. We’re going to have a discharge petition. I encourage you to contact your congressman to sign the discharge petition.”

Disturbing Stories of the Day: Terrorists’ Easy Pass to NYC; Amtrak Employees Putting Passengers in Danger?

NY
Could the keys to New York City fall into the hands of potential terrorists? That’s the question being asked after a New Jersey locksmith reportedly sold a fireman’s key ring to an undercover reporter from the New York Post. They keys supposedly can control elevators, knock out power to skyscrapers, open subway gates and even give access to One World Trade Center. The 69-year-old man, Daniel Ferraris, sold the keys for $150 dollars and claims he has more keys that he is trying to sell.

In another disconcerting story, Amtrak employees are failing drug tests at an alarming rate. An internal audit found drug and alcohol use among workers is 51 percent higher than the industry average. The majority of employees who tested positive had cocaine and marijuana in their systems. Mechanic and signal operators were the worst offenders. The rail company is promising to increase drug screening this year.

Bill Press: Anti-Islam Filmmakers 'As Guilty as the Terrorists' Who Killed Americans in Libya

Radio host Bill Press is determined to win the title of most useful idiot to the jihad.

With his most recent lunacy this past Friday, Press is well on his way. (Audio clip after page break)
Behold, what passes for wisdom from the warped wasteland known as liberal radio (audio) --
Now here's the question though and the question that I ask you and it's not an easy one, I understand that.  What, if anything, should happen to the people who made this video? I gotta tell you, I think they are as guilty, that's my opinion, I think they are as guilty as the terrorists who carried out those attacks against our embassy in Libya. Look, we don't know everybody who was involved, but we've seen, I've seen some of them on television. This is a group of extremist, Muslim-hating, so-called Christians in southern California who are using their religion to stir up hatred against Islam. They're basing this on their Christian beliefs. They are, I believe, every bit as guilty as al Qaeda members who, think about it, who use the Koran and abuse their religion to stir up hatred against the United States. These so-called Christians, anybody who uses religion to stir up hate, is not a true believer. And certainly Christians who do so are not true Christians.

So these so-called Christians using their faith to stir up hatred against another of the world's great religions, it is absolutely disgusting and they've gotta know, they had to know what would result in that. After what happened with those Danish cartoons, right, or cartoons drawn for that Danish newspaper. After what happened with that nutjob Terry Jones down in Florida burning the Koran and people getting killed in Afghanistan over the protest that that, that that triggered. After what happened when we saw the video of American troops urinating on Muslim soldiers, right? After that, you had, they had to know that a video like this, not saying that the Muslims are not overreacting. I mean, they're hypersensitive about this stuff, I mean, Jesus, you know, just cool it, right? I mean, we show Jesus naked all the time hanging on the cross.

But, at any rate, their reaction is way overblown. But these, I hate to call them Christians, these so-called Christians had to know that that video would result in certain parts of the world, it would result in violence, it would result in lives being lost. I think, again, they are every bit as guilty and I think the United States, this is not freedom of speech. It's just the old thing, you can't cry fire in a crowded theater and have people trampled to death and say, oh, I was just exercising my freedom of speech. This is an abuse of the First Amendment. It's using, abusing their freedom of speech to cost innocent lives and to cause the taking of innocent lives in certain parts of the world. So, I think the United States ought to identify, yeah, we oughta be going after these terrorists that carried out the attacks in Libya and we are. I think we also ought to be identifying the people who made this video and go after them with the full force of the law and lock their ass up.
