Educator slammed after telling students they dress like ‘hoes’

An education official at a Texas high school is under fire after telling some female students they have been dressing like ‘hoes.’
According to KRIV Fox 26, School Support Officer Dr. Tameca Richardson made the remark to female students at Jack Yates High School in Houston during an assembly on campus.
A spokesperson for the Houston Independent School District confirmed the language used by Richardson, the station reported.
Some parents expressed anger over Richardson’s terminology, saying the Ph.D.-level educator should have used language that was less offensive.
"That was out of line and she should be disciplined for that," Cynthia King, mother of a Yates student, told Fox 26.
"You don't know what kind of home half of these girls are coming from or any of these kids are coming from for you to make a statement like that. You don't know their living condition and you don't know their parents financial state. That may be the only thing they have to wear. It's inconsiderate," added King.

Baby not covered under ObamaCare family plan

This baby’s not on board with ObamaCare.
Long Islander Cornelius Kelly found it would be no problem to secure a family plan for his wife and three older kids through New York’s health-care exchange, but his 18-month-old daughter was out in the cold. The baby would need her own insurance policy.
“I couldn’t believe what I was being told,” said the dad from East Quogue, in Suffolk.
Kelly said he was no fan of the Affordable Care Act, but when he received notice a few weeks ago that his current insurance plan was being canceled, he tried the New York State of Health Web site.
Kelly, 41, and his wife, Jennifer, 42, are self-employed and have always had to buy their own insurance. Kelly runs a title insurance business in Westhampton, and his wife is a pediatrician in private practice in Miller Place. “I initially went on with a lot of optimism,” he said.
Kelly said none of the plans offered out-of-network coverage, which was something he wanted. But even worse, they only covered his three older children, who are 3, 5 and 6.
When Kelly called a representative, he was told his daughter had to be 2 before she could be covered under a family plan. He would have to buy a separate plan for her, at monthly premiums that ranged between $117.21 and $369.31. The cost would be on top of a family plan with premiums ranging from $810.84 to $2,554.71 a month.
Kelly said he had been paying about $1,000 a month.

Gallup: Mooch’s “Let’s Move!” Campaign An Abject Failure, America’s Eating Habits Worsened In 2013…

In September Queen Mooch took credit for a “cultural shift” in America’s eating habits.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Americans’ eating habits have deteriorated in 2013, as fewer adults report eating healthy all day “yesterday” in every month so far this year compared with the same months in 2012. In particular, healthy eating in June, July, August, and September declined by at least three percentage points from the same months in 2012. Moreover, in most months this year, healthy eating has been at its lowest in Gallup trends since 2008.
Gallup and Healthways ask at least 500 Americans each day about their eating habits as part of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.
Healthy eating generally follows a seasonal pattern, gradually declining in the spring, ticking up in the late summer months, and then falling steeply in November and December. The increase between December 2012 and January 2013 was 1.9 percentage points, which is lower than the typical New Year’s uptick. Additionally, May and June 2013 brought steeper-than-usual declines.

Report: White House Discussed Scrapping Entire ObamaCare Website

featured-img
The abysmal rollout of the Obamacare individual mandate last month exposed a website so badly flawed that White House officials considered junking it altogether, according to a detailed account of the inner workings of the healthcare plan's debacle.

While President Barack Obama touted publicly that "interest way exceeded expectations, and that's the good news" during the first weekend of the rollout, White House officials were considering another question, The New York Times reports in a front page article Sunday — "Should we just take the website down altogether for a time so it can be fixed?"

The question was dismissed by Todd Park, the administration's chief technology officer, because, he said, HealthCare.com had to be up and running for one simple reason — "To see where the problems are," the Times reports.

HealthCare.gov team claims victory: 'We have met the goal'

The Obama administration claimed victory Sunday for making HealthCare.gov workable for the vast majority of users, a standard that will be tested as millions of people flood the site in the next three weeks.
Sunday marked the passage of the administration's self-imposed deadline for fixing the broken ObamaCare enrollment website, which serves consumers in 36 states.
The agency that oversees HealthCare.gov said "we believe we have met the goal" of making the system navigable for most people, but cautioned that more problems may lie ahead.
"Dramatic progress has been made," the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) stated in a report released Sunday morning. "[But] there is more work to be done to continue to improve and enhance the website."
The mixed message highlights the challenge facing the Obama administration as it seeks to ensure that millions can sign up for individual health plans online by the end of March.
HealthCare.gov debuted with serious technical problems on Oct. 1, plunging President Obama into a political firestorm that engulfed the White House for weeks.
The question now is whether the system can handle the high volume of user traffic expected in December.

Obama and daughters shop bookstore on Small Business Saturday

President Barack Obama said he bought “books for every age group, from five to 52″ — including one on how race affects athleticism — in a trip Saturday afternoon to Politics & Prose, an independent bookstore in Washington, D.C.
Obama and daughters shop bookstore on Small Business SaturdayThe semi-controversial book “The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance,” by David Epstein may have been Obama’s most interesting purchase – Epstein himself has acknowledged that the book tackles taboo topics such as race and the unsettled nature-nurture debate.
“I lost so much sleep over this,” Epstein told The Atlantic in an interview earlier this year. “I literally almost backed out of writing this book, because the issues of race and gender got me so nervous. Eventually my agent and one of my colleagues convinced me to just do it, in the best way I could.”
Beside many other topics, Epstein explains in his book why track and field sprinters of West African descent tend to excel in the sport compared to other racial cohorts. Inborn differences in hemoglobin levels and limb length are part of the explanation for their dominance in the sport, he says. That topic is still taboo in most academic circles, says Epstein, for fears that it may lead to discussions on innate intelligence differences.
Another sports book Obama purchased was ”Collision Low Crossers: A Year Inside the Turbulent World of NFL Football” — a book by Nicholas Dawidoff documenting the year he spent tagging along with the New York Jets football team.
The president’s selection of over 20 books was diverse, with some titles, like “Lulu and the Brontosaurus” and “Ottoline and the Yellow Cat” seemingly chosen by first daughters Sasha and Malia, who accompanied the president.
The first family also bought a copy of ““Harold and the Purple Crayon,” a 1955 classic about a young boy who wanted something so he built it — or, in his case, drew it with a purple crayon. (TOP TEN: Memes mocking Obama’s ‘you didn’t build that’ remark)
The more adult selections ran the gamut from literary fiction to historical fiction to sports-related non-fiction.

Cops: Woman pulls stun gun in fight over Walmart shopping cart

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -
A Thanksgiving shopper is facing criminal charges after police say she pulled a stun gun in a dispute over a shopping cart outside of a Walmart store.

Police say it happened Thursday at about 7:18 p.m. at the Walmart in Linden, N.J.

Officers assigned to the store were alerted to a dispute in the parking lot between two women. An on-duty Linden Fire Department captain on scene monitoring the crowd situation told an officer that one of the women had a stun gun.

Police spoke to a victim, a 42 year old from Staten Island, who told officers that she and another woman were having an argument over a shopping cart when the other woman pulled out a stun gun and activated it in a threatening manner.

Police say the woman with the stun gun, Latosha Mathis, 34, of Elizabeth, N.J. was arrested after officers found the TW-11 stun gun in her purse.

She was charged with illegal possession of a stun gun, and is due back in court on December 6, 2013.  She faces up to 18 months in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Follow-up: Tweeters Indicate Thanksgiving Obamacare Conversations Didn't Help the President's Cause

In the runup to Thanksgiving, Organizing For Action, the group whose sole mission is to promote President Barack Obama's agenda, with the "help" of an absolutely horrid videoencouraged its members to "have the talk with your loved ones" about signing up for Obamacare.
Just before Thanksgiving, as P.J. Gladnick at NewsBusters noted on Thursday, two Huffington Post writers suggested that changing the subject away from Obamacare might be the better move. Even Andrew Rosenthal at the Obama-loving New York Times was concerned"I question the wisdom of directing people to a cheery ad for the exchanges before they, you know, work. The president’s communications team is just asking for it." Based on tweets collected by the intrepid Twitter monitors at Twitchy.com, they got it (some individual tweets were given minor edits; bolds are mine):
Thanks, Obama! Here’s what happened when Obamacare came up at Thanksgiving dinners
ObamaTalkOcareAtTgiving2013
... For some families, Obamacare at the holiday table was a recipe for disaster. New Thanksgiving tradition: Screaming arguments.
Thanks, Obama (six tweets on this list and the one which follows were selected from longer compilations — Ed.):
- "My family is drunk and screaming at each other about Obamacare."
- "Family fighting over Obamacare. lol here we go."
- "Yay! Inevitable Obamacare extended family argument time!"
- "Arguing about Obamacare and social media at the dinner table…. I'm so done wow can I sleep now?"
- "Oh no. Someone brought up health insurance and obamacare and now theres lots of yelling."
- "Everybody's drunk and yelling at eachother about obamacare and its not even 5 yet."
But Obamacare chatter at the dinner table didn’t just lead to misery. For some, there was family unity … but not in the way Dems intended:
- "We held a family vote on Obama Care and we were unanimous in being "agin" it. First time we've all agreed on anything."
- "Followed obama's advice to discuss #obamacare during turkey dinner. Family consensus was obama is worst Pres in US history."
- "Well we sat down as a family and all talked about the failure of #obamacare today at dinner. Thats what we were supposed to do, right?"
- "We discussed #Obamacare at Thanksgiving dinner. We all still agree that it sucks."
- "The only remotely liberal family member at Thanksgiving dinner today didn't say a word in defense of Obamacare. Sorry, @OFA."
- "Here was our conversation about O'care at dinner; Obamacare sucks, now please pass the mashed potatoes" - "#Obamacare talk w family went better then expected. They all agreed ACA should be repealed!!"
- "We discussed obamacare over dinner as we were instructed. First time this family has been in total agreement about anything. Obamacare SUCKS"
I wonder if Rosenthal of the Huffington Post writers plan any kind of follow-up on the "Health Care for the Holidays" initiative? (/sarcasm)

NY Post: Obama Embraces Cruz?

featured-img
Maybe Ted Cruz and Barack Obama are not as far apart on ObamaCare as we thought.

Before the government shut down, the Texas senator and his Republican allies in the House were denounced as extremists for wanting ObamaCare repealed in exchange for keeping the government going. Yet now it’s the president and his Democratic allies who want to delay, indefinitely, key parts of this law.

If the Democrats get their way, we have to wonder: What’s the difference between repealing the law and not implementing it?

In July, the administration put off the employer mandate for a year. A few weeks ago, the president said insurance companies could hold off canceling their old policies. And now he’s pushed back next year’s enrollment period so that it will run from November 15, 2014, to January 15, 2015. Not only does this extend the time on the back end, it conveniently moves the start date until after the mid-term elections.

Reporter Bob Franken Blasts Obama on MSNBC: ‘Most Hostile’ to Press ‘in U.S. History’

During a segment examining the complaints lodged by a group of photojournalists relating to how the White House manipulates public accounting of events by blocking independent photography, an MSNBC panel tore into President Barack Obama’s handling of relations with the press. One guest shocked the anchor when he asserted that Obama is the “most hostile” White House in American history when it comes to press freedoms.
The segment began with Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank observing that a number of photojournalists have protested this White House’s decision to block photographers from independent media outlets from getting the best shots in favor of White House-approved photographers. He noted that this practice can be construed as an effort to attempt to manipulate public opinion.
“Let’s use the ‘P’ word here: it’s propaganda,” said syndicated columnist and former White House reporter Bob Franken. “Every administration tries to manipulate the press, but this is the most hostile to the media that has been in United States history.”
“The reason I say most hostile is because of the Justice Department moves that they’ve made against the press,” Franken continued. “Obviously, they have a contempt for the journalistic process.”
The Blaze anchor Amy Holmes added that there is some irony in this condition because White House Press Sec. Jay Carney was a former TIME Magazine reporter. “We’re talking about censorship,” she added. “If a photo says a thousand words, this White House only wants happy talk.”
Milbank says that he could accept that Obama may be more hostile to the press than George W. Bush, but that it would be a close contest between the two to determine which White House was the most hostile to press freedoms in American history.
“There has been such a love-fest between this White House press corps and the Obama administration that I think they’ve been putting up with a lot more manipulation,” Holmes submitted. She said that the dynamic between the media and the White House has changed as the administration begins to falter.
“Jay’s sort of like the reformed smoker, you know? He now has disdain for those people in the profession he left behind,” Milbank said. “I think this president also, sometimes justifiably, looks down at people in this line of work.”
“It’s created an underlying hostility that really bubbles up when the administration is having problems like it is today,” he concluded.

Democrats start to distance themselves from Obama

WASHINGTON — A month after emerging from a government shutdown at the top of their game, many Democrats in Congress newly worried about the party's re-election prospects are for the first time distancing themselves from President Obama after the disastrous rollout of his health care overhaul.
At issue, several Obama allies said, is a loss of trust in the president after only 106,000 people — instead of an anticipated half million — were able to buy insurance coverage the first month of the new "Obamacare" websites. In addition, some 4.2 million Americans received notices from insurers that policies Obama had promised they could keep were being canceled.
"Folks are now, I think in talking to members, more cautious with regard to dealing with the president," said Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, the senior Democrat on the House Oversight Committee and one of the first leaders in his state to endorse Obama's presidential candidacy six year ago.
Cummings, the White House's biggest defender in a Republican-controlled committee whose agenda is waging war against the administration over the attack in Benghazi, the IRS scandal, a gun-tracking operation and now health care, said he still thinks Obama is operating with integrity. But he noted that not all his Democratic colleagues agree.
"They want to make sure that everything possible is being done to, number one, be transparent, (two) fix this website situation and, three, to restore trust," Cummings said.
Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., like Cummings a prominent member of the Congressional Black Caucus who personally likes Obama, struggled to describe the state of play between congressional Democrats and the president.
"I am trying to think if you can call it a relationship at this point," he said.

BUYING GUNS ON BLACK FRIDAY BECOMES TRADITION UNDER OBAMA

Although much of the gun control push under President Obama has failed to result in new laws, it has succeeded in creating a new tradition where shoppers scoop up guns on Black Friday so they can place them under the tree on Christmas Day.

Consider the numbers: in 2008, ABC News reported 97,848 background checks on Black Friday. In 2009, the numbers remained somewhat static but then began to grow exponentially as the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats began to flex their muscles.  By 2011, there were 129,166 background checks on Black Friday alone.
As the National Shooting Sports Foundation reported, the jump in 2011 marked "a 32.01 percent increase over" the sales on 2008 Black Friday--the year Obama was first elected.
In 2012, the number of Black Friday background checks rose to 154,873. Remember that because numerous guns can be purchased with each background check, these figures don't even begin to indicate how many firearms may actually have been sold.
This information is not lost on retailers like Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, and Wal-Mart. Cabela's literally gave away shotguns to early bird customers in some cities on Black Friday--those receiving the guns went through a background check--and Huffington Post reported that Bass Pro Shops was running hot deals on Bushmaster AR-15 rifles.
Wal-Mart ran a "Manager's Special Sale" that translated into "20 percent off select rifles and shotguns."
Buying a firearm on Black Friday has fast become an American tradition under President Obama.

SALOON OWNER TOLD TO REMOVE SIGN HONORING VETS

Bar signA sign hovering above a Huntington Beach saloon for the last six years, thanking veterans for protecting our freedom, has been ordered to be removed. When he arrived at work on Monday, Johnny Kresimir, the owner of Johnny’s Booze and Pool, discovered a citation had been placed on his door. A city spokeswoman for Huntington Beach said the establishment lacked the proper permits to display the sign that reads, “Thank a Veteran for your Freedom.”

Kresimir posted on Facebook that the City was threatening him with a $1000 fine if he didn’t produce the necessary permits to hang the sign. "If the sign goes down, it's not going to hurt our business. It's just going to hurt the community," Kresimir lamented. Veterans reacted to the incident by posting reasons for why the sign should remain perched above the bar.  A campaign to keep the sign has been spearheaded by Mayor Pro Tem Matthew Harper. He pledges that he will fight to preserve the sign if it comes up before the City Council.
The metal structure that supports the sign was placed there before Kresimir purchased the saloon. Removing the sign is a big job because of the electrical wiring, and his commercial lease prohibits anyone to stand on the roof. Kresimir is dismayed that he has to take it down because he erected the sign to honor veterans and those currently serving in our military. However, the patriotic proprietor isn’t giving up and plans to lobby the city to see if he can keep the sign in place. If he loses the battle, Kresimir vows to invite veterans from the area to come and say goodbye to the symbol that honors them.

At least 4 dead as Metro-North passenger train derails in New York City

Metro North derailment At least four people are dead after a Metro-North passenger train derailed on its way to New York City, sources tell FoxNews.com.
There are "dozens of injuries” in the accident that occurred at 7:20 a.m., about 100 feet north of the Spuyten Duyvil station in the Bronx, according to Metro-North.
A Metro-North spokesman tells FoxNews.com the derailment involved the commuter train departing Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County at 5:54 a.m. -- the second train to leave that station on Sunday.
The derailed train was due to arrive at Manhattan’s Grand Central Station at 7:43 a.m.
The whole train comprised seven cars, plus a diesel locomotive, and five of the cars went off the tracks, said Metro-North spokesman Aaron Donovan.
The derailment occurred near the Harlem River, and authorities say two cars were left lying on their sides, although none of the cars went into the nearby waterway.
“One approached the water and came close, but did not go in,” Donovan tells FoxNews.com.
