Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Thursday his party stands ready to “tattoo Obamacare” on the foreheads of vulnerable Democrats in next year’s election cycle.
Mr. Priebus, speaking from RNC headquarters on Capitol Hill, said he invited a group of Senate Democrats up for re-election in 2014 and select House Democrats to the press briefing to sing the Affordable Care Act’s praises from the podium.
The RNC purchased domain names for targeted Democrats like Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas — in this case PryorLovesObamaCare.com — “that we would have gladly donated to the campaigns had they showed up,” according to the chairman.
“It looks like it’s just me this morning,” he said.
The event was billed as the “We’re Running on Obamacare” press conference and underscores that the RNC is happy to let Democrats tout President Obama’s law so long as it’s besieged by Web glitches and rising discontent with provisions that resulted in millions of canceled health policies.
“They created this problem,” Mr. Priebus said. “They knew this would happen.”
