[VIDEO] Boehner: Obamacare Needs To Be Scrapped Now

BY:
Citing “a pattern of broken promises” from the Obama administration, Speaker o John Boehner recommended that Obamacare “be scrapped” Tuesday morning.
Boehner explained that Promise #1: “If you like your plan, you can keep it” is false because millions of health insurance plans have been dropped due to strict requirements set by Obamacare.
Promise #2 “If Obamacare is passed, premiums will go down,” Boehner continued, is not true because premiums have actually skyrocketed.

Pelosi: We can win

In a sit-down interview in her office in the Capitol, the House minority leader stopped short of predicting that Democrats would regain the lower chamber in the 2014 midterm elections, but she had no hesitation in saying what she would use a majority for.

Pelosi and other Democrats have emerged from the shutdown fight with new confidence, and she vowed her party would “of course” pick up seats next year. It is the first time Pelosi has guaranteed that Democrats will cut into the GOP’s majority.

Atop her priority list as Speaker, she said, would be “comprehensive affordable, quality childcare” for working mothers, which she sees as a natural extension of ObamaCare.

“That would have the biggest impact on women, families and … job creation,” Pelosi said. “That was on President Nixon’s desk … in the ’70s, and he vetoed it for cultural or whatever reasons. And now we have to do that again.”
Pelosi, the nation’s first female Speaker, has long fought for progressive legislation on women’s issues, whether at home, in the workforce or in politics.

Gingrich: Obama's big debt limit deception

A Park Service police officer stands guard in front of the Lincoln Memorial during a partial shutdown of the federal government in November 1995. Many government services and agencies were closed at the end of 1995 and beginning of 1996 as President Bill Clinton battled a Republican-led Congress over spending levels.
(CNN) -- As a historian and a former speaker of the House who negotiated successfully through two government shutdowns, a successful welfare reform bill, the first tax cut in 16 years and four balanced budgets, I am offended and a little frightened by President Barack Obama's deliberate dishonesty about the debt ceiling.
On Wednesday, speaking to the Business Roundtable, Obama said:

"You have never seen in the history of the United States the debt ceiling or the threat of not raising the debt being used to extort a president or a governing party and trying to force issues that have nothing to do with the budget and nothing to do with the debt."
This is just plain false, and he knows it. That he would say something so factually false in a prepared text is very worrisome.
First of all, issues such as Obamacare don't have "nothing to do with the budget" and the idea that it is unusual for Congress to bring them into the debt ceiling debate is absurd. Far from having "nothing to do with the budget and nothing to do with the debt," Obamacare is a major part of the budget, and it is now projected to cost twice what the president promised.
The president's historical claim is completely wrong, as well. Let's set the record straight.
Debt ceilings have been used since President Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s to enable conservatives to put limits on government spending.

House Republicans accuse Senate colleagues of caving on push to de-fund ObamaCare

House Republicans, in an unusually caustic intra-party squabble, are ripping their conservative colleagues in the Senate for what they see as an abrupt cave-in on the push to de-fund ObamaCare.

“They're waving the white flag already,"one House GOP lawmaker said Wednesday.

The squabble started after House Speaker John Boehner earlier in the day announced he would agree to the demands of Tea Party-aligned lawmakers to tie a vote on de-funding the health care law to a vote on a must-pass budget bill.

The move would effectively condition the approval of the spending bill on ObamaCare being de-funded, or else risk a government shutdown when funding runs out at the end of the month.

But Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, one of the most vocal supporters of the “de-fund ObamaCare” push, startled his House colleagues when he released a written statement Wednesday afternoon that appeared to acknowledge the bill will probably fail in the Senate.

“Today's announcement that the House will vote to defund ObamaCare is terrific news,” Cruz said, in a press release from him, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.

Despite Boehner's Denial, Rumors Persist He'll Step Down

Image: Despite Boehner's Denial, Rumors Persist He'll Step DownHouse Speaker John Boehner denied again Thursday through his aides that he plans to step down after the 2014 midterm elections even though some of his closest allies have told reporters that the Ohio Republican has had enough of the high political drama and intraparty feuding on Capitol Hill.

"These inside-the-Beltway parlor games take place every two years," Boehner spokesman Michael Steel told The Huffington Post. "The speaker has made clear publicly he intends to remain in his position in the next Congress."

Urgent: Should U.S. Strike Syria? Vote Here

But all summer long, the rumors started by former Boehner aides and others close to the speaker have continued, despite his previous denial in July that he has no plans to give up his leadership gavel.

"He has to say that," a former GOP leadership aide, identified as a member of Boehner's inner circle, told The Huffington Post. "The minute you say [you're leaving], you're done. Everybody around him thinks this is his last term."

Stepping aside may be the better part of valor in the long run, given the tension surrounding his re-election as speaker in January. Tea Party Republicans angry over his handling of the budget and debt-limit crisis sought to deny him the 218 votes he needed to remain in the speaker's chair. He ended up winning by only 220 votes

Nancy Pelosi: I Don't Want To Be Speaker Again, 'That's Not My Thing'

nancy pelosi speakerHouse Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told National Journal she's not looking to fill the role of House Speaker again anytime soon.
When asked by reporter Ben Terris if she'd like to be House Speaker again, Pelosi was quick to reject the idea.
"No, that's not my thing. I did that," Pelosi said.
But not everyone feels the same as Pelosi. President Barack Obama said in April 2013 said it would be "whole lot easier to govern" with Pelosi as House Speaker.
"My job is to make sure we move the country forward, and I think we can best do that if Nancy Pelosi is speaker of the House once again," Obama said during a fundraiser.
Pelosi has criticized current House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), saying in May he'd be called "the weakest speaker in history" if "he were a woman."

Awesome: Alabama House Leader Moves To Block UN Poll Watchers From Operating In His State…

Montgomery – In response to news that poll watchers affiliated with the United Nations will be sent across the country to monitor balloting in various states and search for evidence of “voter suppression” during the upcoming November 6 presidential election, Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard said he will support legislation in the next session requiring all poll watchers in Alabama to hold U.S. citizenship.
“The United States is the worldwide beacon of free elections and the Republican form of government, so having an international squad from the United Nations playing referee in our elections is insulting and absurd,” Hubbard said. “We’ve been holding elections in the U.S. for the past 223 years without the United Nations playing a role or enforcing the rules, and we certainly don’t want or need them now.”
At the request of several liberal-leaning groups including the American Civil Liberties Union, the NAACP and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, a United Nations affiliate, announced it will deploy a team of poll watchers to polling sites across the country in order to monitor and document potential disputes.
The poll watchers will come from Serbia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Germany and France, and other countries.
Hubbard said he will push the law in order to ensure U.N. observers are blocked from future elections in Alabama by allowing only those who are U.S. citizens to be certified as poll watchers in the state.
“If you can’t participate in an election in the United States, and if you can’t cast a vote in the United States, you really have no business serving as a poll watcher in an election being held in the United States,” Hubbard said. “It’s bad enough that Alabama remains trapped under the provisions of the Voting Rights Act, so we certainly don’t need anyone from the United Nations coming into our state and meddling in our elections, as well.”

What If There Is NO President by January 20th

I think America should be prepared for every sort of political gymnastics conceivable come Tuesday, November 6th, 2012.

Battalions of lawyers are set to spring into action if there is a hint that Obama may lose. Planning and preparations for such an eventuality have been in progress since the early days of the Obama Administration.

Tying the election up in the courts is the plan. And these people are serious!
So what happens if, indeed the US election is tied up in the judicial system come noon on January 20th, 2013?

“In cases where a President has not been chosen by January 20 or the President-elect “fails to qualify,” the Vice President-elect becomes Acting President on January 20 until there is a qualified President. If the President-elect dies before noon January 20, the Twentieth Amendment states the Vice President-elect becomes President. In cases where there is no President-elect or Vice President-elect, the Amendment also gives the Congress the authority to declare an Acting President until such time as there is a President or Vice President. At this point the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 would apply, with the office of the Presidency going to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, followed by the President pro tempore of the Senate and various Cabinet officers.” SOURCE:

OK. But how exactly is the President-elect and Vice-President-elect decided, I mean, legally decided. And here it gets cloudy and open to all sorts of legal challenges.
There are at least two schools of thought on that.

“Some commentators doubt whether an official President- and Vice President-elect exist prior to the electoral votes being counted and announced by Congress on January 6, maintaining that this is a problematic contingency lacking clear constitutional or statutory direction. Others assert that once a majority of electoral votes has been cast for one ticket, then the recipients of these votes become the President- and Vice President-elect, notwithstanding the fact that the electoral votes are not counted and certified until the following January 6.” SOURCE:
